@@raypovio3073 The ring scene is one of the most powerful I've seen in film. Only wept a few times in my life as hard as that. I don't know why so many people didn't like the finale, but I didn't feel that way one iota. It was very beautiful.
The show ended when I was 39 years old. In those thirty-nine years, I followed many different shows. FALCON CREST, NEWHART, THE HONEYMOONERS, V, original BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY to name a few. None of those match the power, the emotion, and the closure of the final episode of Ronald D. Moore's BATTLESTAR GALACTICA gave me. There will never be another show like this with a cast this amazing! EVER! So say we all!
They cut a lot of stuff. Laura's blind date flashback and Starbuck's telling Athena "Can we not tell her the plan" before opening up on Boomer. Yes, no Tyrol at the end! WTH!
This was a wonderful ending. It tied the first series with the remake. "Some belive that life here...began out there..." Just a fantastic ending (finally) that I have been waiting for for thirty years. A true work of art.
Great tribute to a great show. I just started watching it again for the 3rd time over the past year. It still has resonance to this day, and will for years to come. All Of This Has Happened Before And Will Happen Again. Thank you for sharing. So say we all.

BSG was the best Sci-Fi show ever to me but this music just makes me hear "Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon Stations there would never be another. It changed the future and it changed us. It taught us that we have to care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And the true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope, that there can always be new beginnings. Even for people like us."
I actually stayed away from it because I never liked the original. I didn't want to waste my time on something I already didn't like. Then... one rainy summer day when the vide store was still open way back in 2007, I rented the pilot. The rest is history...
Dear AAG, thank you for making such a touching video. I have watched it several times and it pulls at the heart each and every time. I never saw an episode of Babylon5 but this piece by C. Franke is perfect for this BSG tribute. Very sweet and very sad.
I just...love this show, it's a pity that it's over, but I've enjoyed every single minute, and the ending is just EPIC! we will miss it... yeah... so say we all.
This was done on purpose as a message to everyone that the Ancient Aliens are us, and that's the settlers just didn't teach the children's - children that they came from the stars, so it was lost in the translation...can you imagine how far back that was, before pyramids maybe not long after the dinosaurs but that's another theory for another day.
Actually, if you think about it, and if you know the real story behind "Mitochondrial Eve", what they were trying to say happened was that *every* Colonial and Human Cylon *died* very soon after they arrived on "Earth", with only Hera leaving any descendants who survived to mix with "native" Earth humans... That would fulfill the prophecy from the early Hybrid in "BSG:Razor" that Kara Thrace would lead the Human race to its end...
it's just too bad that everybody ended up dying out quickly after they reached Earth. the fact that it took a hundred fifty thousand years for modern New York to exist tells us that this is exactly what happened to them.
And their religion survived as their gods were the greek pantheon. Obviously they had a massive impact on the early human cultures. After all the ancient greek culture was one of the most sophisticated and influenced the roman civilisation as well as our modern world. If you want to put it this way...
You're thinking too small. Hera was simply the only cylon human hybrid. No one ever said the rest all died. They clearly said their DNA was a very close match to the inhabitants of the planet so why would you see any trace of their DNA in modern humans? In addition, just because they're saying Hera was "Mitochondrial Eve" simply means her remains are the oldest the scientists had found. Of course the humans survived and interbred with the locals. You wouldnt see them in the DNA record because their DNA was nearly indistinguishable from the planet's inhabitants. Only Hera's DNA was different. And of course going back 150,000 years would mean everyone on the planet would be descended from her. Hell, going back that far would mean you could take the DNA from any of them and be able to conclude everyone is descended from that person too.
Great piece, and the music was excellent. BSG was an epic series. I just finished watching the entire series over again on DVD, and find myself noticing new things every time I see it. One of the few series I've ever seen that ended as well as it started. I'm sad it's gone (Caprica just isn't as good), but I'm so glad it ended when and how it did. "What do hear Starbuck?" "Nothing but the rain, sir." "Grab your gun, and bring in the cat."
Gnaaaaah, now I'm crying because of your vid! Not only the ending of BSG was heartbreaking, your video is too. The only thing I was missing was hearing Adama say "You should see the light that we get here, when the sun comes from behind those mountains. It's almost heavenly. It reminds me of you." at 1:25 - 1:30. Then your video would have been even more perfect. ;) Anyway, it's awesome as it is. Thank you so much for making and sharing it!
I really loved BSG and the end battle was great but i felt that the ending made little sense. Because they land on a new planet they do not know what is safe to eat there is no shelter there is no food production and for all they know they could be 1 month from winter with only the clothes on there back no food no power and no shelter and possably hostile primative humans. So yeah lets send all our ships into the sun rather than use them for shelter / warmth / safety / food and medical
They didn't even give themselves a chance to survive." - And they didn't. That was the point behind the story Angel-Six and Angel-Baltar were reading at the end... only Hera lived long enough to have any children who became the ancestors of every human alive today... Every other bloodline from the Colonials and Human Cylons died out very soon after they arrived...
That's not what they said. Just like in reality the fact that we all have a common ancestor doesn't mean that there at some point was just one bloodline that survived. It just means that the bloodline of that one ancestor mixed with every other bloodline.
"The Galactica was the last of the Battlestars. There would never be another. It changed the future. And it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future, or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for one another because, if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly though, I think it gave us hope that there can always be new beginning, even for people like us." (Inspired by the Babylon 5 finale)

Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing finale, but that was the one flaw I saw in it and even then, it was minor and I rolled with it. I cannot wait for Caprica. If you haven't yet, I would suggest listening to the Caprcia DVD commentary, RDM briefly talks about his plan to explore the burgeoning war between the Colonies (mainly Caprica vs. Tauron) AND wants to eventually do a spinoff that tracks young Husker fighting in the First Cylon War aboard Galactica. I am so jazzed for that!
When they sent the Galactica into the sun, did u notice that they played the theme music from the original Battlestar from the 70s. This was an excellent remake. Still miss Richard Hatch. Wish he could have fulfilled his dreams about the show.

I loved the fact that the music to the series finale of Babylon 5 was used for this. The series' had no small number of things in common with each other. Ex. : The dying leader = Both Sheridan & Roslin. Destruction / demolition of the B5 station - The Colonial Fleet ships flying into the Sun. If I'm putting out " Spoilers " here, it'll only be considered " Spoilers " to formerly Amish people or to Orthodox hermits living on Mt. Athos. ;)
Kara Thrace was an Angel with a "more limited mission" unlike Baltar and Six. She was sent by God to lead the way to Earth. This "kind" of ties in with the Crystal Ship from the original BSG. One question I ALWAYS have is why BBC America always cuts the Galen part when everyone is leaving to their new location.... are they thet afraid of Ireland being the place he goes to?

@garyda1 you say that as if they were living in the lap of luxury while fleeing for their lives in space. Many had no quarters to call their own. Many starved having limited or no access to food, healthcare, or even the most basic of necessities. Kara Thrace had to put up the last tube of Tauron toothpaste as an incentive for her raptor pilots to keep going on successful missions! Unlike New Caprica, there was no foreseeable reason to keep ships on land because there was no threat of a cylon in
@starwarsfan117 Oh my gods... I just finished the last episode. I was in tears for the second half of it. I knew it would end, but it felt so real. You know a show is good when you cry with the characters. You feel their pain. You feel their loss. And you feel the challenge ahead of them.

@navystrengh its called "Blood and Chrome" and its going to take place during the 1st cylon war but its going to be comparable to "the hurt locker" as there aiming for a nitty gritty war movie
excellent editing. It's a great ending how they link the colonial survivors landing in Africa to our ancestors who originated in Africa. this ties in with the original show's premise that "life here, began out there".
The stirring tale of humans who came thousands of light years across the galaxy to give up their technology and die in the first winter without real shelter or any significant medical capabilities.
Ummm... Yeah I was talking about the notion in the context of the show's plot. Not much beyond that. The plot was about the exile and rebirth of humanity. I'm not saying it would happen in R/L, and I don't think the producers of a science fiction show are saying that either.
Interesting theory but not part of the canon, I'm afraid. Humans were humans, cylons were cylons, and the resultant pairing of the two races formed what we are today according to the show's fictional history: hybrids of both. I believe the detector did work, but Gaius manipulated results to suit his needs. Even if it didn't, there were other ways to detect cylon biology, as shown when the ruined Cylon Earth was discovered and they tested the skeletal remains.
I did a 6 month hike in Alaska... no plumbing, no electricity, even had to hunt and fish for food aside from the basic rations. Best 6 months of my life. In any case, most city folk have no idea what it's like living that life - the idea of making foundries for smelting and manufacturing gunpowder, machine shops, -- how? Do you understand what it takes just to prospect for ore and the chemicals it takes to leech and refine it?
Let's hope so.... I really hate it that the series has ended and can't believe that Kara is gone just like that. I hope there is a nice nice spinn off that can take away this shitty feeling I have when I watched the last episode
@TonyEvans96 i know what ya mean, this show did not cause me to fall into tears but it damn near did only things that have done that are really good anime's, and the soundtrack from platoon the soundtrack of platoon causes me to lament over the billions of human deaths in history

And they say battlestar galactica is the best show while using the b5 music on a bs clip, when clearly they havent watch b5
MANLY TEARS
Let's hope so.... I really hate it that the series has ended and can't believe that Kara is gone just like that. I hope there is a nice nice spinn off that can take away this shitty feeling I have when I watched the last episode
Awesome!!!!
Sleeping in light...…. Wonderfull Music
すばらしい!これから、見る最終編と見比べてみます。
And Earth Will Become Our New Home.
@TonyEvans96 i know what ya mean, this show did not cause me to fall into tears but it damn near did
only things that have done that are really good anime's, and the soundtrack from platoon
the soundtrack of platoon causes me to lament over the billions of human deaths in history
