Let’s have an honest discussion. I don’t want to group all 80s and 90s groups to make it seem like there was no skill involved. They were the pioneers and had a great flow. But the technicality and wordplay of some of these artists/groups were just nursery rhymes. You might not like modern rap but I see a lot more flow switches and different rhyme schemes. When was Melle Mel ever good? I’m honestly curious. If I listen to someone like Biggie or Big Pun, then I’m blown away and realize their talent. When I listen to Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, I appreciate the message they want to get across but where is the skill when it comes to straight rapping?
There's a lot of dudes in the 90's that had some crazy skill. ALOT!!! Also, the 80s had dudes like Scarface, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane and many others.
