I have an interest in the Rhaetian or proto-Rhaetian peoples and early peoples of Tyrol area such as Otzi, who spoke a pre-Indo-European language, and wonder of a connection to the Terramare of the Po River and/or the Neolithic Farmers, the early farmers and any cultures they developed are my principal interest.

I found two Vinca figurines last year while fieldwalking in my area. One is a Y-shaped abstract anamorphic form, considered an amulet, it probably hung by a string in a house. The second is a much more realistic female figure made of blackened clay with her hands on her hips. Both are now at the local museum. I work with archaeologists here to make 3D reconstructions of cultural sites and objects and we're planning on reconstructing a Vinca village in the near future.

why? serbians werent a thing until 9th century AD. Vinca have nothing to do with todays serbians. They could be related to greeks and albanians though that have been in the balkans for thousands of years.

Hello Dan! Greetings from Sibiu (Romania)! Tărtăria-Gura Luncii, Alba county ( the infamous incised clay tablets, with symbols, were discovered here in 1961-the autumn campaign, by prof. Nicolae Vlassa-long story...), is indeed a complex prehistoric archaeological site (in recent studies there were identified elements of fortifications-ditches and palisade postholes-Luca 2016, „Tărtăria Rediviva”). Now, I'm studying for a master's degree at „Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (Department of History and Heritage Studies). The main subject of my Bachelor Thesis was about lithic industry (polished/ground and knapped stone tools) from Tărtăria. In 2021 and 2022 (summer campaigns), I have taken part in archaeological excavations here and I can assure all of you that, Vinča female clay figurines, are very THICC ;)!!! I'm pleased to see, that there is interest for the complex Neo-Eneolithic cultures in this part of Europe! Your high-quality documentaries contributed a lot to my passion for prehistory, so keep up the good work.

I'm wondering why are you calling these clay tablets ‘infamous.’ Did you simply misspoke, meaning ‘famous‘, or is there a story behind them, like their being a forgery or something along these lines? But Dan would have certainly mentioned if their authenticity were questioned... Just in case, ‘infamy’ is a bad kind of fame, when someone or something is well-known but for something bad. We can say ‘Famous violin player’ but 'infamous mass murderer’. English is weirdly inconsistent at times: for instance ‘inflammable’ and ‘flammable‘ mean the same thing, a quality of being easy to ignite, and the opposite is ‘non-flammable’. :)

@@phil2u48 - That was definitely my other thought. Only the matching numbers/groups of them made me wonder whether a game of some sort. Being hand-made, there may not have been a reason to have such matching groups if they were meant to be toys. Unless they were traded away to others in such groups, perhaps. Hmm.
The idea that they may have been game pieces is an intriguing one. Ancient people were no less intelligent than modern people and there's no reason they couldn't have developed a game like chess or backgammon. Because they were farmers, they needed some way to pass the time during the winter and a sophisticated game would have been just the ticket. Alas, we'll probably never know for certain what the figurines were used for.
I read a paper about the figures, thag speculates it was for strategising. Because the figures were really quickly and shoddily made in comparison to their level of technology, that they needed to lay down some strats in urgency :)

The Vinca culture is a group I have been fascinated with for a long time - in fact, it was learning about them which got me very interested in European pre-history, which lead to an interest in Indo-European studies. In one of my stories, I wrote a sorceress who was born in the Vinca culture, but survived to present day - she provides a good excuse to learn more about this fascinating people.

The fact that many of the Vinca inscriptions are similar to those found in Linear A of Crete should be taken into account before dismissing the possibility of representing writing. It's also worth noting that other writing forms, like cuneiform, started as pictograms for trade items as well.

The funny thing is the eastern european scientists talked about this culture since 50 years but in the west everybody said this is just fake, no culture in the east europe or the balkans.
Because Americans and Western Europeans don't even want to acknowledge our existence. All cultural conversations avoid the region like a plague. Even African cultures get more recognition these days. "South and Eastern Europe are just places where wars take place" is the common sentiment unfortunately.

I’m a total geek for early metallurgy, so when I see the clay disc with markings, my first thought is, of course, a metallurgical recipe. If humans ever developed a time machine, I’d want to use it to go back and observe this period of humanity. For me, the several thousand years of pre-pottery Neolithic and chalcolithic is the sweet spot. (5000+ years is an unfortunately big sweet spot!)

This Sunday, I visited the National Historic Museum in Sofia, and I saw very similar artifacts from 6000+ BC but probably from another culture because they were found along the coast of the Black Sea (near Durankulak, Dobrich province). It was fascinating. There was gold jewelry too, probably some of the oldest ever. Visiting this museum is a must if you're in the area of Sofia.

The Calendar is a document that shows the year when people in the past reached the level of civilization and was able to write a calendar. Writing a calendar requires a high level of civilization of science and culture. The Serbian calendar is the oldest cultural, scientific and historical monument of the Serbian people, which is based on the immateriality of nature. Serbs have in addition to the existing substantive criteria introduced into their calendar the term of intangible criteria of time. Intangible Number Three It is known that the Serbs as a sign of recognition are raising three fingers. Serbs toast three times, kisses three times, they are baptizing with three fingers, etc. The Serbian nation is the only nation in the world today that has the symbol of three fingers. To understand these folk traditions that are passed from generation to generation, we should turn to the sun. The latest electromagnetic surveys have shown that the cosmic rule of number three is applied for the sun. When at the visible side of the sun occurs the volcano, the volcano always occurs three times, and the direction of magnetic fields on the sun changes after three rotations of the sun; every stroke of the solar wind with greater density causes rocking of the magnetic cross in the northern hemisphere three times, etc. In simple words, everything that happens on the sun and cosmic space, it happens three times. In other words, with the material astronomical standards an accurate calendar cannot be made. Time for Serbs is a measure of immateriality of nature and not related to space and movement. Simply there is no connection between time and physical world, or space, so that the concept of the relativity of time is just fiction of the human being obtained with the help of mathematical combinatorics. Every nation has its own symbol of time. At the Egyptians and the majority of the people of the European civilization space, the symbol of time was the solar or the lunar cycle. All these nations believe in the cyclicality of time based on astronomical standards, or circle as a symbol for time. However, the two nations who did not have a circle as a symbol of time are the Serbian and the Jewish people. At the Jews the symbol of time was a skewed straight line which is directed towards the sky. At the Serbs it is a sloping arc with two cross-sections, which is also directed towards the sky. A straight line and hair arc with two cross-sections of both nations have the same meaning. This is the Galactic arc on which the sun moves during one calendar year, around the center of the Galaxy. The sun needs 220 million years to make one circle, and from the galactic formation of the Milky Way until now, the sun has made 20 laps. Seven millennia of Serbian Calendar The oldest written records show that the Serbs started to count the time from 5508 BC. The Serbian calendar was until the 19th century, the official calendar of the Serbian state and the Serbian Orthodox Church. All administrative acts of the Serbian state were dated after the Serbian calendar. Based on the old records we learn that the Serbs had a calendar, where the calendar year began in April and it was divided into two seasons, summer and winter where winter begins on the Day of Saint Mitar or in early November. The year was divided into 13 months (herbal calendar) which approximately was the number of rotations of the sun during a calendar year. After receiving Christianity and influenced by the economic environment, the Serbs created a calendar of 12 months. However, in the 12th century the Saint Sava took the names of the month from the Roman calendar and brought them into the Serbian calendar (Rule of Law), which can be considered as a spiritual contribution to the Saint Sava communion of all Christians. Serbian people still respect the decision of the Saint Sava. The oldest original document, which is dated by the Serbian calendar, is the Karyes Typikon of Saint Sava. The youngest document found in 2010 was the Cross of Vujan of the Patriarch Pavle in the monastery Vujan of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Both documents are dated by the symbol for the time that is unique in the calendar world, which comes from the Vinca culture. The Serbian Orthodox Church has a large number of churches and monasteries that were Serbian universities: Hilandar, The Patriarchate of Peć, Dečani, Studenica, Žiča, Gračanica, Sopoćani, Virgo, Milečeva, Ravanica, Ljubostinja, Ćelije, Tronoša, Ostrog, Cetinje Monastery, Vujan, Hopovo , Krušedol, Vraćevšnica, Manasija, Djurdjevi Stupovi, Lepavina, Krka, Krupa, Dragović, Banjska, Piva, Savina, Soko, Gornjak, Vitovnica, Radovašnica, Tavna, Moštanica, Dobrun and others. When we compare the protocol used in computer data processing and protocol at Serbian calendar we see that the protocols are the same. In both protocols, first has been written the year, then the month and at the end the day. Thus we come to the magnificent scientific knowledge that modern computer data processing is performed under the protocol of the Serbian calendar. Geopotential Geopotential is the atmospheric pressure at a certain height or the area on which the pressure is 10 milliards. When atmospheric pressure has been measured (geopotential) at 10 milliards we can see that it changes depending on the energy coming from the sun. If the atmospheric pressure of 10 milliards is measured at the poles we see that the height of ten milliards surface has been changed. When through the magnetic door penetrate protons, the height of ten milliards surface will be reduced, but when the electrons penetrate, the height of ten milliards surface increases. Ermagerd a new video!¡! Also, I wonder if those clay figurines could've been kids' toys? Something like modern-day toy soldiers. Maybe even made by the child.
Actually I should have included this in the video but there are figurines that were obviously made at least partly by children. There's a couple of little toy cows still with fingerprints in. They can tell that adults or older children made most of the clay figure and then a child finished off the shape by pinching the clay together. So it seems clear that some figures were children's toys. They also made tiny versions of household objects in clay - little tables, tiny pots and bowls. They look like toy kitchens!

That's what I thought too. There were probably an abundance of those made to entertain kids. Many had little holes in them. I am enchanted by that group of presumably warrior statue. In the simple bell shape you can see how human hands have rolled and squeezed the clay. It's a bit like the hand shadows outlined with ochre, but now I can dicern pressure, movement and more precision
The first 10 seconds of the video are not exactly as you say, sir, about migrations from M. East, because the new researchees of HAPLO GROUPS of the domicial people in Serbia and former Yugoslavia today, (I2a, R1b), are the same with HAPLO GROUPS of arheolohical human bones samples from the period of Vincha, Starchevo. It means that there was not any big migration from M. East to a Balkans. If we take a look also, at the HAPLO GROUPS maps of M. East, or Greece, the answer is more clear. Im from a town in Bosnia called Zvornik, an area which seems to have been part of this cultural space. Zvornik lays at the place where the river Drina leaves its karst gorge and enters its alluvial plane. In the gorges above Zvornik is a well known ancient mine town of Srebrenica. Nothing is by accident, there is a reason why this settlement came to existence at that particular place.

Sanskrit language , ancient Hindu north Indian language has a lot of similarities with all Slavic languages as well as Latvian and others. The latest major book on the subject is A Mistery of Danube Civilization , by Harrald Harrmann , diving deep in to all the findings , linguistic comparison and establishing that Vinca alphabet and script are the oldest ever found and its been used to decipher even writing on The Etruscan stone monument. General public knows nothing about this and opposition with various interests in the scientific circles and political influence , is strong and rich . They don't want to rock their boat and having to give PHD's away , defending the orthodox version of "take it or leave it " history approach.

Greek alphabet is a spinoff of Serb / Vinča alphabet. Greeks are a mixture of natives (Serbs), North Africans and Levantines. Ancient Greek writes like Plato make it quite clear that they are not the native. Plato himself says they have taken the native language and twisted it to such a measure that they don’t even know what the words mean / how they came to be / their etymology. He uses “Zogon” (a cart that is pulled by two oxen), as an example and says he has no idea what the etymology is. Serbs still use that word today. It’s called “Dvogon”. Dvo (two) gon (verb: “goniti”, meaning to chase; to push; move away). Egyptians that came to Europe (that mixed in and became ancient Greeks) brought their papyrus technology with them and wrote down all of our epic poetry and traditions etc....that are sung along the “Gusle” instrument.
That is fascinating. 8000 years ago. I can't help but ask myself how the climate looked like back then. It is said the sahara was green 15.000 - 10.000 years ago, probably around the time the pyramids were built. It would be so awesome to know how societies co-existed back then, far, far apart from eachother. We nowadays still live among hunter gatherer tribes, and these societies always make me think there's much more to these ancient eras than we have found. It makes me feel so... small and insignificant :) It leaves me in awe. Also, I don't agree with claims that something is "one of the first", I like to think of it more as "the oldest we have found.... for now"

I had not heard of the Vinc^a culture! Interesting they were Mediterranean originally. And such large settlement. Unusual so early. There is so much we don't know from these early periods like grabbing smoke! But historians & archeologists have done an amazing job recreating these people & their lifestyle.

Lepenski Vir was initially a Mesolithic Hunter Gatherer site. Although they did begin mixing with Neolithic farmers, Vinca is not a continuation of it.

I found two Vinca figurines last year while fieldwalking in my area. One is a Y-shaped abstract anamorphic form, considered an amulet, it probably hung by a string in a house. The second is a much more realistic female figure made of blackened clay with her hands on her hips. Both are now at the local museum. I work with archaeologists here to make 3D reconstructions of cultural sites and objects and we're planning on reconstructing a Vinca village in the near future.

Hello Dan! Greetings from Sibiu (Romania)! Tărtăria-Gura Luncii, Alba county ( the infamous incised clay tablets, with symbols, were discovered here in 1961-the autumn campaign, by prof. Nicolae Vlassa-long story...), is indeed a complex prehistoric archaeological site (in recent studies there were identified elements of fortifications-ditches and palisade postholes-Luca 2016, „Tărtăria Rediviva”). Now, I'm studying for a master's degree at „Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (Department of History and Heritage Studies). The main subject of my Bachelor Thesis was about lithic industry (polished/ground and knapped stone tools) from Tărtăria. In 2021 and 2022 (summer campaigns), I have taken part in archaeological excavations here and I can assure all of you that, Vinča female clay figurines, are very THICC ;)!!!

I'm wondering why are you calling these clay tablets ‘infamous.’ Did you simply misspoke, meaning ‘famous‘, or is there a story behind them, like their being a forgery or something along these lines? But Dan would have certainly mentioned if their authenticity were questioned... Just in case, ‘infamy’ is a bad kind of fame, when someone or something is well-known but for something bad. We can say ‘Famous violin player’ but 'infamous mass murderer’.
English is weirdly inconsistent at times: for instance ‘inflammable’ and ‘flammable‘ mean the same thing, a quality of being easy to ignite, and the opposite is ‘non-flammable’. :)

The idea that they may have been game pieces is an intriguing one. Ancient people were no less intelligent than modern people and there's no reason they couldn't have developed a game like chess or backgammon. Because they were farmers, they needed some way to pass the time during the winter and a sophisticated game would have been just the ticket. Alas, we'll probably never know for certain what the figurines were used for.
I read a paper about the figures, thag speculates it was for strategising. Because the figures were really quickly and shoddily made in comparison to their level of technology, that they needed to lay down some strats in urgency :)

The Vinca culture is a group I have been fascinated with for a long time - in fact, it was learning about them which got me very interested in European pre-history, which lead to an interest in Indo-European studies. In one of my stories, I wrote a sorceress who was born in the Vinca culture, but survived to present day - she provides a good excuse to learn more about this fascinating people.

The fact that many of the Vinca inscriptions are similar to those found in Linear A of Crete should be taken into account before dismissing the possibility of representing writing. It's also worth noting that other writing forms, like cuneiform, started as pictograms for trade items as well.

The funny thing is the eastern european scientists talked about this culture since 50 years but in the west everybody said this is just fake, no culture in the east europe or the balkans.
Because Americans and Western Europeans don't even want to acknowledge our existence. All cultural conversations avoid the region like a plague. Even African cultures get more recognition these days. "South and Eastern Europe are just places where wars take place" is the common sentiment unfortunately.

I’m a total geek for early metallurgy, so when I see the clay disc with markings, my first thought is, of course, a metallurgical recipe.
If humans ever developed a time machine, I’d want to use it to go back and observe this period of humanity. For me, the several thousand years of pre-pottery Neolithic and chalcolithic is the sweet spot. (5000+ years is an unfortunately big sweet spot!)

Very nice biopic of a people who seem to have thrived for a significant period of time. One can imagine people raising their families in these communities for thousands of years. Generations of grandparents parents and children come and gone.
Yeah thats crazy, and just like that they are erased from existence and history almost. They were living in a present times just like us today, with all their strugles pretty much irrelevant now. Thousands years from now same fate might happen to us, none of the current nations and nationalities and ethnicities won't exist in the future. Everything we do now will be erased in some future

Vinchan alphabet has al letters from Etruscan language, but even more and predates etruscan culture, it's confirmed by Profesor Radivoj Peshich published in Italy, and accepted by scientific comunity.
To me when I saw those Etruscan figurines they looked Egyptian.

This Sunday, I visited the National Historic Museum in Sofia, and I saw very similar artifacts from 6000+ BC but probably from another culture because they were found along the coast of the Black Sea (near Durankulak, Dobrich province). It was fascinating. There was gold jewelry too, probably some of the oldest ever. Visiting this museum is a must if you're in the area of Sofia.

Thats because Serbs use to live there too. The Calendar is a document that shows the year when people in the past reached the level of civilization and was able to write a calendar. Writing a calendar requires a high level of civilization of science and culture. The Serbian calendar is the oldest cultural, scientific and historical monument of the Serbian people, which is based on the immateriality of nature. Serbs have in addition to the existing substantive criteria introduced into their calendar the term of intangible criteria of time.
Intangible Number Three
It is known that the Serbs as a sign of recognition are raising three fingers. Serbs toast three times, kisses three times, they are baptizing with three fingers, etc. The Serbian nation is the only nation in the world today that has the symbol of three fingers. To understand these folk traditions that are passed from generation to generation, we should turn to the sun. The latest electromagnetic surveys have shown that the cosmic rule of number three is applied for the sun.
When at the visible side of the sun occurs the volcano, the volcano always occurs three times, and the direction of magnetic fields on the sun changes after three rotations of the sun; every stroke of the solar wind with greater density causes rocking of the magnetic cross in the northern hemisphere three times, etc. In simple words, everything that happens on the sun and cosmic space, it happens three times. Serbs were aware of the existence of immaterial cosmic rule number three, so they took the number three to be their national symbol.
Three fingers are a symbol of nature immateriality and spirituality of the Serbian people, and part of its cultural heritage. This is the spirituality of a nation who can understand and explain the immaterial nature.
This leads to the conclusion that the Serbs, in addition to the existing substantive criteria, introduced into their calendar the term of intangible criteria of time.
Time among the Serbs was built into the immaterial nature, so that material criteria cannot be the criteria of time. In other words, with the material astronomical standards an accurate calendar cannot be made.
Time for Serbs is a measure of immateriality of nature and not related to space and movement. Simply there is no connection between time and physical world, or space, so that the concept of the relativity of time is just fiction of the human being obtained with the help of mathematical combinatorics.
Every nation has its own symbol of time. At the Egyptians and the majority of the people of the European civilization space, the symbol of time was the solar or the lunar cycle. All these nations believe in the cyclicality of time based on astronomical standards, or circle as a symbol for time.
However, the two nations who did not have a circle as a symbol of time are the Serbian and the Jewish people. At the Jews the symbol of time was a skewed straight line which is directed towards the sky. At the Serbs it is a sloping arc with two cross-sections, which is also directed towards the sky.
A straight line and hair arc with two cross-sections of both nations have the same meaning. This is the Galactic arc on which the sun moves during one calendar year, around the center of the Galaxy. The sun needs 220 million years to make one circle, and from the galactic formation of the Milky Way until now, the sun has made 20 laps.
Seven millennia of Serbian Calendar
The oldest written records show that the Serbs started to count the time from 5508 BC. The Serbian calendar was until the 19th century, the official calendar of the Serbian state and the Serbian Orthodox Church. All administrative acts of the Serbian state were dated after the Serbian calendar.
Based on the old records we learn that the Serbs had a calendar, where the calendar year began in April and it was divided into two seasons, summer and winter where winter begins on the Day of Saint Mitar or in early November. The year was divided into 13 months (herbal calendar) which approximately was the number of rotations of the sun during a calendar year. After receiving Christianity and influenced by the economic environment, the Serbs created a calendar of 12 months.
However, in the 12th century the Saint Sava took the names of the month from the Roman calendar and brought them into the Serbian calendar (Rule of Law), which can be considered as a spiritual contribution to the Saint Sava communion of all Christians. Serbian people still respect the decision of the Saint Sava.
The oldest original document, which is dated by the Serbian calendar, is the Karyes Typikon of Saint Sava. The youngest document found in 2010 was the Cross of Vujan of the Patriarch Pavle in the monastery Vujan of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Both documents are dated by the symbol for the time that is unique in the calendar world, which comes from the Vinca culture.
The Serbian Orthodox Church has a large number of churches and monasteries that were Serbian universities: Hilandar, The Patriarchate of Peć, Dečani, Studenica, Žiča, Gračanica, Sopoćani, Virgo, Milečeva, Ravanica, Ljubostinja, Ćelije, Tronoša, Ostrog, Cetinje Monastery, Vujan, Hopovo , Krušedol, Vraćevšnica, Manasija, Djurdjevi Stupovi, Lepavina, Krka, Krupa, Dragović, Banjska, Piva, Savina, Soko, Gornjak, Vitovnica, Radovašnica, Tavna, Moštanica, Dobrun and others.
Serbian churches and Serbian universities gave the highest level of literary and artistic education. Literacy and artistic treatment of Serbian manuscripts and government documents have been created for thousands of years.
When we compare the protocol used in computer data processing and protocol at Serbian calendar we see that the protocols are the same. In both protocols, first has been written the year, then the month and at the end the day. Thus we come to the magnificent scientific knowledge that modern computer data processing is performed under the protocol of the Serbian calendar.
Geopotential
Geopotential is the atmospheric pressure at a certain height or the area on which the pressure is 10 milliards. When atmospheric pressure has been measured (geopotential) at 10 milliards we can see that it changes depending on the energy coming from the sun.
If the atmospheric pressure of 10 milliards is measured at the poles we see that the height of ten milliards surface has been changed. When through the magnetic door penetrate protons, the height of ten milliards surface will be reduced, but when the electrons penetrate, the height of ten milliards surface increases.
In the summer, the dominant energy is electronic, and in winter, protonic. When the surfaces of ten milliards on the northern and southern hemispheres equalize, then they show equal energy on the northern and southern hemispheres.

Also, I wonder if those clay figurines could've been kids' toys? Something like modern-day toy soldiers. Maybe even made by the child.
Actually I should have included this in the video but there are figurines that were obviously made at least partly by children. There's a couple of little toy cows still with fingerprints in. They can tell that adults or older children made most of the clay figure and then a child finished off the shape by pinching the clay together. So it seems clear that some figures were children's toys.
They also made tiny versions of household objects in clay - little tables, tiny pots and bowls. They look like toy kitchens!

That's what I thought too. There were probably an abundance of those made to entertain kids. Many had little holes in them. Fascinating video on a culture I knew nothing about. Interesting interpretation of the mace being a symbol of authority, from the buwava of a hetman or ataman to the mace in the House of Commons in the UK.
I am enchanted by that group of presumably warrior statue. In the simple bell shape you can see how human hands have rolled and squeezed the clay. It's a bit like the hand shadows outlined with ochre, but now I can dicern pressure, movement and more precision

East, because the new researchees of HAPLO GROUPS of the domicial people in Serbia and former Yugoslavia today, (I2a, R1b), are the same with HAPLO GROUPS of arheolohical human bones samples from the period of Vincha, Starchevo. It means that there was not any big migration from M. East to a Balkans. If we take a look also, at the HAPLO GROUPS maps of M. East, or Greece, the answer is more clear. Im from a town in Bosnia called Zvornik, an area which seems to have been part of this cultural space. Zvornik lays at the place where the river Drina leaves its karst gorge and enters its alluvial plane. In the gorges above Zvornik is a well known ancient mine town of Srebrenica. Nothing is by accident, there is a reason why this settlement came to existence at that particular place.

They used no fences or defense barriers ,because they new no war. When the invaders from the east who had houses , weapons with stone points and were predominantly man with the YDNA haplogroup R1b , dominant in Western Europe today. Local Vinca and other populations were no match to the invaders. Male population was decreased 7 folds and some escaped to the south east going all the way to India , Persia . Sanskrit language , ancient Hindu north Indian language has a lot of similarities with all Slavic languages as well as Latvian and others. The latest major book on the subject is A Mistery of Danube Civilization , by Harrald Harrmann , diving deep in to all the findings , linguistic comparison and establishing that Vinca alphabet and script are the oldest ever found and its been used to decipher even writing on The Etruscan stone monument. General public knows nothing about this and opposition with various interests in the scientific circles and political influence , is strong and rich . They don't want to rock their boat and having to give PHD's away , defending the orthodox version of "take it or leave it " history approach.

The notion that early metalworkers might have exercised (or been constrained by) ritual power brings to mind what I’ve been told of the etymology of the name Cain-among other possible meanings, it referred to the forge. The forge gave the power to kill one’s brother, but God forbids anyone from taking the life (by placing a visible mark?) of the one who works the forge. At 18:45, The first thing I thought of was "1000pt Warhammer Army". If cube dice were discovered in the vicinity of the figures, we'd know for sure. heh. But I'd not be surprised if they were figures for a wargame or actual tools for representing troops in war planning or as part of storytelling like puppets.

There needs to be an examination of the emergence of agricultural societies, and their impact on the early herding societies. It is no secret both have been at odds with each other, and a study of how they may have come to their initial agreements.

Serbs are the oldest nation of Europe, the first alphabet - the oldest calendar in the world - 7533. year. Serbia had access to 3 seas, now it has no access to the sea.
From Serbia and the Serbs, somewhat of a country and a nation emerged - now they are the biggest enemies of the Serbs.
@@milicgordana7935 Ummm, second oldest alphabet. The Cyrillic alphabet borrowed many letters from the Greeks. The letter "F" for example.
Greek alphabet is a spinoff of Serb / Vinča alphabet.
Greeks are a mixture of natives (Serbs), North Africans and Levantines.
Ancient Greek writes like Plato make it quite clear that they are not the native. Plato himself says they have taken the native language and twisted it to such a measure that they don’t even know what the words mean / how they came to be / their etymology.
He uses “Zogon” (a cart that is pulled by two oxen), as an example and says he has no idea what the etymology is.
Serbs still use that word today. It’s called “Dvogon”.
Dvo (two) gon (verb: “goniti”, meaning to chase; to push; move away).
Egyptians that came to Europe (that mixed in and became ancient Greeks) brought their papyrus technology with them and wrote down all of our epic poetry and traditions etc....that are sung along the “Gusle” instrument.

That is fascinating. 8000 years ago. I can't help but ask myself how the climate looked like back then. It is said the sahara was green 15.000 - 10.000 years ago, probably around the time the pyramids were built. It would be so awesome to know how societies co-existed back then, far, far apart from eachother. We nowadays still live among hunter gatherer tribes, and these societies always make me think there's much more to these ancient eras than we have found. It makes me feel so... small and insignificant :) It leaves me in awe. Also, I don't agree with claims that something is "one of the first", I like to think of it more as "the oldest we have found.... for now"

I had not heard of the Vinc^a culture! Interesting they were Mediterranean originally. And such large settlement. Unusual so early. There is so much we don't know from these early periods like grabbing smoke! But historians & archeologists have done an amazing job recreating these people & their lifestyle.

Yes Serbian people still write and use those letters. It was Vinca letters now we call it cirilica
Ђ is not a Slavic letter it is hallmark of Serbian letters

All Serbian roots of words dating back to ancient times and still used today.

@@bluebird3281 A copper axe or mace would cost at least its weight in copper pieces, plus extra for labor and incidentals (charcoal for forge, maintenance of tools, etc.). Assuming D&D 5e system, a mace would be minimum 200 copper.

Some of those figurines strikingly remind me of the head of a mantis, maybe they took inspiration from that insect as it is known to live in those latitudes
