Every other type of practice us clueless to the benefits of chiropractic and shoe inserts/orthotics, surgery or pain pills are about all that's left.

Oh man, you don't need to be a doctor to tell why he's having so many issues once he showed the feet x-rays. He really needs to rebuild those arches or his back will never go into correct alignment.
You are very right. Personally I love a combination of Podiatry and Chiropractic when it comes to feet and back pain.
In this case, a Podiatrist will work on the arches through orthotic devices while a Chiropractor takes care of the spine and surrounding structures.
