whole album is jaw dropping start to finish honestly
This track has already become my personal favorite off the new album. The entire album is perfection, but this one really hits a different way. \m/
I love how exotic this song sounds. Beautiful sound architecture in the intro between the drums and guitar.
I love it of how they used Latin words as song titles.
Actually this song title also has a meaning in spanish: "Supposed descendant of the original lineage of the Indo-Europeans, considered by some to be purer and superior than those of other peoples, with an obscure skin"

It has become my favorite song on the album. Such a perfect blend of all of the styles Norma has tapped into over the years.

This seems to be about how it takes more than just throwing words together to construct a great song, at least that's the heart of the lyrics here. That being said, I feel on a larger scale there are more layers to this track, in that I think the broader meaning is in a world where there's so much cancel culture and everyone's looking for us all to think the same & feel the same about on issues, sometimes beings one's self and not caring is the way to be right, because it's way more authentic and it comes from the heart that way, and is therefore slated way more in truth.
After listening to the whole album a couple times, the lyrics seem to center around that. Being true to yourself and trying to block out the outside noise of cancel culture, manipulation, character assassination and just poisonous rhetoric. Considering bands like Everytime I Die, Fit For For King and many others in the scene attacked the singer for a meme he posted on Instagram a couple years ago and tried to cancel/blacklist Norma Jean. I think he had a lot to say about that on this record. Not specifically the cancel attempt, but life in general. Toxic energy all around and trying to navigate through it. That's just my opinion.
This actually sounds like his response to the attempt to cancel him because of that stupid Twitter incident.
But who knows. Cory likes leaving it up to the listener.
@@ericchin739 I think this song deals about his beliefs (Cory is an Christian) and he is saying, that if someone beliefs into something, he needs to stick with it even through the worst. And taking the best from it and looking at things from different perspective.
I don't think it's necessarily about that. It's more about not really caring about other things on the outside and needing validation. Saying I'm right when I just don't care and not letting things get to you. He had alot of issues with depression and mental health so alot is tied to it.
