3:57 north end of Skaha Lake (Penticton) 4:11 outskirts of Summerland 4:30 south end of Peachland (near Deep Creek) 4:33 "downtown" Peachland (United Church on Fourth Street at 4:36)
Is 4:30 Antlers Beach Park when there were homes there? 4:32 is 4th Street at Beach Ave in Peachland 6:10 is the Kelowna DOT scales at H97 and Cary Road.
at 3:57, love this view of Skaha lake beach at the South end of Penticton. The highway has been rerouted, roughly running through the grass field lower center. This section of old highway is still there, but not used - probably will be built over soon.
Thank you Mark, great to get more details to these reels, your insight is noted and appreciated. Plenty more fascinating episodes this fall/winter. Hopefully, we'll grow our membership. Enjoy.
At around the 10 min mark it shows the totem poles in the Kispiox village which are still standing today as well as the fishing in the Kispiox river where the Kispiox joins the Skeena river.
Great clip, brings back a lot of memories from my first trip through the Okanagan in '61 or '62. This trip may have been filmed in 1957 and not in 1956. In addition to one of the two pickups belonging to the traveling companions being a '57 model, I also noticed a couple of other 1957 models in the segment taken near Peachland. Always great videos. Thanks for documenting them and posting them here and on Castanet
Entirely possible this was 1957, working with clues available, the reel is edge code dated 1956, however the photographer may have been sitting on this roll for a year. Agreed with the vehicles, another colleague made the same observation. Likely late summer or fall 1957. Thank you.

I forgot about the scales. I miss the old valley :(
