Lord. Have. Freaking. Mercy. This is exactly what everyone needs to hear. It has become so frustrating explaining to people that this is not about taking away your rights as an American citizen. This is about lowering the risk of infecting other people and even yourself. We could be out of this first wave by now if The United States had unified and said "We're going to look out for each other by distancing ourselves and covering up." But no, the virus was politicized and people became more worried about going to the beach or going to the bar again that they said: "nevermind, coronavirus over." THANKS DONALD.
If people want to be reckless with their health it indirectly becomes our problem. Sick people and those not working/underemployed are a drain on GDP. There's the economic impact of getting sick. Most Americans don't like being told what to do, even if they don't know what to do.
Same in Argentina. Let me tell you, we were doing SO GOOD with quarantine and social distancing. In three months we had like 300 deaths only... Anyways, people got tired of quarantine, they started to go out, to party, and doing all the wrong things because of _"freedom"_ (and they call the Constitution for it), so, in less than a month we have over 100.000 infected people, and the number is growing faster and faster... And all because of those who didn't care.... If it wasn't for them we would be in another fase, but we went back to fase 1... People are still breaking the rules, and the numbers are still raising...
GPlumbob Actually Vitamin D has mechanisms that’s can reduce the risk of infection by inducing cathelicidins and defensins. They can lower viral replication. So vitamin D supplementation is a good thing. However, much of it is inconclusive.

Hopefully people see this. I witnessed a lady with a stroller run out into traffic to avoid passing me on the sidewalk. That seems a little more dangerous than covid to me.
@M H that's ozone, O3. It's not supposed to be used where people are, it's for closed spaces like cars or a closed restaurant. I'm not sure if it's dangerous for our lungs but some quick research can find that out for you.
As a matter of basic decency, you should still keep your distance. You don't know what someone else's situation is. And you certainly should be the one to yield to a woman with a stroller. Do you also push old ladies out of the way to get a seat on the bus?
@Rainbow Hyphen she probably moved out of the way for her baby. You can't tell a baby to hold it's breath for a few seconds. We can say she should have kept the baby at home, but we don't know her situation. Back when people were panick buying, I remember a mom having a hard time keeping her toddler from putting everything in the cart in his mouth. She was trying to keep her two other kids to behave at the same time. Just saying babies don't know any better.
Just see it positively because you never know if she was an essential workers/ first line responders at her workplace so unless she sees any symptoms on her in 3 days of after infected then she can not prove it if she is contracted or not unless she gets a test every single her working day. This is exactly why we shouldn't open restaurants yet! It was probably the air conditioning system on the Diamond Princess that got all of those people sick as well.
Literally had a customer yesterday that couldn’t stop coughing and wasn’t wearing a mask. He wasn’t even coughing in his elbow.. I was wearing a mask so I hope I didn’t catch anything
There are reports that suggest between 30 - 80% of infected people are asymptomatic so don't know they are contagious. A very good reason why everyone should wear a mask when around others especially in buildings away from home. I'm in customer service, I reckon less than 3% of visitors wear masks, even those in the "at risk/vulnerable" groups. Surprisingly, some of these people take the opportunity to use our hand gel.
I’m SUPER passive but if I’m in this situation I hope I have the courage to politely ask them to cough into their elbow. Was at a store a few weeks back and a lady wasn’t wearing a mask and worker told her to put one on. I told her thanks for saying something bc sometimes it’s awkward telling ppl what to do.

I have been reading the studies on COVID-19 since this January. I am not a virologist though. I am just a PhD in applied economics. What this video explained completely aligns completely with my understanding about the virus. Thank you very much for the animation and illustration. Everyone, please wear a mask and keep social distance. Actually, I wear a pair of gloves too. All these PPE will make us comfortable but safe. Keep praying!
When it comes to wearing gloves, you still have to be careful about what you are touching (it's a barrier, not a disinfectant, so touching your gloves to your face is just as bad as not wearing gloves and doing the same thing), and it's also important to try to remove them without touching the outer surface over the hands (there's plenty of illustrations and videos online demonstrating how best to remove gloves). I've seen so many people who fail to understand this, and do things like licking a gloved finger to separate some dollar bills.
I’ve been interested in viruses and diseases for as long as I can remember, so it’s REALLY cool to see somebody in the field! Do you have any cool, niche facts about that stuff you think is good to share? I’m all ears! And yeah, stay safe! Cheers!
Exactly.👏🏻👍🏻 But the essential prerequisite is to have a population base literate enough to understand basic hygiene and disease spread. Then they'll properly wear and use masks and every other precaution when outdoors. Unfortunately, I'm from India...😞
My doctor told me ventilation was very important so keep your window open. I do. I leave it open and have a van. Didnt turn on ac in here yet. I think it has helped as well as resuming walks. She said natural ventilation..well yeah I'm guessing recirculated air bad.
It's still an enclosed space; a more breathable one, perhaps, but most tents do not allow good social distance. I know you're probably kidding, but, just sayin'...
I use a sleeping porch all that I can, even in winter. I sleep better. That is an old time thing popularized when TB was killing a lot of people. Actually TB is destroyed by sunlight. Meanwhile, air flowing through a screened porch dilutes any illnesses from sick family members.
It´s clear this video has a tendency against lock down, how ever people is always inside places, such as; subways, buses, offices, restaurants, gyms, inside crowds of people, and in most cities people do not behave, So if you live in a small town you will be safer, if you live in a big city the risk would be high.

My afternoon walks have helped me stay healthy both physically and emotionally. I wear a mask, but when there is no one around, I pull it down a little to breathe more comfortably. I also make a point of keeping more like 10-12 feet away from others. I am very careful to only touch the mask on the outside edges. From multiple sources, and as a retired RN, I am comfortable with this.
Good, esp. the greater than 6' distance. Wear eye protection, too. If you touch any part of the mask, apply hand sanitizer. When you remove it, either discard it, wash it or don't wear it again for 5 days(?)
I think this is the turning point. back when I was in high school reading dystopian stories, there was one where everyone lived indoors and it was a crime to go outside. Even as a homebody, I wondered what would even convince people to stay in, in the first place. This situation makes it more believable now.
When I'm out, I apply the first rule of gun safety: assume the weapon is loaded. In the case of this virus, assume everyone you come into contact with is infected and that the virus is on every surface.
Because they need to make a living they can’t just live off their parents or their big bank account, not everyone can live a life as easy how you describe.

Well done, thank you. It graphically and visually summarizes pretty much what my own research indicates - in a way the most people can understand. It's neither fear mongering, nor irrationally rebellious - just judicious in describing the scale of risk.
Depends on the humidity. If the air is the dry, the virus will stay suspended in the air longer; if it's humid, the virus condenses with the moisture and falls to the ground quicker.

I always thought the heating, air-conditioning and ventilation systems were part of the problem. We see people in some of our major cities living in high-rise apartments, the ventilation system circulating air between all of the apartments and if somebody in apartment 203 has a virus, it will migrate throughout the building. We also see this in assisted living facilities where people are locked down and the HVAC spreads the. Virus like wildfire, same as in a cruise ship. It was very likely a mistake to have everybody locked down.
In my apartment I have the sliding door open about a foot to let air out when I have the AC or heating on. Our family rarely gets sick. And growing up we did not have an AC or heater. We opened windows and used fans and/or our fireplace instead. I rarely got sick as a child.
Violeta Garcia I believe the building maintenance and superintendents have a protocol in which they change the air filters periodically. However, with this new virus I think they need to do a little more. Perhaps change the filters more often, use a better type filter. According to all that you known this virus like others cannot survive in sunlight and warm weather. I also think it’s important for people to be out in the sun and replenish their supply of vitamin D. Stay healthy stay strong.
What was the realistic alternative? The US acted way too late and didn't have isolation centers for people to go to. Any infected person would've eventually returned to the apartment for the night anyway. At least it wouldn't have been as bad as spending at least an entire night in the apartment AND also mingling with even more people at work and in restaurants or sports stadiums or public transit each day.
I could strongly smell perfume from about 20 meters while jogging outside and downwind on a breezy day. Don't know if that means anything here, but thought I'd mention that.

No of course, but it's about minimising risk isn't it. If you can work from home/stagger working hours in offices and workplaces/use masks on public transport/etc., then all these things reduce the risk of being in populated spaces. It's not a binary risk versus safety dichotomy, that's the point the video's making; we've got to be pragmatic and use our awareness of how the particular risk factors work and how the virus actually propagates so we can end the pandemic.
Very true and not talked about enough . It’s real easy to say just stay home for a month when your able to do your job out of the house but not everyone has this situation .
As many people as possible should, however, that's due to a politician's decision. For all the money in bailouts, they could have easily sent more stimulus to the people.

Lord. Have. Freaking. Mercy. This is exactly what everyone needs to hear. It has become so frustrating explaining to people that this is not about taking away your rights as an American citizen. This is about lowering the risk of infecting other people and even yourself. We could be out of this first wave by now if The United States had unified and said "We're going to look out for each other by distancing ourselves and covering up." But no, the virus was politicized and people became more worried about going to the beach or going to the bar again that they said: "nevermind, coronavirus over."
THANKS DONALD.
If people want to be reckless with their health it indirectly becomes our problem. Sick people and those not working/underemployed are a drain on GDP. There's the economic impact of getting sick. Most Americans don't like being told what to do, even if they don't know what to do.
U mean orange hitler
Same in Argentina. Let me tell you, we were doing SO GOOD with quarantine and social distancing. In three months we had like 300 deaths only... Anyways, people got tired of quarantine, they started to go out, to party, and doing all the wrong things because of _"freedom"_ (and they call the Constitution for it), so, in less than a month we have over 100.000 infected people, and the number is growing faster and faster... And all because of those who didn't care.... If it wasn't for them we would be in another fase, but we went back to fase 1... People are still breaking the rules, and the numbers are still raising...
And now they’re already opening schools 🤦🏻♀️

LIZZIE SANGI Sangi That sounds good to me, but have you noticed how Americans feel about wearing masks? It’s a big issue for some reason.
You didn’t move into the street for a lady with a stroller? Think about how stressed she was. Was it really that hard for you to do?
For this reason she might trying to do social distancing to save you and others by making distancing.

Masks only help to protect others. It doesn’t protect yourself. So... rip 💀
Dont worry Nadia you had to be in contact with that person for some minutes and im sure you have a shield in front of you so its all good.

@TL C I wear gloves when I go outside like for 2 hours and throw up the gloves when I'm back at home

In Wuhan at the height of the epidemic they shut their heating units down in the infected high-rises (even though it was winter).
Violeta Garcia fans are essentially doing what the ac does tho because it’s just blowing air but i get your point

Or earlier, if you talk to health care professionals in certain areas. Things they noticed were odd, like a bunch of pneumonia deaths in jan and feb, more than normal, and/or alot of people coming in and having flu or strep symptoms, but testing negative one after another.
It's been way earlier since late 2019
windsongshf people had this last year it’s not new at all. And they knew
canis latrans that happens to me all the time . my strept comes up negative . i go do my stuff and then the next day they call me and tell me i’m positive
I think vox is doing amazing work to spread the awareness during this time of pandemic. Your videos are very informative. Thank you for the good work. Number of people you saved by sharing this information... you should get Noble peace prize
This is a great video, but I don't like vox when it's about politics. Left leaning.
Not everyone can afford to stay at home for this long period of time.
Unless you live in Scandinavia
Very true and not talked about enough . It’s real easy to say just stay home for a month when your able to do your job out of the house but not everyone has this situation .
As many people as possible should, however, that's due to a politician's decision. For all the money in bailouts, they could have easily sent more stimulus to the people.
@@soadj28 Bro we indians, didn't got a single penny as stimulus from our govt and we been locked down since past 6 months. They declared an economy package with full of scams of around 265 BILLION dollars out of which not a single citizen got benifit of single penny.
Here people and ruling party politicians are busy in spreading communal hatered and oppressing minorities (muslims, Christians, Buddhist, etc) and covid situation is worst.
Bruh I’ve been isolating myself for 3 years hahaha
KyroseFN I’m going on 8 years since I became a single father. I’ve been working from home for the last 6 years.
21 Years, till my family has to drag me out for gatherings, holidays ect.. Side effect of a medical induced coma for two weeks.

I already caught a cold two different times when a sick person coughed in my direction while passing me on the street. I wouldn't underestimate how contagious it is.
