being a villain/the bad guy doesn't exclude you from being the protagonist. Light is the villain in Death Note and still is the protagonist whereas L is the antagonist. You can't be both, you're only ever one except if two versions of you exist

Then let me make my original intent in my comment a little clearer:
He CANNOT be both. An antagonist is someone who opposes the protagonist. Lugh is the protagonist of this story, and thus, he cannot oppose himself meaning he cannot be the antagonist. The antagonist is the hero in this case (as of now, because that's his target) and anyone else who tries to stop him from trying to assassinate the hero.

@@animusswtor4822 I totally agree with you, but it isn’t impossible for someone to be both the antagonist and protagonist.
For example, Eren from aot (I’ve never watched aot, but from what I’ve heard he is the antagonist in the later seasons.) and also what if the protagonist is opposing themselves. (i.e. they have depression or they are fighting their darker selves from taking over)
So a more accurate statement would be… “someone can’t fully be both the antagonist and protagonist at the same time”

My favorite trope. Assassins being good cooks/cooking being somewhat of a hobby for them.

It even makes sense, you can poison anyone by applying poison to the food and if you don't make a fuss when putting it there is no trace as it is more likely to be poisoned AFTER the food it's ready
@@disneymaniaish I've seen tons of isekais and fantasies and in almost all of them there has to be at least one bartender/chef/butler/café owner who's also secretly a professional assasin,so yeah i'd say its a trope
Reminded me of Hei from DtD
its a sensible hobby for the profession, preparing your own food reduces the chances of getting poisoned, good for keeping up fine motor skills, being a chef is a good cover story for infiltration, being able to make your own food when your stuck in a location, etc
This is why I'm never mean/rude to chefs/waiters:
1. They control your food
2. You don't know their background and if their knife skills were acquired 'peacefully'.

Honestly the most impressive thing is he invented/created the pressure cooker and it somehow didn't explode killing everyone.
Get used to him using his knowledge of modern technology to his advantage.
That's honestly the impressive bit. One would think the quality of a random alt-world's steel would currently be at some stage of poor quality. If their steel could handle larger amounts of pressure, it would be a simple step further to enter the steam engine age. The thing that was holding the real world back from the industrial age was always steel production. Humans were already using the various pieces that make up an engine in some shape or form for ages prior, but good steel being mass produced combined with the right thinker brought about engines of all sizes rapidly.

As a cooking student, yes, we use most of the time the same big knife for meat and vegetables.

I change cutting boards between meat and vegetables, but I'm lazy and want to use my favorite knife to cut everything. If you cut the meat last, there shouldn't be a sanitary issue.

Both this and Assassination Classroom give us the impression that assassins are Jack of all trades, from having PhD level intellect to mastering skills like art and cooking. I wonder how a real assassin would react to this?

the thing is... the "professional, wealthy, high-class ice-cold assassin, who's only job is killing", while a quite popular (if not too overused) trope/cliche in fiction (Hitman, John Wick, Golgo 13), it's not really realistic... prolonged successes of those characters are based on movie-logic-powered luck, doing feats of extraordinary precision and body control which are only mathemathically possible, or... uh... deliberately faulty enemy AI. Real life situations aren't designed to be "solvable" by some "stealth masters", snipers' accuracy over long ranges is greatly overstated in fiction, and, well, even best snipers aren't skilled enough to deliver headshots by ricocheting bullets off the rippling surface of a swimming pool
... then again, such a prolific and successful assassin of high-profile targets wouldn't be known by general public as such, maybe not even as a legend. Bring out your foilhats XD

Question, ... should you ever trust that a meal made by an assassin is safe to eat?
By not eating his meal you would show that you don't trust him. He would see you as a danger, a threat. By eating the meal you show your trust, it would in fact make you susceptible to poisoning but if you were never his target or a threat/danger to his contract/life/family you shouldn't worry.
It kinda depends on the circumstances. Unless I'm extremely wealthy/important and have my own fleet of bodyguards, chances are he or she could've killed me anyways. If I'm in the crosshairs no matter what I do.... might as well take the last meal. For all I know turning it down means opting out of the easy way.

He could literally pour poison into it while I watched and I'd still eat that soup, it looks so good!

It was around here in the series I really noticed the nuance of what he calls himself that isn't particularly translatable to English. Before he got exploded and died, he referred to himself with watashi because he was being completely professional. Here he uses boku out loud because it suits his current role, but ore in his thoughts because that's what he actually prefers.

The real magic is that rosemary stem or whatever staying at the top after all that cooking, adding, and stirring.
