The one Disney channel that actually had the guts to show real life scenarios that real teenagers go through everyday. I’m so glad I grew up with this show Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo taught me so much. Lizzie McGuire and Boy meets world we’re my life coaches growing up❤️🦋
I really loved the episode where Gordo tries to throw a Bar Mitzvah so that his classmates will view him as a man, despite him not being as buff as the other guys. It shows that boys can feel insecure too, not just girls.
I remember really relating to that & similar episodes bcuz it made me wonder what makes me a man, bcuz I wasn't as buff or athletic. It's like how I used to be embarrassed of watching Lizzie McGuire bcuz it had a female protagonist. My dad told me I couldnt watch shows about girls. But my mom said that's perfectly fine & said she loved how cute the show was. She said she also loved how educational it was, touching on the actual challenges young people face
That's why as someone who's AFAB, I never thought masculine puberty was funny at all. I went through my own issues so I could've only imagined the turmoil.
Lizzie McGuire was one of my fave shows growing up. It really helped me ( along with my mom) what is like to be a preteen. Thanks Lizzie, my mom, and Disney, y'all rock! And thank you Ms. Mojo for showing this video, your helping young girls get through thier preteen years to.
I used to be embarrassed of watching Lizzie McGuire bcuz it had a female protagonist. My dad told me I couldnt watch shows about girls. But my mom said that's perfectly fine & said she loved how cute the show was. She said she also loved how educational it was, touching on the actual challenges young people face
Looking back, the episode where Miranda is accused of stealing is actually a case of racial profiling, too. The fact that her friends (who are white) weren't interrogated by the security guard but she was is something to think about.
Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven where my all time favorite shows. They help me thru so much and understand a lot of things. That my Pre-Teen and Teenager was going thru. I will always have a special place for them in my heart. 💓💜
Lizzie MCGuire was such a relatable show for me. Especially the episodes about crushes. The episode about Miranda’s eating disorder stood out to me because it raised my awareness of these disorders.
I definitely related to Lizzie being a Guys Girl. I grew up with Brothers and no sisters. And my mom was a Tom Boy. So that's why I feel comfortable around guys and not awkward.
I used to be embarrassed of watching Lizzie McGuire bcuz it had a female protagonist. My dad told me I couldnt watch shows about girls. But my mom said that's perfectly fine & said she loved how cute the show was. She said she also loved how educational it was, touching on the actual challenges young people face. It was 1 of my favourite Disney shows growing up, along with That's so Raven & Suite Life. It would be fun to see you do a vid like for this for Suite Life Would you please @MsMojo? :)
Female protagonists are awesome. Forgive me for saying that I don't know what was going through your dad's head when he told you that nonsense, but I'm happy you listened to your mom.
Out of topic but the fashion of this series is top tier. Like, lizzie’s outfit and miranda’s was and still is so iconic. Kudos to the stylist of this show for serving us the aesthetic of fashion.
Gordo's grandma breaking out of elderly woman habits was an interesting episode. Gordo is looking forward to doing all the usual grandkid/grandparent activities with her visit, and while grandma is looking forward to the time together too, she's not going to bake cookies and watch game shows on tv. She's developing new interests and hobbies and it's freaking Gordo out because he wants a stereotypical grandparent, not an unpredictable one.
@@MsMojo How can this series be interesting to anyone? Now I realized that Lizzie is a teenage slut who wants fame and recognition. Nobody explained to this slut that fame doesn't last forever. Today you are at the pinnacle of glory, but tomorrow you are not. As a rule, it ends badly. Nobody explained this to me when I was little either, but I guessed it. Therefore, I avoided publicity in any of its manifestations. No amount of fame and recognition is worth damaged nerves or even health
All Lizzie wants is a bra, and poor Gordo, Matt and her dad had to listen to that. But man, I remember how uncomfortable wearing my first training bra, but the episode taught me how many different sizes and type.
I remember turning down the volume so my parents and brother wouldn’t overhear because I was just as embarrassed as Lizzie 😂 I never heard a training bra, got boobs super early and my mother never helped or gave money for female products like bras or tampons so I was embarrassed while thinking omg lizzie is actually so lucky to have a mom like that, just needs to tone down the embarrassing statements at the shop 😂😂
An episode that I really loved was when Mr. Keith arrived in school and we see how Teacher-Student Dynamics played out. It was the antithesis to Aria and Mr. Fitz in ‘Pretty Little Liars’.
One storyline that should have been included in general is losing a friend. When friends no longer share the same interests and have a struggle with respecting it. In other words ending a meaning a friendship for growth.
yes!! i still remember the episode where kate and lizzie had to be partners for an assignment and they talked about why they stopped being friends, and they worked through their arguments to make a good project
I think one that should've been on the list was Lizzie's time as an advice columnist. She's giving good advice but then someone comes forward and says her words of wisdom got them in even bigger trouble. It wasn't bad advice at all, but the situation with a bully took a bad turn. One negative outcome negates all the positive ones for Lizzie and she feels a personal responsibility to make it right with the person who got hurt following her advice and bears all the burden herself instead of the bully causing the trouble.
I loved every aspect of this series grew up with it and just recently re watched it in yet inner beauty one of my faves yes it has a serious issue of body image still like that message also when kate bullies anyone in the series also an issue you can't really bully anyone it's totally on the line of gossiping and hurting people's feelings also breaking a statue is school property grounds for some sort of punishment
Well, it was called off because the creator Terri Minsky quit her job as a creator. Plus, Adam Lamberg, who played Gordo is no longer an actor and is just a regular guy, so there’s no point for a revival if people don’t want to be involved
"Gordo and magic dwarves" covers addiction. The game made him neglect eating, sleeping and his school work. He even lied to his friend to get money for cards for the game. That's no longer a strong interest, that's addiction. All his thoughts and actions were focused on the game. Otherwise a great listing!
Please make a video of 20 times Degrassi tackled serious issues. The show is rife with those such as mental illnesses, bullying, racism, misogyny, homophobia, teen pregnancy, eating disorders, parental abuse, etc.
The security guard accuses Miranda of stealing but never thought about checking the security camera? The security camera is suppose to be evidence as well.
I really like the episode Night Of The Day Of The Dead. No one can deny that Kate is a self-centered, obnoxious and haughty teenage girl who has no respect for Miranda’s culture and rudely rejected a Dia De Los Muertos-themed Halloween party just because she was in charge and is convinced that the planet revolves around her. That episode proves that there are going to be events revolving around one’s culture and if you don’t like it, don’t show up and accept their point of view
Well, I have no sympathy for Kate even though Lizzie gossiped about her given Kate’s always bullying Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo and she’s convinced that the planet revolves around her

Lizzie getting a job and being a busser is hard because she’s in middle school only . She’s not age appropriate to do that. In real life you can’t work at a restaurant until you’re 16 to 18 and maybe have a food certificate . A job that is realistic would maybe a dog walker or babysitter.
Just saying, the El Día de los Muertos episode was...weird 😅 it was weird that it was treated as a Halloween episode by "haunting" everyone as a joke instead of actually treating the tradition as such. Kate looked a bit racist on this episode tho, I'll give them that. 😂

I know who I'm making for the Sims 4: High School Years!! ^_^ Nostalgia train, full stop! Edit: The only thing I may not have liked about the show was how thin and lithe the girls were, but that's because I looked nothing like them growing up (I was probably an F or G cup at 15 and had a belly and a big butt. I'm Latina/white, but grew up in a very white culture. Even now I'm not sure if I really held that opinion or if it's just how I feel now.) Now I'm also upset looking back at it because the show is sooo white, like many Disney shows. >_< Glad we're getting past that a little, but Disney also needs to remember that there are more cultures than White, Black and Chinese. I think I went through most of the show thinking Miranda was white because her last name didn't come up very often and, like me, she was pale. Oops.
I don't get the bit you meant about Disney needing to know there are other cultures besides White, Black and Chinese, their biggest hit of the last year was a Encanto about Columbian culture (with Latin people of all colors, not just pale) and the literal character you mentioned was Latina, not to mention Gordo was Jewish, etc. Over the years they've had characters/films/shows outside of being "White, Black and Chinese", the ones I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg.
