This mission is a great foreshadowing to what is to happen also to Quelthalas later in RoC with Arthas and the Scourge. Funny, that here you would also control DEATH KNIGHTS and raise the dead as quelthalas falls.
And so ends the lives of Alleria and Sylvanas Windrunner and Kael'thas Sunstrider in a godforsakenly early way... this sure feels unnerving with Warcraft III in mind. Love how this game makes the redundant Cleric/Conjurer and Necrolyte/Warlock units of the last game into the far more effective Paladin/Mage and Ogre-Magi/Death Knight units, with some nice lore in the manual as to why to boot. If only Starcraft 2 were this deep in unit evolution with the arguably perfect SC1 arsenal. However, for an awesome unit, Death Knights (not shown here, unfortunately) sure still spawn weak Undead whilst being easily curbstomped by the cheaper Paladin's Exorcism. Ogre-Magi Bloodlust. Oh, how I love and hate that overpowered ability. 11:04: According to the wiki, the aforementioned nations never fought in this battle, and with that in mind, it's speculated that the only forces fought here are three Elven Ranger Corps. groups, though not properly named due to game limitations and such.
Excluding with whatever the wowwiki or pedia says or what the retcon Rosenberg: ToD novel says, I believe in this mission, this aint the heart of Quelthalas itself. More like just the southernmost edge of the region, given how close its proximity to Darrowmere lake and Strathholme and Tyrs Hand, which are all mainly human villages. So its believable to have some human forces around this region from either Lordaeron and Stromgarde and even Dalaran, which are all close bonded with the elves. I believe this mission is not Silvermoon City itself. The burning of the southern edge forests of Quelthalas (this mission) is also one of the reasons that embitter King Anestarian Sunstrider to have his elven nation be remove from the Alliance prior to Warcraft 3 timeline.
