My unbiased review continue with this very cheap hurdy gurdy, the Baroque by Vrabel.
I AM SORRY for playing so horribly in this video. I strained the instrument with strings that were way too thick and used a wrong setup in general. Please forgive me and watch more recent videos.!!!

Finally a maker that makes it possible for low entry price into hurdy gurdys.
I'm buying one this month, I'm a begginer but I definitely want to play it. So as I don't have a lot of money I thought this one would be ok for a begginer. Wish me luck! Thanks for the review ^^
Let me know how it goes!
yes, how did it go Alanna? im very curious as to if I should buy one of these
How was it
Please let us all know!
@@sunofslavia i think it went well her channel is of her playing it
Nice. Love the Gurdy.
Thanks!
I would say: tune before you record a video, if I didn't know that these instruments are almost untuneable.
i have the same vlabel, apart from the colour of the wood is different. It's my first hurdy gurdy and it's taught me alot. I can play the black sales theme and patty gurdys, the longing.
great review!
Wait! So you can get it to sound good enough to play The Longing? Can you please record yourself playing it cause that song is a big reason I got into the hurdy gurdy and I have the same one as you.
Gordiy Starukh makes a 3 string instrument at a similar price, which sounds very good.
Well played
Take a look on Nerdy Gurdy, it's a laser cut one, with slotted sides. It looks quite competitive, especially taking into consideration that you can download drawings for free, and the kit itself is 300 euro. I'm looking to make one myself, it seems quite tunable.
Hey, thanks so much for the review! I just went over to Hungary to get me a Hungarian model! I love it but I suspect that it could be refined quite a bit, just like you indicated in your video. Is there any way we can get in touch to discuss the various modifications? Would be great!
Marijn van 't Veer sure! Write me a pm
I'd love to but RUclips disabled that :-( As a channel admin, you can enable "Business Inquiry Emails", then I can send you a message! (alternatively, you can click on my name and go to the about section of my channel, and send me a "Business Inquiry Email", I enabled it just now).
Ouch. And I can't see your email yet. Try writing on my facebook page, "Ars Antiqua Duo"
YES BLACK SAILS THEMEEEE YES
10:02 Well damn, I bought one of the Galloping Gurdies...
What do you think about them?
I fell for it too. Galloping gurdies phucking suck and fall apart easily.
Really? - In that case I have a bridge to sell you.........
Someone needs to make a hurdy gurdy ios app
630 euro... that's nearly 950 CAD$. and this doesn't include shipping.
... I shall wait, before buying one.
Best way to start out practicing the hurdy gurdy would be renting one if you have the means to get one that way, if you find an instructor with two and that's willing to lend you one for lessons and practicing that's probably gonna be the best deal you can get.
The clicking of the keys drowns out the sound of the music!
I understand that some might not like clicking keys, but for me it's a feature of the hurdy gurdy, I wouldn't mute them.
Well, the gurdy is a very individual instrument, and I'd expect some of them to be "clickier" than others - of course it's a matter of personal taste.
Why is galloping gurdys get such a bad rap heard one I think it actually sound better than the nerdy gurdy the own said it's a lot of work but it did sound good
just eat the damn orange !!!!
That really is an abysmal sounding gurdy. AWFUL.
Then why are you watching a video about beginner gurdies id you got a better one already?
@@CaptainGurdy There are better beginner gurdies on the market.
No offense, but you people making these videos just don't GET IT. If people do not have the money, they can't just reach in their ass and pull some out. If they can afford only a firewood gurdy, admit it, it's better than nothing.
I would rather have no Gurdy and save up for years (which is what a lot do) than a piece of firewood that's going to break my heart.
@@FitZhurdygurdy If you have to save up for years for a gurdy, maybe go for a harmonica?
@@BirdWhisperer46 A lot of players had to save up for years to get a Gurdy. I had to save up for ages and cut expenses like coffee and eating out. It's do-able, you just need a bit of patience.
@@FitZhurdygurdy How much did yours cost if I may ask? And where did you order from?
@@BirdWhisperer46 I started off with a Nerdy, which you can see on my channel. That was about 400 in total.
My newer Gurdy is by Boudet and while it was still expensive it wasn't so bad because I had been saving for a couple years.
