You have done so well in one year from picking up Steve's tunnel and putting it on your plot. And all the improvements on your plot. Such a good job Steve would be giving you a big pat on your back.
Hi Jb, hope you are both well. Just a thought for your bath (I appreciate this would be alot of work) find a permanent home, e.g between the greenhouses and make a frame around it so you don't hurt yourselves on those sharpe edges. Then pop the shed door on as a hinged lid when you take the shed down. You can store bags of compost in there to stop them getting wet, mix up compost mixes and recharge old compost in there. Also get a plug and can use it as a water trough for bottom watering. You could even frame around the base and clad around the bath to make additional storage for tools, pots, fleece etc. All looking great!
For the last few years I have put a layer of chunky composted bark at the bottom of my potato containers. Then a thin layer of bagged manure. Then budget compost for the rest. Even without the manure I've found the addition of composted bark makes the compost really nice for next year's growing as it continues to break down over the growing season and winter. Composted bark is also generally cheaper than compost so it makes an excellent filler plus it soaks up water well meaning the bottom of the containers don't dry out as fast. Worms seem to love the compost the bark creates too which helps break down the compost above it. I kind of see it as composting and growing at the same time.
I spent yesterday also elbows deep breaking up chunks in homebase compost. Its a great base for the price, but needs a little extra attention. But for 3 quid a bag atm, I cant complain too much
angle grinder, sander, 20 mins with a decent file, could take the edges off that bath, hope you watered the tomatatoes XD and had a great time at the BBQ
Comfrey will survive. You need just a little bit of root to grow it on. Next time you move a big plant, cut it short. Its hard to get the top enough water when there roots disturbed . Its easier for plants to make new roots without losing energy to so much leaf and stalk.
Always good to remind us of Steve's legacy, I often still rewatch his videos for tips. I search the month and there is a wealth of advice. I would say that Im done with Silvagrow though. I tried it this year for the first time and just finished the three bags I bought after your video on their manufacturing plant . But I would not buy it again. Terrible growth and Ive ended up enriching it with blood and bones everytime Ive potted on with it. Today was the last straw when I had great big stringy bits in the last bag. Its really poor for a supposed premium compost.
JB, are you aware that a mouse has disconnected skull plates and can squeeze through a gap any larger than a ✏️ pencil? Oh and they are brilliant climbers. You may want to consider several layers of mesh.
That Robin is Steve keeping an eye on you and your achievements 😉. There is a saying that Robin's represent the people who have passed staying close to us and keeping an eye 👁 on us ❤
@@JBNatI came here to say the same thing. Cut off the foliage, chop the root into 1” pieces, lay them flat in a shallow “trench”, water well, and stand back. Mine took 2 days to send out shoots.
Looks like you are as resistant to put on gloves as I am! 😅 It’s just no fun gardening with gloves on even if I prevent injury and keep my hands clean.
You know the saying: "Potato tomato" 😉Will you make like whole doors for the tunnel? Because it feels like if you make only half height, couldn't animals just climb it and get in? 🤔
I know that you like to stay positive, but I must say Homebase's compost is awful. It's full of plastic and shards of glass. I refuse to buy it any more. I'd rather spend the extra on something better and not risk an injury.
Hi JB, lovely video update & hope you had a lovely barbecue too. Thanks for sharing and take care
We did thank you!

Hard to believe that Steve died a year ago. He left a great legacy in his videos and sound advice in Planting Green side up.

I love that you talk about Steve … I miss him! 🌺
Re the bath tub
- take an angle grinder to it, take those sharpe cornets off then sand the edges smooth 😁
What a fab idea of the chicken wire JB! I may have to adopt this idea! Thank you😊 I raised a glass to the legendary Steve…. Still miss him❤

For supports in a polytunnel, I have run lateral wires in my mums and support using hop twine which works really well
You could turn the tray in the little cold frame around so the taller stuff is at the back where it's higher 🌿
Electrical tape around the edges of the bath will dull down the sharpness 👍
With your bath tub put electricians tape on its edges as a buffer so you do not get cut. Not very green but you are upcycling the bath 🤩

Save me a plate JB.😁 always much love from Indian River County Fl 🌶

Hahahaha yes from having them in our house I know all too well! I don't have too many hopes of fully keeping them out, feels like a fools errand!
@@JBNat 😂
Use some of you compost bags to put the compost in to move it
Super Good video JB Tour te Greenhouse moostiun thans te video Top 👍✔️🌦️🌱🥔🌰🥦☘️
I want a bath tub!
It is so handy! I love the idea of putting it up high with a table next door to it at some point for mega potting sessions hahaha
Sadly, I'm addicted to tables. I have seven... In a small space...

Try taping the edges of the bathtub JB.
🐝Thanks for the great video🌻 rubbedubdub some compost in the tubbb
Comfrey can be regrown dead easy with an inch of root! Just needs to be in a safe corner which will not be needed ever. 😂
That's brilliant to know!! Thanks Chris

Agreed. It’ll be just fine.

You got to dig in the dirt don’t you 😀

Hahaha potato/tomato. Will send you a pic as I built them today. Had to leave a gap in the top so I can easily remove them. Will hopefully be okay!
@@JBNat Looking good! Fingers crossed it will be enough 🤞
I want a hot composter
Have you ever tried making your own? Some good how-to's on RUclips!
Sand the sharp edges of your bath tub.
Hadn't thought of that 🤔
@@JBNat Sometimes the most obvious things are not that obvious.
I'd ducttape the tub, or pool noodles?
I was thinking pool noodles as well or the insulating tubing for pipes (lagging?).
You could cover the rim of the bathtub with duct tape .

Why don't you cover the edge of the bath with duct tape 😍😍
I should do!! That might help, it might also just slice right through it but worth a go
