I remember seeing Barry Sanders play when I was a kid and it made me love football but then the next year he retired and I was sad. Now that I'm older and I know how the NFL takes a toll on the body he was probably right to retire.
The so-called CAPTAIN of a team is called .. "The Quarterback". This person says what the team will do during the game. The COACH tells him from the sidelines through an earpiece what play to do next, but the Quarterback can ignore that if he wants.

I played against Sanders in high school. Don't have any specific memories, I was more interested in the cheerleaders at the time.
