Do you already have a compost heap in your garden, or would you like to start one? I would love for you to tell me all about it in a comment!

We do have an open box where we just pile on stuff and never take any compost from the bottom of the pile. I wouldn't even know how I would be able to get to the composted part when there are still fresh vegetable scraps on top.

Hi Jiska, that is a great start, and probably you have some lovely ripened compost waiting for you! A second box might be useful to move the fresh(er) scraps to. That way you could empty the first box and use the compost that is ready. Another option might be to open up the box at the bottom - maybe remove one board, use it as a little door, so to speak. And then use a spade or a shovel to get the ripened compost out from underneath the pile. Hope this helps!

@@thegardenismycoach Thanks! Great advice! I am going to do this. Think I will start a second box!

I would love to learn more about composting especially what to put on your compost and what not (heard potato peels might be bad and citrus peels also?)

Thank you, I'll start thinking about making a comprehensive guide for easy composting. I'm not one for the meticulous scientific approach that one often hears about 😅

@@thegardenismycoach it doesn't have to be meticulous or scientific. Just some pointers or tellen what you yourself put on your compost heap, would help.
