- Join me back at Gtechniq to see the magic results of ceramic coating on my Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition! Having been left for a full detailing, preparation and application of Crystal Serum Ultra, the before and after comparison is really quite fascinating...
Ceramic coating can be professionally applied directly to paintwork, or even over a car with Paint Protection Film -such as my Ford GT or McLaren Senna that are being worked on by Topaz - and the results are really quite intriguing. The main benefits are an increase in the ease with which you can clean the car due to how simply anything will run off it as you'll see in the beading comparison test, and as a result the reduction in swirl marks that traditionally come from cleaning. Although it won't fully protect from a stone chip as PPF would, it gives an incredible finish visually and in feel on the surfaces. As mentioned, ceramic coating can actually be applied over the top of PPF as well to maximise the protection for the car and Topaz are an authorised installer for Gtechniq's products.
In addition, the car has had a complete runover at the Gtechniq Works training centre, including interior surfaces prepped to prevent absorbing of liquids, the plastic parts rejuvenated, and also the wheels too. The end result is a car that will stay cleaner, look brighter, and last in great shape much longer.

The results are magic! Gtechniq have applied Crystal Serum Ultra to my Focus RS Heritage Edition and you've got to see how it works. It makes sense not to PPF a car like this. I'm not sure, maybe Tim can elaborate on this, but I would assume PPF on a McLaren Senna easily retails for 5 tot 10k pounds. This is a great way to protect a nice paintjob like this, without spending an absolute fortune. And the nerd in me really likes these video's. Watching the GT getting PPF and Nabil talking about the process is like ASMR :P

Same here. Car cleaning nerd in me is amazed every time when they do the magic. Of course there is downside of this as well. Other people watch me as lunatic if I dry car by lifting water off instead of rubbing and smearing with ultra thick cloth. They never seen such methods before 😂😂😂

@@allensaunders449 Consider how labour-intensive it actually is. Now the McLaren Senna is an extreme example, but 225 pieces of PPF are going on it.

This car does look great, the only issue I have with it is that the stiching on the seats should be in orange thread instead of blue thread.

Shmee... I admire your love for all different types of cars. You enjoy normal cars like the focus, a car most of us normal people could afford all the way to a Ford GT and a Uber expencive McLaren Senna. I admire that in you. You are not a supercar snob.
FYI, the cars that Shmee has are rare or an expensive version of the original car so I would rethink when you said focus (as in the normal stock one) and saying normal cars when he doesn't own any other cars lower than the Focus red edition.

I've had the C5 Wheel Armour on my wheels for a few months now and works a treat. My wifes car supposedly has OptiCoat Pro Plus, hasn't lasted a year.

I had my new TTS G-Techniq'd throughout. It is so easy to keep clean it's insane. I hardly have to touch the car after snow-foaming.
detail looks amazing and worth protecting, but was the ceramic coating applied to the headlights as well?
He forgot one crucial step and almost everyone does that : After polishing you need to steamclean the paint to remove the oil residues that are left in the paint. As you polish the paint gets hot and absorbs these oils into its pores. To get these oils out you need to heat the paint again with hot steam. After that you can wipe and start applying your coating. This coating is rather basic as it's air drying. The better ones are infrared cured.
For my M2 I chose a Modesta Glass Coating, which is in fact liquid glass that infrared cured into the paint. For the wheels and brake calibers and hubs we used a variant that can withstand up to 1300 ° C.

Poor car will be parked forever and barely driven. That is the fate of some of these cars that they spend so much money to keep looking good.
The great thing about the coating is that you bust the jet washer out of the cupboard, give your car a quick blast and your car is near perfect. Everything just drops off.

InfiniteLoop no as it’s hardness is 10H and it is bonded to the surface. For reference clear coat is 3-5H maybe

PH Neutral only products. Otherwise it will ruin the coating :)

I have that on my windscreen and have for years. Isopropanol based solution, 70mph and no windscreen wipers in all weather 👍👍

Nice to see how it’s done. I had my car coated with Crystal Serum and Exo V4 and it really works. I’ve had it on the car for 5 months and it still looks great after a wash. Of course the big test is if it still looks the same after a couple of years. Time will tell.

Is the coating sensitive to car cleaning products? I.e Tar remover? Does this product require a PH neutral shampoo to be used to keep the coating on the vehicle?
Yes. You have to wash your car with neutral ph products. If you dont it might get wiped off

Normally 3 or 5 years depending on how many layers and type of product.

The crystal serum light is sold as a 5yr coating. The crystal serum ultra is sold a 9yr coating. The durability is outstanding

@@FlyingStuff I don't see how that thing can last 5 or 9 years. It will last 5 years only because these fancy cars stay in the garage for most of their lives. In 5years, that car will never have 50,000 miles. It may have 20,000 miles if it is lucky. These people with such fancy cars never drive them. So, it is not washed often. All that is done to clean it is fast detailer using same materials that adds to the coating to protect it some more. That is how it lasts that 5 years.
Apart from that it never last no 5 years of it was put on a Toyota Camry that sees like 25,000 miles every year with tons of washing. It gets washed off with time. Never lasts no 5 years on a car that is driven often and washed many times a year and driven under different weather conditions.

I think i prefer PPF, it prevents scratches mostly that come from road pebbles as opposed to ceramic
A ceramic coating wont protect your car from scratches as a ppf does, its for the looks. You can ppf your car and ceramic coat it after and you will have both positive sides
Ppf is $5K+ while ceramic coating is $1-$2k. The best of both worlds is to ppf the full frontal area and ceramic coat everything.
How much did it cost?
Firstly, the Heritage Edition looks mega. Do you add cermanic coat on top of PPF on your supercars?
