I have a rather unique suggestion for you POLO. Find the movie Rocket Man which is sort of a biographical of Elton John. Whether on a streaming service or DVD, Blu-ray, etc. Watch it, take it all in, maybe even take notes, then do a reaction video for the movie (his life), and maybe play a song that really got your attention. Great movie, interesting life story, different kind of request, but I think if you give it a try it will be a rewarding experience.

More and more of you reactors are doing this. I understand you want/need to monetize this undertaking, but it's impossible to recommend anything anymore unless you buy in to a reactor's patreon channel. That can run into some bucks, depending on how many subscriptions you have. PLUS, if you're like me (70 and homeless) the last thing I'm spending money on is a patreon account, even though I have recommendations.

Well, you've said a few times that you really like songs that are a bit "dark" or sad....Try Elton John's CANDLE IN THE WIND, his tribute to Marilyn Monroe and then he changed up the original lyrics to it when Princess Diana was killed and sang it at her funeral as a tribute to her. Real tear jerkers

I went to one of his last concerts in 2022, at Levi Stadium. He smashed the keys, and sang his ass off for an hour and a half, at 75 years old. Dude is a legend. I’m 48, and just started getting around to really sitting down and listening to these legends. I grew up with 90s hip hop, and my parents listened to this. Now it’s my turn to pay my respects to these masterpieces.

Sometimes a song doesn’t affect us when we first hear it. This song was popular when I was a kid. When I hear it now, it reminds me of when my sister listened to Elton’s albums in her room. I would lay on her bed with the album cover and just stare at the artwork. Elton was huge back then. Just recently, I listened to his Audible book. He and his songwriting partner, Bernie, had a musical chemistry that was a recipe for incredible success.

My biggest regret as a music lover/fan of both Elton John & Freddie Mercury, is that they never got around to doing a collaboration together… The piano playing alone would’ve been unforgettable!
(Elton & Freddie were best friends; they used to even attend each other’s shows, sitting in the wings. When asked in an interview about collaborating w Elton, Fred just replied “Oh, we’ll get around to it sometime.” But of course, Freddie ran out of time when he got AIDS.
Just before passing away, one of the last things Freddie did was to get Elton a Christmas gift. (Freddie knew Elton w/b getting after he’d passed.) So on Christmas, a month after Freddie had passed away, Elton said he was sitting at home feeling sad when the unexpected gift was delivered… a painting by Elton’s favorite painter, w a handwritten note written by Freddie. Elton still cries when he talks about it.)

I loved your reactions to both Rocket Man and Tiny Dancer so when I saw that you were going to react to I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues, I thought "Oh no". Even though it was a hit, I wouldn't even put it in my list of Top 50 greatest Elton John songs. If you want to see more of the phenomenal song writing of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, check out Skyline Pigeon and/or The Greatest Discovery videos "Live at The Playhouse Theater (1976)". Not only had Elton's voice gotten even better (hard to believe) but it really gives further evidence of their writing genius. Elton was only 20 when he wrote these early melodies but, even more amazing, is that Bernie was barely 17(!) when he wrote the lyrics.

Most Elton songs have a beginning, middle and end! You only get the end, if you listen to the beginning. The beginning might not be to someones taste, but it all comes together. This is in a 1950s style. Its of a certqin style and period. It took me a long while to get this song, but now i love it.

I really enjoy your honest take on first time listens. What I find amusing about music and film is that the pieces that resonate with folks are so often unique to the person. I agree with your take on that song, but I'm sure it resonated deeply with the person who recommended it. As an icebreaker, I used to ask people to tell me what their favorite funny movie was and why. I simply NEVER had anyone double up on the same title. I have lots of songs that I felt everyone should love but came to learn that wasn't always the case. I do find it fascinating to listen to other peoples' favorite tunes... it really is a great way to discover music new to me. I imagine, that's pretty close to your experience with this channel. Great reaction as usual. Keep it up!

Just a comment on Elton, this song is nice recorded in 1982. The other two songs you have reviewed are from early 70's (the two most liked of all his music), there really is no comparison between the two eras. Suggestion two songs for 1975, Philidelphia Freedom or Somebody Save My Life Tonight.

My favorite Elton John song is Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters. I know you will love it 💜

The song was supposed to be an homage to songs of the 1950s, so that is why it sounds old school. You can tell that if you watch the music video for the song. Elton has a pompadour in it. LOL

U should watch the Elton John biography movie Rocketman. He's a musical savant. His lyricist eould give him words and he would just sit down and put it to music. He can hear something one time and play it perfectly.

I really really wish you would look at his Tumbleweed Connection album. Any of the songs would do, but my favorites are Come Down in Time and Talking Old Soldiers.

Elton John sang a song called Nikita that wasn't typical, but I really liked it. Maybe give it a try.

It's not one of my favorites, but it's still a classic. It's definitely better than a lot of the stuff that's out today.

For what it’s worth, to me; this is a time and place song. Some songs transcend. Some songs go hard, some songs go slow. It’s got a place and it’s not everywhere. I don’t want to hear this coming out the tunnel on game day, but if you feel it with someone, you can vibe to it, kinda thing.

Try Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting Elton's rock and roll song. If you give it a try do the original recording first then go for the live stuff. Thanks man!
