wow... you see many 12-year-olds doing amazing fouettes on YT, but I think this girl has something you cannot learn, no matter how hard you work. Amazing!!! And what a choreography! Bravo!!
I have watched First Position on Netflix so many times. Gaya and all the other children are amazing. I'm not even a dancer and I can't get enough of it. I have such a respect for the dedication and passion these kids have at such a young age. Gaya's mother choreographed this dance, as it says at the end of First Position.
I love Gaya, shes not afraid to think outside the classical ballet box. That being said, with this routine if she made a mistake, how can the judges tell. This is a brilliant strategy!
Good for her...I am so glad she did. She is an amazing, beautiful, talented young lady. Her mother is an excellent choreographer as well, and this routine proves it.
Awesome! Genuinely playing with the possibilities of dance. So zeitgeisty. Great artist and choreography. Must be something in the Israeli water. Inspiring. xx
"So Many People in The Neighborhood" by Ween on the album Quebec. The band is called Ween, and the two main members use the stage names of Gene and Dean Ween, but they're not biological family nor is the name of the band "Ween Brothers".
This is a masterpiece. After Dalí painted "Persistence of Memory" (1931), he asked Gala if, after having seen it, could someone forget it in three years time. She replied: "no one can forget it once he has seen it" (Dali, 49). The same I´d say of this presentation. I had to go back and watch it over and over. Impressive talent! Absolutely original choreography. Congratulations, Nadine. Congratulations, Gaya. Perhaps the best contemporary I have seen yet. (Celo Austin, philosopher art critic).
wow. this is incredible. she's very musical. and her body isolation at the age 12 is amazing. Not to mention her expressions are very entertaining. contemporary really seems to be her thing - the wild horses dance is amazing too
You are stunning, my little cousin. I am only seeing you now in this incredible piece. I remember the adorable little girl I first met years ago in Paris before you became famous ! 😁❤
Trying to understand the narrative: 0:03-0:33 exposition: character building - happy innocent mood 0:34-0:47 conflict: surreal happy mood in transition to ambiguity 0:48-0:54 rising action: tense mood 0:55-1:22 climax: extreme tension 1:22-2:03/2:07 falling action in form of secondary climax: new problem (1:35) introduced - in a slower, surreal sad mood 2:07- 2:24 dénouement: happy innocent mood RUclips (2011, June 23). good! that means that she made you feel something, that is the point, evoke emotions through dance, and in that she is an amazing dancer. Can't wait to see more of her.
She's in the award-winning documentary "First Position," guys. And she is a fantastic dancer. Amazing technique and artistry - not a lot of 12-year-olds can convey that.
I know nothing about ballet I'm a 30 m from Scotland and I watched the documentary and there were some talented dancers that's for sure. This dance, Cartoon girl is awesome, So kool.
Her mother knows how to choreograph ....and that being said Gaya really knows how to portray a character and she knows how to maintain her character and emotions
For me, it's more that her character plus the music choice makes her come off as a chuckie doll that is kind of cute, but really creepy! She is obviously extremely talented and a has great artistry and presence.
Have you even tried modern dance? Cause is very difficult much more than you think. Just to do silly things you need a huge control of your body, and is not easy at all, I can tell you that. A good modern dance is the one that makes you feel something because the music, the movement and the dancer are related with the lyrics. Even if you don´t like it is important to respect the style, because there is a lot of people that makes a huge effort to do what you consider a joke.
The fact that she is dancing to Ween really impresses me.
Nice Randy picture
I'm glad to see someone recognize The Residents.
The Residents and Ween are my two favorite bands
mr. bungle is kinda funny, never got too into them though but yeah i'm a huge Zappa and Mothers fan
Yeah, Bungle is definitely not for everyone. I suggest you check out Pink Cigarette and Quote Unquote by them, if you haven't already.
wow... you see many 12-year-olds doing amazing fouettes on YT, but I think this girl has something you cannot learn, no matter how hard you work. Amazing!!! And what a choreography! Bravo!!

Do you realize she won with this choreography, right?
Good for her...I am so glad she did. She is an amazing, beautiful, talented young lady. Her mother is an excellent choreographer as well, and this routine proves it.
@donna it's a bit unusual but she is extremely talented!
Man, that was awesome. We need more people dancing to Ween songs.
And this girl's a killer dancer.
Awesome! Genuinely playing with the possibilities of dance. So zeitgeisty. Great artist and choreography. Must be something in the Israeli water. Inspiring. xx

Ween brought me here, thanks Gene.

Dean & Gene should be proud.

THATS FANTASTIC!!!
There's something subversive about this. I like it.
she has extraordinary physical and emotional facility for such a young dancer!
Amazing. Born to perform. She's so much better at this than ballet. Really hope she becomes a contemporary star.
Fantastic. It is different but that is the way Ballet is going. No more boring stuff.Gaya is amazing and soooo young
I'd love to see her do hip hop. she's fantastic.
This is sensational! She is very talented, talented enough to make me super weirded out! Loved it!
She has always been best at contemporary

She's amazing. I saw her in the movie First Position. And her mom choreographed it too!
Ahh I loved this! Great choreography and well executed. So SO good!
this is fantastic, the way she moves she doesn't even look human and that's incredibly hard to do
how the heck does she do that? This little girl is amazing. Such a versatile dancer. from classical to this?! crazy!
She's so adorable! I love Gaya!
good! that means that she made you feel something, that is the point, evoke emotions through dance, and in that she is an amazing dancer. Can't wait to see more of her.

She's in the award-winning documentary "First Position," guys. And she is a fantastic dancer. Amazing technique and artistry - not a lot of 12-year-olds can convey that.

Her mother knows how to choreograph
....and that being said Gaya really knows how to portray a character and she knows how to maintain her character and emotions
Awesome.
Really really good!! :D
this reminds me of that dance on america's so you think you can dance, with the song from Les Triplettes De Belville.
Wow! Very creative
I watched this video and listened to cry babies by crystal castles at the same time -goes well together
Thx for the suggestion! I also played Cry Babies over her performance and it was great together.
That was pretty cool not going to lie.
וואווו ! מדההייממההה !
Excellent!!
At least we found the girl for the remake of The Exorcist.
For me, it's more that her character plus the music choice makes her come off as a chuckie doll that is kind of cute, but really creepy! She is obviously extremely talented and a has great artistry and presence.
I can't even believe this was just a dancer and not any effects
alienation in modern society is my guess. for the song at least.
this was a great interpretation of the song. bravo.
This girl is genius. And her mom for this choreography. Weird, creepy, awesome.
she maintained character so well
cool that was really interesting choreography.
I dig! Very cool
Mooooooyyy Hermoooso Gayaa!

I got the gas. And the coke. I don't sell Molly no more!!
I love Ween and the song definitely fits the dance. The song is weird as hell, silly, completely out there but still manages to be fucking catchy.
Great isolation work
By far the scariest creepiest thing on the internet
Genius!
מהממת!! היא משלנו... כל הכבוד :-) She is from Israel
Thanks reddit
WEEN BROTHERS!
The Description says it's in Paris. However, the background reads "Youth America Grand Prix."
Yeah I knew it was a Ween song, I just didn't know the title.
Well that was cool.
This looks interesting.
Deaner sent me.
