Been catching some of your shorts on facebook lately. Really nice to find long form stuff. I especially love that horizontal vibrato thing you do. Gonna subscribe and see if you got any lessons on that

Never been much of a hybrid picker but i had a similar kind of a breakthrough recently by realizing things about consistency and precision in picking. I realized that my fretting hand inconsistency resulted in what felt exactly like it would be a picking problem, but it was actually a trap xD The more perfect time and consistency i've developed with my left hand the more my picking issues have started to just dissolve. The idea i had was that fretting hand inconsistency directly leads to more friction for the picking hand because of how the strings change elevation as frets are pushed down, so in order to get through the string you have to pick harder and so you introduce tension and it creates all these other problems.. Working on this has already made a huge difference for me in basically all aspects of my playing and i still have work to do.. Shout out to Tom Quayle for helping me realize this! A video where he talked about the mechanics of the fretting hand, how the muscles function effectively etc. Sorry for the long comment lol your video just got me thinking about this stuff hahah :D

Very cool - so left hand precision solved what you perceived as right hand problems? Awesome!

@@KristoferDahl Yeah man! It sounds very weird but when i practice picking now i try to only focus on the left hand.

Zakk Wylde would disagree. He pics every note and doesn't give a s***. Except when hes chicken picking. But he doesn't do that in his speed playing.

It think Zakk would def be able to identify this breakthrough 😎
