Honestly looked much better than last years spring game. Both sides of the ball made nice plays. Offense started explosive and defense made nice adjustments

I’m glad no one got hurt because I always hate seeing players get hurt in the spring game, but these new spring game formulas are super boring to watch.
I’m very grateful DG chose to play at OU… but goodness gracious he does not throw a football like Jackson Arnold 🤣

That was a saftey and the D aligned so bad on that play im assuming it wsa a 4-2-5 formation but they should have adjusted one of the LBs over to that empty side would have been able to fill that gap or at least gave the saftey time to get
an angle as a former QB if i saw them line up like that deff checking to a run to the right easy money
Hawkins flashed i thought. If Jackson struggles shouldnt hesitate to play him.
My concern is his arm, but he is a true freshman after all. He seems very mobile. He needs work on his progressions I think.
I think you should definitely hesitate to play him. We aren't going to win it all this season, and new starters tend to struggle as they adjust to college play in their first year.

Josh Bates played extremely well. Kicking game needs dramatic improvement or it will cost us a game.
Damn. Two coverages busts and a wide open QB run TD where no defender was even in the screen until he hit the endzone. That looked bad in this game. Other than that, this team looked pretty good.
1:53 Idk why the D aligned like that but we can't be doing that in the season literally noone on the right side and the saftey despite the ref in the way was so late to his assignment , they had six guys to the left for just a trios 3 wr stack and a TE the one of the LBs should have shifted over

Yep.. We're seemingly going to have to deal with the pains of a lack of anticipation and timing. Hopefully it's growing pains, and not a permanent pain.
And hopefully it doesn't cause him to make bad decisions by speeding his timing and anticipation up.

OU should have a solid defense but that offense is questionable. Good receiver core but the oline may is likely one of the worst int the SEC. Not a good combo with a first year QB.
I see OU going 7-5 or 8-4. 9-3 would be a very successful season.
The 1st team oline was fine. Also ou will get some guys back by the start of the season that are currently banged up…

Can't say that I feel any different after watching the spring game. I'm just kinda 🤷🏽♂️ about it.
Burkes was as advertised. JA and especially the O-line was better than what I felt I was led to believe. Not amazing though. And the defense didn't look as good as what we were lead to believe.
But they seemed to be playing soft, compared to an actual game. And they were vanilla. Though the defense blew a couple of plays despite being vanilla.
I don't feel like a lot of intel was gained from me as a fan. I don't think we'll have much of an idea until they open the playbooks during conference play.

I think the defensive front 7 will be too small for night road games where the refs don't call holding against the blue bloods. It's an SEC thing

Arizona only lost 1 game in regulation last year, and it was against Washington by 7 points. And OU was without several starting OL, new QB, and a couple defensive players.
