Egg shells will not release their calsium in the soil for years, so they won’t help these leeks. There are ways to treat the egg shells to get them release the nutriens faster though.

Been doing that nearly the same for 25 years. Always get a few the size of my wrist, tough to pull, use a long chisel to cut the roots.

Wow, that's impressive! Thanks for sharing your experience. Using a long chisel sounds like a handy technique for those tough roots. Happy gardening, and here's to many more years of successful leek growing! 🌱😊

Can you not use the leeks that break off during harvesting?

Yes, you can still use leeks that break off during harvesting. Using the Broken Leek: If the leek has broken above the root and can't be replanted, you can still use the edible part in cooking. Leeks are hardy and even slightly damaged ones can be used in soups, stews, and other dishes.

Hey, thank you so much for the kind words and support! 🙏 It really means a lot to me. I wanted to be honest with you and everyone who's been following my journey. As much as I love gardening, documenting every step from seed to harvest and editing videos is super time-consuming. Lately, I've been finding it difficult to balance everything, which has made it harder to keep up with regular uploads.
That said, I haven’t given up on the channel completely! I just need some time to figure out how I can manage it better. I’ll definitely be back when the timing feels right, but for now, I’m taking it slow. I appreciate your patience and continued support! 🌱
