The scale of the after affects from the bomb came as a shocking surprise, and the Radiation sickness suffered by many became the single most disturbing legacy of the conflict.

I saw several theatres of war spanning Iraq, Afghan and such like.
I served as a sniper, witnessing the worst of man.... and having to kill people on order.
I've been slashed, stabbed, shot.... had mortars fired in and around our position.
But nothing scares me more than Nuclear Attack.
It is the fact you CAN NOT DO A THING to combat it.
If you're lucky enough to be in the blast radius, then you'll either flash boil from the core or be blown to bits.
If you're not lucky enough to be killed instantly, then you will suffer agonising pain through Nuclear fallout..... and watching everything you know and love slowly rot away and die.
I am hoping that the very notion of the no win scenario would be the reason a Nuclear War will never happen.

Even after Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the Japanese government was deadlocked on ending the war. The emperor had to cast the tie breaker.
This was actually surprising to most citizens
They had ended fighting before the first bomb. You don't kill civilians. Ever. When you do, it's on you. Not on anyone else.
Allegiance Commitment Via Genu Flexion no they hadn’t. It took two atomic bombs and the emperor making the decision (and even the. Mid ranking military figures planned a coup to continue the fight). The atomic bombs were an necessary evil, one that killed 100000 people to save the tens of millions that would have died in the invasion of the Japanese homelands
@@saeedvazirian total war. The entire country was a military complex. They didn't seem to care about civilians in China or Korea.
I wish they would not have surrendered. 😓
To my knowledge, what radiation does is destroy your body at a cellular level. The energized particles literally rip apart your chromosomes, which are basically the set of instructions your cells use to repair and duplicate themselves. When the chromosomes of a cell are damaged, every new cell made by onwards carries on that damage, some cells even lose the ability to multiply entirely. In bad cases, muscles, and organs begin necrotizing, your skin literally detaches from your body and falls off, because your cells aren’t being renewed properly when they eventually die. Your ability to make white blood cells diminishes, so your already weak and rotting body becomes even more vulnerable to infection. It’s a slow and painful death, we have treatments for radiation poisoning now, but they basically amount to treating the symptoms so that your body might survive long enough to recover on its own.

@@starrfam12 Before the bombs were dropped Japan was already considering terms for surrender - their ability to project force on a global stage was all but gone, the Japanese fleet and her carriers were almost entirely destroyed and it was only a matter of time. Although a dramatized one, this is a grim and horrible reminder that nuclear warfare is something no nation of man will ever be able to bear. It’s a power so terrible, it can only be described as every disaster occurring at once. It would be similar to a fire, then a tsunami, then an earthquake, a plague, a famine, and a hurricane emerging at the same time. The effects of it are more than the fireball, but a horrible cascade that unfold into a catastrophe nature itself isn’t even be able to create. Our leaders play with this disastrous weapon like it’s a toy, threatening others with it, racing towards it to become strong, when all they do is race humanity closer to its end. No country, no matter how developed, strong, or successful it is, can cope with such an event as this. Generations of people were left ruined in a matter of seconds. Cities flattened, its citizens crippled, ill, trapped, and poisoned; the world struck by awe and terror, who’s leaders struck by greed for it’s glory. This is the power our leaders play with. Denuclearization is our worlds most urgent goal, yet it’s world-ending dangers are masked by its sublime and destructive power by our leaders. Truly, I believe if Hiroshima and Nagasaki weren’t bombed, we wouldn’t have witnessed its terrible power, and thus wouldn’t have had a reason to avoid a full-scale nuclear war. For this horrendous demonstration, I believe it is the sole reason we have yet to annihilate ourselves.

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a tragic event that resulted in significant loss of life and long-term effects on survivors and the environment due to radiation exposure. The use of nuclear weapons is widely considered a devastating and inhumane act, and its consequences serve as a reminder of the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and disarmament efforts. This kind of videos would help acquaint society with the horrible consequences of radiation and atomic bombs. I read story of Dr. Michihiko Hachiya, a physician who survived the bombing of Hiroshima and documented his experiences in a diary. He wrote about the immediate aftermath of the bombing, including the widespread destruction and the horrific injuries suffered by survivors, as well as the long-term effects of radiation exposure.

Damn war! The species has great knowledge without the wisdom of how to use it.
lowkey we are so ungrateful for this home, can’t wait for it to be over so then the other planets can thrive and not be disrupted
Humanity's biggest mistake is not giving up the bomb even after witnessing this...
When the first bomb was dropped, the pilots and the crews of the Enola Gay didn't know what was going on, when the bomb exploded it felt like shell fire from the ground exploding near the plane, which is what they did think it was, when the plane changed course to head back to base they saw what they did, people were in horror and shock of what they have done, when they got back the pilot wanted to be the one to take the second bomb, the fact that people were in horror, and shock, and some of them still wanted to do it again says a lot about Humanities cruelty and the lack of morality.
And what you're hearing, is not the worst of it, there was a doctor who had left his home after the bomb had dropped, he had no clue what was going on and as he was walking around, he saw people including children and babies, who were so burned you couldn't tell that you were looking at them them from the front or the back, they were stumbling around confused in dazed, it was like being in hell, he looked up and saw nothing but red in the sky, there was bluish green fire falling from the sky due to the burning radioactive material.. In the mushroom cloud, there was a beautiful and dazzling array of light that was setting fire to everything around it.. People were stumbling to the ruins of the hospital hoping to find help, but instead they found a crumbled ruin, all they could do was walk into the water, and if people were walking into the water the skin and flesh were dissolving as if it were wet paper, to make things worse, people had the marks of the Fabrics they were wearing, burned into the skin. In the clothing that had darker areas, you can see the darker areas burned into people's flesh.. People's hair was immediately incinerated upon detonation, and the people who witness the flash of the bomb had the retinas burned out of their eyeballs...
And this is stuff that the government didn't disclose until 2006 believe it or not.
Helpless people... İt is so painful feeling 😔
I hate the people in power who ruined the lives of millions
