    Hey coach, calling Sanda a part of wushu or kungfu is definitely not wrong or some sort of a confusion, it's the "keyboard warriors" who make a mess out of this. I live in Europe and our national Chinese martial arts federation is actually called the "Romanian Wushu Kungfu federation", I was a member back when I was fighting in Sanda competitions (b.t.w. I never owned or worn any special Chinese clothing while doing it, we used generic sports outfits just like you do). Wushu is an umbrella term covering a lot of related but different things, not only the basic forms you're generally referring to. Yes it includes various forms demonstrations (including weapons), but also many types of actual full contact fighting, of which Sanda is just the most most popular (probably because it's the only one officially considered a world-wide regulated sport). I agree that Sanda is in some ways a mixed martial art, but in other ways it's less complex and more limited than other kinds of wushu fighting, there's a lot more to this than the highly regulated Sanda ring competitions.

      If you don't mind my expressing an opinion:
      1) Product Recognition is extremely important. That's what "Hype" is all about.
      2) Choosing opponents carefully to maximize product recognition is also extremely important. (Our Brand versus "Brand X"). And it works . . . until you get a "Buster Douglas whups Tyson" moment.
      3) Worked fights have been happening regularly since "Bruticus vs Sparticus" bouts between Gladiators. They will always be underfoot, ruining your reputation and the veracity of reporting. That's because promotoers don't want to keep having to groom talents for success every time an honest bout slays their favorite.
      Conclusion? It will always happen and most every promoter is just a Don King wanna-be. They will never learn, because . . . money blinds the most discerning eye. When you fight, you do it for a reason. When promoters book fights, they do it for a reason, too . . . only it isn't your reason.

    Hi, Ramsey! I always watch your channel and I'd like to congratulate you for the good work. One of the things that I really like is the fact that you use your videos to think and express the things you think about and not just to talk about fighting 100% of the time. And you do it without losing track of your subject, that is fighting. Just as you did in this video. I loved your insights about nationalism and national promotion strategies, linked with your comments about the specific fight in question - and you could expand this line of thinking to reach the socialist central planning of the economy, which seems to be somehow still present in China, although not in the strict communist sense of the concept. And your final line of thinking in this video, about the possibility of UFC not giving a rematch to Jessica Andrade or giving a chance to other competitors that doesn't deserve a title match with Zhang Weili so that UFC can become popular in China... And, as you questioned the centrally planned interests of China, I question the interests of the market, of the business... Just as the centrally planned China promotes its interests through fake fights to create the next hero for the glory of the People's Republic of China, the business minded UFC promotes its interests through selected matches so Weili becomes a hero for the glory of the UFC brand and it's profit...
    Well, sorry for the long text and possible english errors... Greetings from Brazil!

      people who train 2-3 times a day and eat super healthy will end up looking like that most of the time, especially if they have a good strength&conditioning program, plus good genes. also, USADA test all their athletes, no matter where they are

      @@Lbvg That wouldn't make your forehead grow, or develop your neck muscles like Andrade. There are biological limits, and brazilian fighters are known for being pretty liberal with "the juice". I can only expect that to be equally bad or worse in China. So, from the "science project" perspective, it was a fair fight.

    Why does Ramsey Dewey always has this furrow?

    • @OoohAaah6603
      @OoohAaah6603 4 года назад

      It could be a frown from constantly analysing the mystery of life and the universe? Or as someone pointed out to me it's also an indication of a stressed Liver (Ayurveda I think) anyhow because of that information given me I went for a check up and sure enough I had a damaged liver which I now have to take care of... Maybe Ramsey should get a check up? Maybe he's taken one to many liver shots (non alcoholic type).

      Ramsey's FINE 'Oooooh Aaaah'..He's likely to enjoy analysing Life, the Universe & everything because he's an appreciator of 'the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.......'Ooooh Ahhh' ??? - Sounds like a deputization from a 'Janov Primal Scream' therapy group.....lol

    Hi brother!
    Great show. I really liked that you took the time to talk about worked fights.
    One thing that i do believe should be covered, is that Weili is NOT THE FIRST CHINESE to win a world championship.
    That honor goes to a young lady by the name of Xiong Jing Nan aka the Panda.
    She took the strawweight title in ONE FC earlier this year.
    She is currently going for a two division title this October in Tokyo.
    Not to take anything away from Weili.
    Keep on rockin' brother.

    Besides appreciating your insightful teachings & opinions, another reason that I love watching Your videos is simply to hear your Beautifuluse of the English language.
    My Mom was a teacher & instilled this love of the English & Afrikaans languages into Me.
    Thanx for another great video.

    Really nice video Ramsey... it honestly gives the need for watching the fight again to get the details. Great analysis of the situation!
    By the way! I would like to ask you about something that I would like to see in a future video. Some time ago you talked about how wushu schools worked nowadays in China, those "real" and those for "tourists" and the myths around actual wushu.
    What about talking this time on how Traditional Chinese Medicine is seen nowadays in China, do you know cases in which they use Traditional Chinese Medicine (phytotherapy, acupuncture, etc...) in professional fighters (MMA, Sanda, etc...)? Thanks a lot!

    Hey Ramsey, I trian taekwondo and a training partner told me that running make you kick slower, I don't know if that's true but I still running every day. My question to you is, what can I do to kick more explosive? , kick faster but without losing my power because a lot of TKD guys are lightning fast but they don't have any power.
    Greetings from Chile, you are a true inspiration my friend.

    Thanks for sharing. When you found out that the fights were fixed and that you participated in, did you quickly and safely turn yourself into local authorities, notify the proper athletic commissions and pay back all proceeds to the IRS?

    • @RamseyDewey
      @RamseyDewey  4 года назад +1

      I don’t think you understand what “fixed” means. When someone loads their wraps and attempts to murder you in a cage fight, you don’t turn yourself in and give away your fight purse.
