My friend cast Plow Under against me. I read it and scoffed, didn't think much of it- until I physically went and put two of my lands on top of my deck. It was at that moment I realized I was just set back two turns, and I was also forced to redraw cards I had already played. That one play gave me such a deeper understanding of resource denial and card advantage that I hadn't fully known at that point.

So many moments come to mind, I don't think I could pick just one. But I'll always remember my first witness of an infinite combo: spliced Desperate Ritual onto Lava Spike copied with Izzet Guildmage. This interaction forced me to read the comprehensive rules for the first time. Thank you, Jason. I'll always remember you. 😢

The biggest level up for me, and it's kinda silly actually because it's such a basic thing but still, when I figured out how the stack works. Speaking of stack, I only understood how stacked damage works when they got rid of it 😂. Another big thing, that's what actually changed the world for me, and I learned it playing another game (chess actually), was when I figured out card advantage.

Only after few years into playing the game, mostly commander and mostly casually, did I learn that you can’t just cast instants whenever you want and you have to respond to something
