Rihanna Mohamud depends in the USA we have these things called school districts, like basically your city may have one or two or more (depends on your city size) so in my school we have 8 classes a day of 45 min each but I have friends from other schools that have 4 classes a day each 1hour 30 min long. We have lunch around 12 pm and we leave around 3 or 4 pm. Schools here are fun we have pep rally’s, football games, events that bring the whole school together and it’s basically one huge party, it’s fun.
Rihanna Mohamud to make it easier you would be in middle school here. Kindergarten through 4th or 5th is elementary which I believe is your primary. Middle school is 6-8 which is your secondary...maybe. And finally high school which is 9th-12th grade. Hope that makes sense. What do you call it after secondary school or is it all in one?
@@Cherryblossomtree6394 It really depends on the school. There are public schools which really are really different from each other, and public schools which can also differ
Rihanna Mohamud at my school, we go to school at 7:00 and class starts at 7:25 and then we get out around 2:25 (this is only for the high school... other grades have other times). we also have 7 classes. American highschooler here! There’s a TON of differences between British Secondary school and American High School, but they’re all really small differences for the most part. I'm really surprised she doesn't know the term. Typically, Swedish students are better educated than American students and are normally a year or two ahead of them, so she should've already learned algebra in her country.
I’m starting Swiss high school this year and just watching you talk about back to school stressed me out big time. Happy everything went well for you, I hope it goes well for me
awww she’s doing algebra 1 😖. the way you pronounced parabola was so cute in a weird way. 😭 I already completed algebra 1 in grade 8 tho so that’s kinda weird
All schools do it differently. I had pre algebra in 8th because I went to a catholic school, so I didn’t have an option. When I took the placement test for freshman year, I was only a few points off from skipping algebra 1 but had to retake it. that’s why some took algebra 1 and some took geometry. It just depends
Isn’t parabola the same word in a lot of languages and this really does look like algebra 1 material more than algebra 2 or maybe it’s just review lol but then if it is review you’d know this info already? Idk
During my freshman year, we had an exchange student from Germany and she was like best friend. I was so sad to see her go back home, she taught us a bunch of stuff about her home and what it’s like there.

Edit: sorry, this sounded rude. I was kind of staying the obvious here too. Sorry about that
your voice is so calming omg ! also, you’re so pretty !! I hope you enjoy school here !
Hey! I’m from Spain and I moved to the USA one year ago and I’m gonna stay here for another two years. When I came here the first thing I did was cheer tryouts and I got into the team and that was the best thing I did. I made so many friends and I love cheerleading now. I hope that you make the team and make a lot of friends!
“What’s a para-bola?” That was also me in algebra 1 and 2 😂
Hello dear
Us American students don't really know that much about us history as you might think, trust me you won't be alone
You probably know more than you think.
sarah mc hugh yup that’s with a lot of people
Alyssa
really? in south carolina they drill it into us american and south carolinian history. i can give a timeline from the pilgrims arrival to like the civil rights movement.
Us? Don't compare educated Americans to your inner city pop culture misguided self. People like you are the ones that make Americans look bad.
omg when you were practicing for cheer tryouts and i heard greta van fleet playing i almost died!!!!
Shelby Saunders YES
YESS love going to frankenmuth and blaring on the speakers and people shouting for joy haha
Yessss
was literally me LOL
I'm Australian and I moved to America a couple years ago and people were absolutely amazed by my accent it's the most friends I've made off of my voice alone, Americans are quite easy to make friends with they are mostly chill so your all good
ooh yeah i’m going to england for an exchange and i’m aussie so do you think that people will like my accent?
I clicked immediately when I saw you've posted a new video. Seriously, I get so excited when you post a new video😂💞
Jill van der Kuijl me too! Btw, are you Dutch?
@@oliviakate4652 Yes I am :)
Jill van der Kuijl ah leuk, hoi!

As an American student I'm trying to transfer to Europe and study there in Finland heard the have the best schools, US schools aren't bad but the kids in our schools drive me nuts.
alyssa b lol I was gonna go to Finland first because of the school gonna go to America now
Bruh everytime someone tells me to do hw I'm like "Finland has the number 1 education systems in the world and they get like a minute of hw stfu nigga"
yeah that’s not as easy as you think lol
I’m proud of her making friends in the first day, i’d be quiet and away from everyone 😂
Same I would have isolated myself in a freezer by now
lol same I’m going to a new school well I’m gonna see my friends there because we’re all going to middle school but I don’t have a lot of friends I have like 2 💀 so I’ll just isolate myself 😭👌🏻
school supplies, shop at target or Walmart. Walgreens is expensive, I work there lol.
Don’t worry about lunch, you’ll find people to hang out. I know how it is when all your friends or people you know aren’t with you. It’s scary, nerve wrecking. Don’t worry about struggling they should have tutoring !
Wait.. do u have to learn the standard system since we don’t use metric? That would be challenging
Standard system? It's called US customary system. All countries in the world use the metric system. Only in the US is used the other one.
Nefeli Blossom I believe Liberia and Myanmar use it as well 🤷♀️
It‘s not the „standard“ system hun
In the US (or my area at least), we call it the Standard, Customary, Imperial, Or English system. Y’all can stop freaking out on this poor person. If they learned it that way then they learned it that way, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
We (in California) have always called it the standard system. Some called it imperial but standard was more common. It’s the standard way of doing things here, thus, the “standard” system
her: maybe not the healthiest...
America: that's kinda the point 😂
what do you call your hostmom? do you call her mom?
Sich Nasf i assume she would just call her by her name? idk
I assume she’d just call her “Mrs.” somethng
axela crane she’s gonna be there for one whole year I dont think she would call person she’s gonna live with “mrs. something”
whats a host mom or host family
I had a friend that was an exchange student from Germany and she used to call her hostmom by her first name

THIS WAS SO CUTE WHEN U WERE TALKING ABOUT THE HYDROFLASK 🥺🥺❤️
Hello dear
@@subairharry9004 hello honey
i used to go to that school, hope you have the best school year there!
What school is it?
Hello
I remember in high school we had exchange students from every continent. It was amazing!! It’s always cool to meet people from places you’ve never been, and most times everyone found exchange students to be extremely interesting, so I wouldn’t worry too much.
kinda weird that I got this recommendation and I actually go to school here and it seems like some people in the comments go there too lol
Hello
i’m going there next year. do you know when people usually get their schedules?
What is the host family buying? And what do you need to buy?
So basically, the hostfamily has to provide food and a bed and that kind of stuff, and her parents give her money to buy clothes, and money for other things.
Thank u for being calm and not yelling at the camera/ trying to be cringe/ quirky. You’re so mellow, it’s refreshing.
This video gave me anxiety
Same, I literally cried watching because I remembered my first day at German school. Till this day, leaving home is a horror movie
Gabriela Szczurek awww hope u doing well now
Gabriela Szczurek hey
Me too haha I’m going to new school next week

Yes 😂😂
But nancy's seems way more smarter..
She just needs a Steve to corrupt her
I feel bad for her to see how hot it is in AZ!! 🥵

kailey anne music is her name anna kerin?
It’s funny how you have friends within the first day, can’t relate😭
Being from a different country usually makes it easier to make friends. People just find you fascinating in a way that you might not fully understand.

@@ellagalle they where all Swedish exchange students tho
everyone in my school had hydroflasks before vsco girls were even a thing 😎
shannelle 💀💀
Weird flex but ok
that happened in everyones schools lmao
I’ve literally never heard of a hydro flask until “vsco girls” became a thing
maribella ortiz lol fr?? where do u go to school
In Scotland we have 2 minutes in between classes. 5 floors to the tower block, 2 floors to Minerva and 3 to the main building. It absolutely kills you
we have no time in between classes and my school is hugeeee
Rachael Xo my school is huge as well it’s also got loads of people
We have 5 minutes, it’s two buildings and each one is three floors
We have 10 minutes but we have a bridge connecting the campus across the street
Not gunna lie, and slightly off topic, but I read minerva and Scotland and thought you were talking/joking over Hogwarts 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤔🤔🤔 I might have harry potter on the brain #teamslytherin
Her Voice is soooo calm...lovely to listen
FYI, if spirit week is your schools way of saying homecoming, schools almost indefinitely go lax on the dress codes that week (as long as it fits theme of the day or whatever)
Don’t worry, most American students don’t know those math words either lmao
I'm really surprised she doesn't know the term. Typically, Swedish students are better educated than American students and are normally a year or two ahead of them, so she should've already learned algebra in her country.
Yes she learned it but in Swedish ... she just don’t know the English word for this (I think)
Jay Don’t project.
@@23magneta I read an article where it said that Swedish students were struggling in math, especially algebra, at the middle school level.
23magneta yes we have algebra. But not in the same way as americans
I love how positive you are! I hope you’re enjoying America so far & have made more and more friends each day!❤️
Well you are a girl or medicine
You have like the most soothing voice I’ve ever heard🥰
I’m starting Swiss high school this year and just watching you talk about back to school stressed me out big time. Happy everything went well for you, I hope it goes well for me
The whole time I was thinking oh this poor girl she has no clue what she in for
Älskar det här, åhh hoppas att du gör flera vloggar med dina kompisar!!💗👏🏼
awww she’s doing algebra 1 😖. the way you pronounced parabola was so cute in a weird way.
It's algebra 2
Simply Sofia ohhhh it looks EXACTLY the same lol
Isn’t parabola the same word in a lot of languages and this really does look like algebra 1 material more than algebra 2 or maybe it’s just review lol but then if it is review you’d know this info already? Idk
Anna Vereschagina I’m from england and I’ve legit never heard the word parabola before. either we don’t do that in England or I’m stupid 😂
as an american high schooler myself i can say we love exchange students, you’ll make friends very quickly!
Vegetarian food isn’t hard to find... you just went to a place that specializes in chicken...
I feel like u will have lots of fun at this school😂❤️
During my freshman year, we had an exchange student from Germany and she was like best friend. I was so sad to see her go back home, she taught us a bunch of stuff about her home and what it’s like there.
“say something aMeriCAN” I’m dying of laughter I just can’t-
Ok I would be your friend if you went to my school, you seem like such a calm and sweet person!!❤️❤️😊
We had a Swedish exchange student this year and everyone went crazy when she got here, you'll definitelyyyyy make friends.
Vegetarian food here is not hard...you went to Chick-fil-a 😂😂
Isabelle Lynch when eating out in the US it can be hard, especially at fast food restaurants
Kiara D taco bell
In Europe they literally have none of the same food chains, how is she supposed to know which places serve good food? Plus all of your chains are really famous so she was probably excited to try it and didn’t realise they wouldn’t have much vegetarian food
Is blogging the first day of school being an exchange student like a trend or something, I just saw another youtuber do it
i read the title wrong and read “first day at school as an american exchange student” n heard you speak n didn’t question anything because your english is perfect omg
