      Kboges would likely say that if you do pullups 3 times a week and want to emphasize on biceps that you do chinups 2 of your pullup sessions and pullups once. He doesn't do isolation work he often said, so he'd incorporate it in a compound movement, like the chin up. Its also good to note that the chinup is often described to be one of the best excercises to do for your biceps in terms of muscle activation.

    • @Kboges

      This.

    • @Kboges
      @Kboges  2 дня назад +20

      My suggestion would first be to get really good at pull ups and chin ups. If it's not enough growth, you can throw in some isolation. But I think most people will have a really well developed pair of biceps if they get beastly at vertical pulls.

    PS - any advice for chest development with press ups? Wide grip has never felt great to me.

    • @Gamerda69
      @Gamerda69 3 дня назад +2

      For chest I'd highly suggest you to try having your hands a little outwards of your shoulder (going wide puts unnecessary stress on your shoulder joints) and make sure to keep your chest even to your hands, never lean in front which will shift the training to your front delts, always keep your chest even to your hand placement, make sure to touch the floor with your chest and go all the way up and squeeze your chest at top, hope it'll help you ^_^.

    • @J01123
      @J01123 3 дня назад

      The best thing I ever started doing (stolen from this channel lol) was hands up about 1-1.5 inches off the floor on blocks. Then to make that harder elevate the feet. The stretch is key for really getting the pec stimulated. Going slow and controlled too. If you just fly through the reps it just burns the front delts more

    I've only been incorporating your workout philosophy for a few weeks now. I'm going 5 days a week with Fri being the total failure day since I have 2 days off to recover. I'm trying to break myself in when it comes to HFT. I alternate between 2 different workouts switching them between days, one set each exercise until my ability to recover reaches the point I can add more volume. I'm 68 and expect it to take time to adapt so I'm in no rush. Maybe after a month I can add another set. I had problems with CG push ups hurting my wrists and just moved them out a little wider ... but still within shoulder width so I'm pleased you confirmed this is just fine. I can definitely feel them working. I've also noticed I'm much weaker on CG Push Ups than I am in regular Push Ups and closing the gap is a nice little goal to shoot for. Thank you for your advice. Excellent channel!

    as always, I love how simple you make everything! Been following you for ages and I recently introduced your channel to my mum, since she's expressed an interest in building up some basic strength. it's so easy to get overwhelmed with information about fitness, and she, like me, was a huge fan of the way you break everything down into really basic movements. she's had long term problems with sciatica and ufortunately squats seem to irritate her sciatic nerve, but she's started doing some regressions of pushups, and also hanging from a set of rings frequently.
    you're a huge inspiration man! would love your perspective on beginning training as an older person, how to build up from no experiance and work through some of those chronic issues that sometimes arise with age.
    keep up the great content!

    • @Kboges
      @Kboges  День назад

      Thanks for the support over the years and so happy to hear you got your mom into training! If she can't squat pain free, maybe she can play with other movement like low step ups, wall sits, high box seats etc. There is probably something she can find or modify to work for her.
      Yeah I have trained a TON of older folks. I generally have them start with way less that they think they need and very slowly expand their capability. A bit part is only working through ROM that they feel comfortable with ad with movements they can control and present a low injury risk. Everything is about making it sustainable, so that means starting out in a way that allows for consistency and enjoyment. It's not about pushing someone to the limit, but giving them an opportunity to build up through a consistent practice.

  • @Alex__3

    For me the best Tricep builders are Dips and One arm push-ups (Full ROM)

    • @Kboges
      @Kboges  3 дня назад +3

      I’m with you on dips, for sure. Personally, I like these better than one arm push ups because the tighter joint angle at the elbow almost guaranteed a greater emphasis on the elbows in terms of proportional contribution.

And a keto diet with 2 meals a day. I want to make this a lifestyle for the next 20-30 years of my life. The only thing I’m unsure of is how many repetitions to do in each set. I’d be very grateful if you could give some advice.

      @Kboges  3 дня назад +32

      So that set up is almost EXACTLY what I used (and I’m in the same boat as you). It works really well for me. A lot of this stuff isn’t so much about whether the tools you pick are effective or not, but more about whether or not they are good picks for you. What you described would be an extremely effective lifestyle but ONLY if it is a good match for you and sustainable.
      In terms of reps per set, a few reps shy of failure is a good bet for great stimulus and excellent fatigue management.

      Enjoy these!
      Yeah still do around 3 hard sets per day. I will change things up from time to time, some training blocks doing more volume with sets further from failure, and occasionally fewer sets taken closer to failure. I will sometimes have a fixed rep target but usually 3 hard-ish sets works really well for me.
      Thank you for the support over the years, Mike! Always great seeing you in the community as well!

      Yes lifetime natty and plan on being so until the end. The only way I would use drugs is if it was somehow going to improve my life expectancy or quality of life. Like if I was 75, got into an accident, lost a ton of muscle and strength, and doing some steroids could help me regain my quality of life so that I could spend more time with my wife and kids, I'm in. Otherwise, I have 0 interest in anything that is going to rob me of potential time with them. I see the tradeoff, especially for young men, as being an exceptionally terrible one. The future will be here one day, and I don't want to pay the price then just so I can be more jacked now, for no reason.
