I initially thought that Giulia's dad was going to be more of the hunter guy antagonist, but I was pleasantly surprised that he was not the villain. Cause even when Luca tells him Alberto doesn't want to be found, Massimo still goes looking for him. He's more of a big friendly giant, like Tong in "Raya and the Last Dragon."

I really, really want a sequel set the following summer too. The end credits contained some still shots of their lives during the next year and I watched the whole credits hoping there would be just one of Luca and Alberto's reunion. But there wasn't. :(
"You can't tell me there is not feelings between them" Me (an intelectual): Of course there are feelings between them. They are friends and love each other very much :)
The handshake that they had was a childhood joke its pretty much a greeting saying hello nice to meet you im twisty trombone that is why they twist their hands and then pull and push like when you play the trombone
Im italian, usually we don't say things like "santa mozzarella" or "santa ricotta" and other. We usually say "dio santo", "o mio dio", "caspita" that's like "damn", "cavolo" that's like "fuck" but not vulgar, or "cacchio" like "dammit" or "damn". Btw i love this movie and there are not too many stereotipes, so it's perfect
The ending of this movie gets me so badly every time, I literally just start audibly sobbing. And I adore the shot of the island that's bathed in light, it looks so beautiful and peaceful. But what makes it truly so gorgeous is that it's alone now. No more of the young sea monster boy waiting for his father, or of the sea monster boy grieving having lost his only best friend for what he thinks is his fault. It's alone, abandoned, as it should be. Because just like Luca, Alberto is now free. 10/10 movie for me. I just love it so much.
8:18 I was in theatre today.... And sweet jesus its really amazing Btw, the story is based mostly on the directors - Enrico Casarosa - childhood and he has friend named Alberto too.
The cards are Scopa cards. It's a great game where you have to match numbers to get more cards then the other player. The seven of "Denare" is the best card with 22 points, the 8,9 and 10 are the worst cards with 10 points. The "Scopa" is, when you take the last card what is laying on the table. It's an easy but very fun game.
Loved this movie! I honestly never really thought of Luca and Alberto as a low key love story. I honestly saw them more as brothers or family. Ya know, Luca being an only child and he now has the brother he never had and Alberto now has a family after his blood family abandoned him. I mean I'm not mad at the idea of Luca and Alberto being a love story. I'd support it and love it. It just never really crossed my mind until now.
im glad they made a movie finallly about frienships. everything is romantic and im happy they made a movie showing u can find happiness in other relationships
Honestly yes there is something between them, it’s called friendship. I don’t want to be mean or anything but there can be a movie with just a friends and not any romance, plus I not homophobic don’t get me wrong but I’am tired of many who loves to ship characters who are just a friends (also they are kids so they are only BFF or more like brother bond between them). But if you have your opinion it’s ok.
You have expressed my own thoughts, I agree with your every word! I am part of the LGBT community, but honestly I'm sick of seeing romantic ships everywhere. I find it much more interesting when less represented relationships are analyzed, such as a true deep friendship or a bond of brotherhood that is not only dictated by genetics but by how much you care about a certain person. Friendship can be as strong as romantic love and even more, this doesn't necessarily make two people in love in a romantic sense!
12:43 lol no there's isn't anything going on between them, they're just really good friends that have each other's backs 🤣 and it's cuz of stuff like this, some guys are afraid to express themselves for fear of coming off as gay. Lol but it's a movie and you can make your own back/future stories. But no lol nothing is going on between them
Did you see the story being told in the credit illustrations? They're so cute! I just wanna see a mini sequel of Alberto and Giulia's dad bonding so badly!!!!! TwT
Me and my friend watched luca together during a sleepover and we’re screaming how gay it was and cute luca and Alberto were there just adorable together and in the ending we were crying
Onestly, not all the city in Italy have schools, expecially in most poor towns or they are very far away, perhaps, there where a lots of motivation for luca to leave, everyone in the town know that he is a sea monster, so is dangerous for him to stay in that town.
1:48 fun fact! tarot cards ARE the cards used in the italian card game (seen when alberto and luca first make it to town). it was only later did people associate divination elements to the card deck, so it makes sense for the audience to first think of tarot cards when luca picks it up here. also another fun fact: the Page of Cups means "innocence/curiosity/dreamer/new beginnings" so it was very intentional for the animators to choose this specific playing card to be what luca finds.
I watched Luca and I can say i absolutely enjoyed this movie, glad to see that you reacted to it!😁 I think Luca and Alberto relationship is platonic but if it’s something more I’m cool with it.
There are SO MANY reasons why I love this movie! But one of the top points for me is that the director took inspiration from Ghibli films to make this, and it shows! Especially in the after credits. I read that even the town "Portorosso" is a direct nod to the movie "Porco Rosso". He even intended it to be Luca's last name initially. But the art style and the feel of the movie is a beautiful blend, and has quickly stolen my heart as one of my favorite movies! ❤🐠
I think it should have a sequel series where we can see more of Luca and Giulia’s adventures in Genova and Alberto’s in Portorosso. And when summer begins again they can reunite.
You have GOT to react to Infinity Train, season 3 will no doubt make you cry. This show is dark but the writing is AMAZING, with amazing synth music in the background, fun and lovable characters, mystery, and so much emotion! Gotta watch it, 4 seasons 10 episodes each, each episode is 11 minutes long.
This movie is so beautiful Its like Small world turns into a bigger world and a bigger world can turn into Bigger Dreams and possibilities. Its so beautiful ⭐️❤️
The reason why they don't go to school in Portorosso is that... actually there isn't any middle school there. We are between the 1950s and 1970s so we can assume they're in the 1960s. In those years, kids were obliged to go to school only until the fifth grade of elementary but if the family couldn't afford to send them to middle school, they sent them to work. There were cases where the town itself couldn't afford to have a middle school or teachers for it, reason why rich kids for going to middle school have to take two trains everyday that could take them to a largest town or a city where hopefully there was a middle school (and if u were rich enough, also highschool and in the future university) the family could afford. In this movie, Genova is the nearest city, where Giulia's mom also live, so is the only choice they have to go to a school for their age.
💛 love love love the allegories, of course it's impossible for Disney or Pixar to be openly queer but the Subtext is plan as day. It's such a beautiful film, I watched myself & my family the 2nd time
Reminder that they don't have to be in a relationship or love interest to consider them gay/queer, it could be a coming out story, wanting people to accept them as who they are, it's a sweet movie
Also Also, I too saw the subtext and I am never going to buy the corporate LIE that these sea babies are straight. The hand holding, the emotional connection, the putting yourself in danger to help each other? It's the "if this were a boy and a girl doing this ,you'd know they were in love " for me. It's the "How am I gonna know you're okay?" " You got me off the island, Luca. I'm okay. " for me!
People say she was put as a "love interest" BUT I felt more spark between Luca and Alberto. Usually Disney makes it obvious if there is a love at first sight or "this is gonna become something more" vibe but I didnt see it at all with the girl. When she was gonna leave Luca wasnt as affected as finding out he was gonna part with Alberto. Plus isn't the whole female third wheel a huge trope in European and some Asian gay films... Just saying....
I think the power of imagination is highlighted well in this movie. I didn't get Queer subtext watching this the first time, thought it was a summer movie with friends. Came to the internet and now I see the movie differently.
I also need a sequel now😭😭😭😭. As they do not make me the sequel, I lock Andrea Warren and Casarosa in my basement and they do not leave there until I see a movie of about 2 hours where they leave MY DEAR ALBERTO, Luca, Giulia and others😡🤣🤣🤣🤣. I really need it, it can't end like this, too many doubts, Alberto's father, Giulia's mother, how she will go to Luca at school, it's too worrying !!! 🥺😢

@@petersaysthings I knew he was, because of his character overall, especially his continuing abuse and obsession with Luca and Alberto. I hate him so much! 😡🙄
Yes yes we do
Another thing that Disney made that is SUPER GAY is Owl House. It is such a good tv show and season two is coming out right now!
The cards are not tarot cards, they are playing cards. You usually play some games like scopa and briscola with those. Scopa and briscola are very old games that are nowadays played for the majority by old people or at family reunion.
thanks for the clarification!
@@thebestofstephx you're welcome,I hope my comment wasn't rude and btw,love your videos
Scopa is my favorite playing card game. Was introduced to it through a Nancy Drew computer adventure game set in Venice, Italy. SO much fun. Lol
I hope you watched the credits, there's a bunch of cute little sketches detailing little moments of all the kids- you get to see Luca and Guilia at school together, Alberto and his new dad hanging out, Luca's family, it's all super cute! That said, I CRIED when Alberto revealed his dad just LEFT him. That's somehow WORSE than him being yet another Disney kid with a dead parent. But also, Mrs. Scorfano where are you, I just wanna TALK. WHERE'S HIS MOM, DISNEY? IS SHE THE LATEST VICTIM OF THE MOM SERIAL KILLER IN YOUR CANON?
They need to not be cowards and just create major production films with appropriate 2SLGBTQIA+ lead characters...and have none of them die and or isn't toxic.
They were so close
If there isn't a Luca 2. I've lost all excuses to live.
True lol, i need Luca 2 so damn bad
There should be more of Disney Luca like a TV Series on Disney Channel with Luca and Alberto as the main characters, not sure about a 2nd Movie.
Yeah this was a pretty wholesome film, I love the friendship between the characters.
Yes
I ship Alberto and Luca, the way they hug, hold hands, touch it’s just like god they are so cuteee u can’t tell me they don’t have feelings for each other. They have more chemistry than 90% of the REAL Disney couples
My favorite part was when the older ladies come out in town. That is a combination of metaphor and storytelling that works really well...
The squad of Saint Cheezes joke was really funny.
I WANT A SEQUEL SO BAD I BEEN READING FAN FICS ANF IT HELPS ALOT, I SHIP LUCA WITH BOTH ALBERTO AND GUILUA
wait there’s fanfic? do you have any good recommendations bc I need more content lol

SEQUEL SEQUEL!!!
Imagine if those 3 were competent enough to actually hit Alberto with the harpoons- that would become real dark real quick
i swear my whole family thinks i’m so weird for having like 5 reminders for when luca was going to release
I just watched Luca yesterday and it might be one of new favorite movies. I'm so happy you reacted to it~
This movie was a fun little joy :)
It was so much fun!
I love this movie! It easily has become one of my favorites, I’m gay and personally I saw a lot of relatable metaphors throughout the movie but I can definitely see the movie as just a cute story between friends. It’s great either way and I agree, the soundtrack is awesome!
would be cool to see you react to
the owl house (first season on disney+, second season airing atm)
amphibia (on disney+ and disneyNOW)
carmen sandiego (on netflix)
tales of arcadia: trollhunters, 3 below and wizards (on netflix)
I really, really want a sequel set the following summer too. The end credits contained some still shots of their lives during the next year and I watched the whole credits hoping there would be just one of Luca and Alberto's reunion. But there wasn't. :(
I also want this story to continue, but I think a sequel would not be appropriate, I think a series would be better.
This movie was so simple and yet so complex at the same time❤
"You can't tell me there is not feelings between them"
Me (an intelectual): Of course there are feelings between them. They are friends and love each other very much :)
I think you can interepret it however you want, that's what art is for
The handshake that they had was a childhood joke its pretty much a greeting saying hello nice to meet you im twisty trombone that is why they twist their hands and then pull and push like when you play the trombone
wth is this from this was a fact i didn’t need to know but nice
The song in the credits is sung by an Italian artist and gay icon, Mina. In the song, she is signing to her love who lives far away
8:18 I was in theatre today.... And sweet jesus its really amazing
Btw, the story is based mostly on the directors - Enrico Casarosa - childhood and he has friend named Alberto too.
They have to make a series to Luca. It was too sad at the end to leave it there.
Gotta love that intro😂
"Hey, my friend smells amazing"
*mm-hm so you see, that's a tiny bit....* _gæ_
Loved this movie! I honestly never really thought of Luca and Alberto as a low key love story. I honestly saw them more as brothers or family. Ya know, Luca being an only child and he now has the brother he never had and Alberto now has a family after his blood family abandoned him. I mean I'm not mad at the idea of Luca and Alberto being a love story. I'd support it and love it. It just never really crossed my mind until now.
I’m so happy you’re watching this, my family doesn’t have Disney+ so I couldn’t watch it and now I have an idea what everyone’s talking about.
im glad they made a movie finallly about frienships. everything is romantic and im happy they made a movie showing u can find happiness in other relationships
I really want to see the full movie of Lucas. But love your video and your reaction so much. Love u and stay safe. 💖
Since a group of fish would be called a school, sea shepherding for Luca would make him a Principal!
Luca is voiced by Jacob Tremblay. His parents are voiced by Maya Rudolph and Jim Gaffigan
Love can be just as pure and innocent as it can be passionate and deep
Alberto thinking no one needs him:
Her: …..no❤️
This movie made me feel things. I saw it last night and the betrayal scene actually shocked me, it hurts so much
I was surprised just how much I liked this movie. I watched it on a whim and fell in love lol..
This movie is so beautiful
Its like Small world turns into a bigger world and a bigger world can turn into Bigger Dreams and possibilities.
8:00 - Quido wasnt nice. Quido just didn't want to kill 6 people, including himself, in a boat crash.
💛 love love love the allegories, of course it's impossible for Disney or Pixar to be openly queer but the Subtext is plan as day. It's such a beautiful film, I watched myself & my family the 2nd time
It was so sad for me but it was so cute
Reminder that they don't have to be in a relationship or love interest to consider them gay/queer, it could be a coming out story, wanting people to accept them as who they are, it's a sweet movie
I love this movie so much!! And the English translation of the ending credits song got me going, "aYEE"
tbh, i can see a series being made in this, like mini-movie series
theres alot of potential stories/angles
Raya, Luca, and Cruella we’re amazing! Disney is hitting it out of the park lately.
I NEED A SEQUEL TOO! it should be called...
Alberto
Where we get to see dat lip bite again
YES
Luca is brilliant.. and the soundtrack esp the Gianni Morandi songs and very well chosen.
*WE 👏 NEED 👏 A 👏 SEQUEL 👏*
let me guess, i think it's just like "in a heartbeat" short animation + little mermaid, they're so cuteee
Those flying machines, the Coliseum, AND The Adventures of Pinocchio are all from Italy...where this movie takes place.
YESSSS UPLOAD! I loved this movie
Thank you for this wonderful reaction, Stephanie! 🙏🥰
Keep up the great content! It is much appreciated 😍🤩
Your humour is legit adorable btw! 😊
I Want to Completely Forget Everything about this movie so i could watch it Over and over again
Ahh another movie so we can fangirl I literally watched this as soon as it came out and was like
sniff sniff SHIP
I also need a sequel now😭😭😭😭. As they do not make me the sequel, I lock Andrea Warren and Casarosa in my basement and they do not leave there until I see a movie of about 2 hours where they leave MY DEAR ALBERTO, Luca, Giulia and others😡🤣🤣🤣🤣. I really need it, it can't end like this, too many doubts, Alberto's father, Giulia's mother, how she will go to Luca at school, it's too worrying !!! 🥺😢
"Silenzio Bruno" 🥺 they are so cute
5:35-6:06 basically just laughing lol.
Luca and Alberto totally belong together but get this my sister thinks that Luca and Julia are better I told her she was crazy
Mom at 8:06 just schooled them kids in hardcore soccer. 🥅⚽👍
This movie reminds me of A Lull in the Sea. Beautiful anime series about people who live in the sea and amazing visuals
