wild works has been losing so much money since the whole feral scandal. I'm not even surprised that a dying company is increasing prices. members in AJ don't even get a lot compared to nm so there's no real reason to get one-
I agree like personally I’m just gonna buy membership once in awhile maybe every second month it’s not worth it for me to buy 600 sapphires now
@@LeamonPuppy I've been only really using aj as an oc creator nowadays bc I can't really get into all the new features they're making. Like, I've been around since AJ classic and I just wanted all that was there in AJPW, but oh well. Ajhq is dying and there's not a lot that resurrect them.

I can understand both sides of the situation. I can understand why people are getting mad, they have to spend more money on something but I can understand why AJHQ did it as it was possibly due to inflation. This game has been going since 2010 and it was bound to happen at some point.

Great video Leamonpuppy! I’m super disappointed that the sapphire prices are changing since that’s how I get my membership. 😢 but I guess it’s not too much more. I think you should make a video bout the user Zmonkey. There are pictures of the account before AJ classic was even in its public beta stage, and was in the first ever trailer for animal jam, and the account is still active to this day! You can find pictures of the account online. You could maybe even do an interview with them? :0

The original animal jam launch trailer shows it too, but it’s been deleted from the official channel. I hope you’re able to find something this topic is just so fascinating to me!
Honestly, to be fair, it is really easy to get sapphires now because of shops.
I definitely think that they are going a bit overboard with the money type of stuff.
Some people definitely see it as them becoming more and more money-hungry.
I think that 500 would’ve been fine but they making the sapphires price 600 is crazy

I think they also need to lower the price of the sapphires you can purchase. Currently, it's $20 to buy just 1300 sapphires. Anyone could make that amount in an hour with the shops.
And maybe they just need to increase the amount you can buy. Like, someone may be more likely to buy 3500 sapphires for $20 rather than just 1300.

7:58 was totally me LOL I don’t usually defend AJHQ on ANYTHING but I understand why they had to raise membership prices. I’m only shocked that it didn’t happen sooner, because for a while I expected that this eventually would need to happen.
I have plenty of sapphires though (I was given some by a friend recently) and I only visit the game to keep in touch with old friends at this point, so this really makes no difference for me personally. However I do feel for those who still need membership to make AJ content and now have to work even harder just for the bare minimum amount of 600 sapphires.
My advice for those of you who want sapphires quickly: Log on daily to collect the 5 sapphires you get if you’re still a member, play plenty of minigames, sell stuff in the MyShop, and create several backup accounts to repeat the process. (You do NOT need membership on the backups, just grind minigames on them and buy stuff from your MyShop with those accounts.) With several backups, transferring all the sapphires you earn from those accounts to your main adds up rather quickly. Trust me. 👍

Yea imo that was the wrong decision to make when they really need more money. I can understand that a company obv needs their money but i feel like they fail to remember that their game is targeted at a younger audience that doesn't even most of the time have their own decision making in their purchases as they need their parents money.
I think it would have been better to maybe make new toys or merch that would sell better than this, and something makes me feel like this price change will backlash at them but ig we'll see in the future
It saddens me that they raise the price, I am one of those people who have a hard time getting sapphires because their parents don't buy them sapphires and that, but I understand what it is because they need money (If I'm not mistaken, that's what you said, it's understandable why they have to do this, they've also given us several updates, if I'm wrong, I'm sorry! But I'm not good at speaking English because I speak Spanish and I've already said it many times in some comments xd) Anyway, I love your drawings and your videos, I hope you'll be more recognized soon!
New AJHQ is slightly money hungry, but it could be that they need to put up prices, because peeps are playing less, (What I mean by this, is that less people are joining new, and older Higher level jammers are quitting since they get bored etc, therefore, less jammers are on the game, and less jammers are making money purchases (buying sapphires or membership) so they still need to pay their model makers, artists, animators, coders, moderation, etc. And inflation is obviously a thing, plus with the new, more expensive membership, there will be many more features, so its not just paying more for the same amount, it's definitely still worth buying, even if it costs more sapphires and money. Although unfortunately it will make membership harder to get for those who always pay with sapphires but nothing can be done about that.

I can understand this. there's a lot of possibilities I can think of on why they're doing this. The obvious answer is players being able to purchase memberships without needing to pay actual money. Another is probably trying to recover from the closure of both Cinder and Feral.
I cannot say that I will be spending more money on a Wildworks game ever again as they silently closed down two games within 2 years, but I can totally understand this as a business move.

I remember when i started playing, it was 500 sapphires and i thouht it could be lower but- whatever.
Then they lowerd it, MY DREAM CAME TRUE it was 400 sapphires for membership! And now- not so much. Its 600 sapphires :l
I was sad, still am. I pay for the one year membership, so it doesn't really effect me, unless they hire that too.
I think animaljam is getting a little money desperate though. Ive seen the price of sapphires go up too, the 200 sapphire bundle was

I feel that it’s reasonable for the cost with money increase, but the shaphires is not okay, people already have a hard time getting 400 for the membership let alone 600 and it may end up making others scam just to get the extra shaphires, I feel ahja should keep the shaphire mem price the same.

When you purchase something from apple and steam, they usually take a 30% cut and the developer/publisher gets the rest

I'm with you, I understand both sides of the situation. I personally sometimes buy membership but it's not like a thing. I don't need it. I think Animal Jam needed it lots of people get tired of it maybe stop playing for a month or two, get back on or just don't. This was a wonderful video thanks for giving me the idea to buy membership now. I am currently struggling with sapphires expectantly to pay the 400 when I want it but I'll be happy to stop as long as I can still play AJPW. I love your videos thanks for updating me on everything that is happening!

Honestly, not surprised. I’ve never actually bought a membership ever, I was given a gift card but that was really cheap for what it was (pretty sure it was 3 months for £5). Other then that I’ve been able to buy it with sapphires due to My Shops most the time. I can see both sides. The only reason I even bother with the membership is because of some of the member items, specifically Automatic Pet Station (I forgot the name lol), anyways. But tbf since Cinder failed so bad they need the money. I don’t blame them. And tbh many people will still buy it. They are people with like 100 shops and 30 Auto Pet Stations, you can’t tell me they haven’t payed for those sapphires. Honestly it’s just a slight disruption for me if anything.

It is honestly kind of annoying that they are changing prices. I'm a sapphire member, however I can see both sides aswell. It's understandable that AJ is changing the price of membership, but also it makes it a bit annoying. I'll probably do what you're doing and buy it every other month.

Same, They did it to me 2 times once in 2019 and again in 2021. Got my parent dashboard banned so I lost all the accounts connected to it and they still never told me why.

I agree- I totally get that prices everywhere are getting more expensive, and so animal jam has to, too. But also, many people aren’t going to want to buy memberships anymore so obviously, as you said, it was a hard decision for AJHQ, because they will lose many membership purchases but also for the few they will still get, they will make much more money.
I’m not surprised they changed the prices of anything. They’ve literally changed the 1$ for 100 sapphires to an completely different price and amount, which I usually bought that one if I had extra money. The price of the membership was already high enough anyways, though, I see were AJ is coming from.
I understand why they have to do this, but it still infuriates me. I've saved my sapphires for a long time just to buy monthly membership to use member den items, since den decorating is the only reason I still play besides the occasional masterpiece stuff. Now I lose sapphires way faster, and as a kind of poor person I don't have much to sell at all. It's really hard for me to make a good den at all because, of course, a lot of the member items are a lot nicer than normal ones, like the oven, fridge, daisy pot, etc. I've already been considering quitting for awhile, and this only makes it worse. Also, my parents don't let me spend money on in-game currencies no matter it's my money or theirs. It's already hard enough to get them to allow me to purchase anything on a game, but this price change makes it even harder since they already think it's a waste. Anyways, this is just my view on the prices changing. :)

@@LeamonPuppy it said it failed cuz It said the info was wrong even tho it isn't. I did everything to fix it, I re-typed the info MANY times, had two adults type it for me incase i was blind and kept spelling something wrong too. made me go crazy so I gave up on it after a few attempts
AJ was bound to have a point where it was dying inflating, i’d just love to see some good new features come out of my money.
5:23 This is because Apple, Amazon, and Steam tax their appmakers money when they charge money to their customers for ingame items. Google I'm unsure. They probably wanted to keep the price in the app the same on all platforms to avoid confusion, because this confusion is already enough, obviously, but Apple Tax is something like 67% of the user's purchase or something ridiculous, and Amazon, Steam, and maybe Google have much more reasonable taxes. (these taxes go to Apple, Steam, Amazon, and maybe Google, not the government)

It's still gonna be the same price on the membership website, it'll just be less accessible. I myself don't get the 600 sapphire change, they don't say anything about the sapphires changing.
I just hope this money will be used to update classic. Its a very slim chance but just one update and im happy

I can absolutely see both sides too. Tbh, I would rather them increase the price then take away existing features and lock them behind a paywall. It’s not THAT big of a deal when you think about it, cuz you still can buy it for the cheaper price on the website. The sapphire increased price though?? That makes no sense to me, and I am a bit upset about that. Regardless, it could be a lot worse tbh, even if we are not happy.

Tbh i wanted to get a membership ever since i started aj. My patents promised me ill get it on my 12 bday but it turns out that my country doesnt exist in their paying list so i rlly think i should just quit the community
it's been years since I played Animal jam. I played the original animal jam. I just remember having my dens filled with plushies, trying to collect ever single last plushie. I made trades to get a plushie that I was looking for. I also remember my little sister getting a membership first before me and me getting sad and our mom telling her to share her account despite me having my own account. But since membership can also be bought with sapphires maybe I'll start playing again. I remember also trying to log in to my old account but it not working, not sure why but I no longer care about that account. I was a child when I made it, I used my school username and password. I also asked some of my ex-friends who were playing animal jam if they could look up my account, account no longer exist.
EDIT TO ADD: I JUST CHECKED WITH ANIMAL JAM CLASSIC MY OLD CHILD ACCOUNT IS THERE! I FORGOT THAT MY EX-FRIENDS WERE PLAYING ANIMAL JAM PLAY WILD NOT ANIMAL JAM CLASSIC!
I dont play animal jam classic or the mobile version often, but its pretty disappointing for other jammers. But still, in the future i might play aj and im a tad bit excited for the “new features” aj might add. I also like your dog-like art on princess/leamon! Its cute :D

im okay with the price change. after all, in my opinion, its not THAT high. and ajhq really puts effort in the ajpw - you can still enjoy the game and nothing is completely paywalled. yes, some things require a membership, but compare that to AJC and you will see that oh, its much better in ajpw.
i still see many members in the game - its cool to create own pack and ect ect. members ofc have perks.
but right now, membership is more of a little indulgence for the game, not a requirement (think of classic, or even club penguin.)
i would buy a membership just to support the company, they sold it to nazara, and im glad as i think its a very good change. i want to see the game grow.
ALSO! prices in steam and ect rising makes sense. the website takes some money off the game, so maybe its just for the website
i woulve been less mad about the cost of membership going up for classic if they've updated classic a bit more. we just get recolors and thats it. wish they could implement more features in the game- especially considering how many old players are coming back and the game is slowly reviving
I'd say it's inflation (and wildworks' failiures), but the membership prices are only changing on steam and mobile purchases, so it must be because of the store purchase fees
I might not be buying using the money method, because it would be kind of expensive for me ( Because of it now changing to 743₹ INR ). But if they make it good enough with the updates, I might buy it ( By Sapphire Method ).
I don't know anything about money but I feel like it might be slightly better to keep it the same or lower it a lil bit. I think that because if they made it even a lil less because parents might want to not buy it because of it getting to be more money. They could get more buyers if they changed it to less. Honestly I kinda feared this would happen, but I’m not surprised. The company has already lost a lot of money, and with less and less players, shutting down feral, and creating a new game for NFTs, (which also shows how they are getting quite desperate, because they are literally making a game that advertises for the exact opposite of what they’ve been promoting for years: a healthy environment) so I suppose it was inevitable that they were eventually going to bring up prices. But like, thats a lottt of money per month for a membership… I’m sure some people don’t mind paying it. However, they have already had complaints over the years for membership prices, so I think raising prices would just make people even angrier… I doubt anyone would want to pay hundreds of dollars yearly for the game. I have a feeling that eventually, they are just going to make the game itself cost money to download. If there will even be a future for Animal Jam…. :(
To be fair, I have over 1500 days of membership left. But I can see where WildWorks is coming from. Taking inflation into account, and how hard they were hit after Feral, it makes sense. Also considering some games have monthly memberships as high as $20, I'd say $9 a month is pretty fair. And Play Wild is a lot more non-member friendly than Classic, so at the moment it isn't really a must buy.
Also steam and google play specifically are notorious for keeping a large cut of profit. So that could explain why it's only changing in app stores and on steam, and not on the website itself. Because on the website, they keep 100% of the money from purchases. Unlike other platforms. I take the change as AJHQ just keeping up with the times, which I think is fair at the very least

I mean, if aj classic gets a new update and new adventures and new areas and stuff, I would be more than happy to pay to fuel that update!! I have been wishing for new areas, new animals, new dens, new little clips, and ESPECIALLY new adventures for an insane amount of time!!!!!

Personally, I understand why AJHQ is doing this, but at the same time, I'm probably going to stop buying membership.
I don't use membership don't need it it's a scam I'd rather work my way up really really hard work sometimes it takes me a year to to get to 100 Sapphires sometimes it takes a month and if you think it's boring waiting this long that's because it is and sometimes things are seasonal and I miss the opportunity and it's too late I have to wait for another year for what I want to come back sunrise sunset sunrise sunset day and night month after month week after week again and again and and again it's kind of a paradox how long it goes but that's how it is for me I'm now 14 I started when I was five that's a good 9 years of waiting whatever I really want to get the haunted mansion but I miss the opportunity I have to wait for next October and nobody buys at my shop so it's going to take me awhile I'm literally selling a rare or two for 15 diamonds nobody's buying them so im left waiting and waiting.... Aging my life away.

I honesty Don't care about memebership in animal jam I play the game fine and I would rather spend sapphires on items and animals or other things then membership it never really effects the gameplay the only thing that really does is being a guest account but I'm not so in my opinion I honesty do not care

Well we don’t know what this could mean for animal jam yet, and I do believe inflation is a real thing and potentially why animal jam raised the price. Everything is going up money wise it’s just the bad times rn. Although it’s annoying that sapphires are like 600 now I personally am only gonna get membership every second month it’s not worth it to get every month
They had rumour animal jam classic was going to have an update or a reboot so I’d assume they’d maybe spend some of the money on that

Yes if you have a membership subscription that’s a few months then it the price won’t change for you.
And on the website you can buy the regular price too! Lots of people weren’t aware of that. So when it runs out try using the website to purchase ur next membership
