    Great to see one of these again. I was fortunate enough to own a red example of the turbo back in the 90s it was an amazing car to drive, so incredibly fast and very, very rare, I remember embarrassing many fast cars from that era , it was outrageous. Your example looks really nice , thanks for letting us see it 👍👍

    Stunning motor , well impressive

    Wonderful work you've done on your Maestro Turbo. It's a credit to you. It looks ruddy awesome. Makes me think of a white one I put a deposit on and was going to part ex a UR Quattro for it but the Quattro got knicked so the deal fell through. Got the Quattro back a few days later but the Maestro had gone 😢. Anyway its been a great series following you with this car. Looking forward to the next episode 👍👌

      Long time ago but seem to remember the stepper motors, as you have found, causing a lot of head scratching.
      Lots of replacement ECU’s The local dealer had a shelf full of them which they just rotated - “Here, try that one”.
      Surprisingly fast cars at the time but a bit unreliable originally, which was a shame.
      Keep up the good work.

    Had one in white back in '95 when I was 19. Ran it for 18 months. Loved it. Smoked most cars I came up against at the time. Sold it for what I paid for it. Bloke who bought it off me had it for three months, then destroyed when he crashed. They did a great job of what was basically a shit car, go really fast 👍

      Not surprised a lot were crashed, brakes and suspension not really up to the job imho.

    Absolutely stunning car mate - well done! I used to own a Montego 2 litre EFI estate which was a great car, and very quick. I never really appreciated the Maestro's looks back in the day but I absolutely love to see it now. It's also nice to see the underside of a car without all the protection covers. I'm not surprised you got an MOT pass because that car probably looks better than the 3 year old cars the MOT tester sees for their very first test! Not even kidding! Enjoy it!

    Had a Monty Turbo back in the day, was phenomenal for 1989 Standards but my recent Gen 8 Civic Diesel had the same power ration and 0-60. Good memories though, drove all versions of the Montego and they were a good motor at the time but turned to Rust quicker than you could say "Ferrous Oxide" so hence the reason they are as rare as Hens teeth.

    I had a silver maestro ie turbo and it was a animal on the road. I will never forget the day I sold it and I'm still trying to buy one now and it's been since 2002.it was a head Turner with the turbo on the side and the red carpets. Jheeeeeeez the cars these days never come near to the old skool cars like a astra gsi or a fiat uno ie turbo or a fiat polo g60.i even had a vauxhall lotus calibre with the same colour as the lotus carlton. It was fucking radio rental driving it lol.another one that got away. I know who is selling it and it is going cheap. It'll be worth it in the long run

    • @RetroRatchet
      @RetroRatchet  6 месяцев назад

    • @shanedaly9737
      @shanedaly9737 6 месяцев назад

      @RetroRatchet I heard a little bird by me that he has it but he sold the lotus carlton wheels. That's no problem. I got a bit shook when you said you fancy buying it. Is it in your possession now? If so I'm definitely interested. If its still the man in bristol then I can negotiate with the price. Its a 1 off.and it drives like a cross between a calibre turbo and a lotus carlton. What a car that would be after money spent on it and with a set of lotus carlton wheels on it. I would definitely show it off. Big up to you bro 💯

    Very impressive, I had a non turbo efi for 16 years, sold it in 2007. What was the mileage when you bought your tubo and did you have many rust worries ? Mine was a 1987 and amazingly it was fairly rust free, I should have kept it, a very underated car.
