Claudio needs to buy a cheese grater & a better spreader... you'd have a pain in yer face sanding off all them bumps & lumps.
I'm not going to lie, I love this series and all of these videos. I love how you show the process really is, but I think my favorite two parts have been how honest you were in this one, especially with Lori having to calm you down over the door latch, and then where you talked about being frustrated over the Jeep and Claudio having to stop working on Kona to do the wench. I love it because it shows that it's not always a smooth, easy process. Thank you for that.
My compliments to Claudio. So many times it looked good to me, but Claudio has spent years looking for imperfections to fix, and the patience to fix them properly. A master of his craft 🙏

@@Prestone44 добрый вечер, вы меня удивили как они не хотят восстанавливать автобус??? Простите может я чего не понимаю в их видео к сожалению у меня очень плохой английский и я просто пытаюсь догадываться об их процессе работы. Мне 63 года и мне очень нравиться эта модель автобуса.
@@user-re5mj9ww9o Здравствуйте Сергей Проверил перевод текста и действительно есть ошибка. Я не говорю по-русски, и я использовал переводчик Google. Судя по видео, восстановление Коны идет очень хорошо! Я никогда не видел реставрацию, сделанную с такой тщательностью.

31:25 That silicone lubricant is going to come back to cause problems with the paint unless you are very careful and clean, clean, clean... A lot of body shops won't even allow silicon stuff in the door.
I worked for a company that made paint filters for GM, absolutely no silicone was allowed at the plant

I really like what you are doing with the bus. Just a warning though, don't use silicone anywhere on the bus or in the workshop. It will affect paint adhesion causing cats-eyes and is very difficult to remove from the work area once it is contaminated.

I can imagine that it is frustrating when you compare your work to Claudio's or Robert's...Try to remember they have an incredible amount of experience...What you don't know, they have seen and dealt with a lot of times...Enjoy the journey and keep in mind, you are building your vehicle from scratch and learning it intimately...Might take you longer, but you are learning as you go...Looks great so far...

Love this series, Claudio is a master. You might want to go back take a look at the side door latches that were giving you so much trouble (if you haven’t already). It looked like they were backwards, the angle should be towards the striker plate on the bus.
Can't wait to see your first test drive. Also kinda curious why they didn't epoxy the bus before the filler... I know it makes doing metal repair much harder (can't use the spot welder on it), but it would have sealed it up for the Hawaii weather.
I personally put direct to metal primer before Bondo always, needs a barrier in my opinion
My online friend the van is coming along more and more won’t be much longer and your and your friend be traveling down a highway with it can’t wait and can’t wait to see what might be a possible next project

Didn’t expect so much bondo, the body looked clean to me…
Large "flat" pannels are never realy straight especially over large areas.
I've done some bodywork over the years. The thing about Bondo is if it's done right more is sanded away than is left behind. And as always, the prep work (Hammer and Dolly, etc.) takes a LOT of time! I "restomodded" a '71 Camaro many years ago. The 5 previous owners (car was sold from friend to friend over many years before *I* got it) each had butchered something, and they just slapped Bondo on the dents without knocking them out first! Spent a LOT of weekends on that car over 25+ years until I finished it!
You seemed very frustrated today. Not your happy go lucky self.
It does look clean but nope, nothing perfect, if no bondo, then paint, bus will look crap and wavy, I seen buses like that… horrible… like what Phil said… Claudio did correct way fixing dents back to flat as possible then bondo, sand all way down as much as possible

Who say that will peel off? Claudio knows what he is doing. That’s only way to do… you can’t get metal sheet perfect without putty. If you see putty peel off because it’s bad job 😅
Also, something I just thought of is that Claudio could totally clean up with his own channel, especially like an ASMR channel where he just does his awesome work and uploads that.

That "Old brown GM car" (late '70s Buick or Olds Cutlass I think) needs new bronze bushings in the driver's door hinges. Knock the pins out, new bushings in, should come back to factory alignment if nobody has tried to adjust the hinges. Done it a couple times. My '76 Monza the hinges were welded to the door and body! 😆
7:32 / 44:54 No need to stress and get frustrated. We all been their. Best advice is walk away, go out to some coffee. When you come back you can figure out things with a cooler mindset. If not… you spend hours and get so frustrated things start breaking etc… That’s part of being a VW owner. It takes time to restore and rebuild a car from the bottom up.

The sanding/reapply/resand/reapply/resand/etc.... is the long boring part, but you are lucky to be working with the best in the business there. Don't get discouraged... it's quite a process.
Yeah I want to show people how much work it was… not just simple job and why restoration is expensive. Best business is just Claudio. Robert is not very good business man, don’t communicate, don’t check on us, don’t make plans, not very professionally… mostly why we are frustrating

That old brown car appears to be a GM "G" body style from the 70’s. Some classic designs from back then. Only weakness was the metal used, never dipped and prone to Rustin out in key locations.
