IRS is a holy grail for a Chartered Accountant.

It follows the normal guidelines mentioned in the UPSC circular for all the Civil services postS. IPS have slightly altered requirements when it comes to physical prerequisites due to the nature of their job, but no such things in IRS.

Will it be difficult for a non accountancy background student to learn accountancy and other things when we get selected for IRS
Not at all. People from various backgrounds such as humanities, engineering, etc join IRS. That's the whole purpose of the rigorous training regime in Nagpur. Simply be attentive and open towards learning. There is no need for a natural aptitude in maths or physics like in being an astrophysicist or a scientist. It literally is not rocket science.
@@Ishan716 what if I am weak in maths and scored only 60 percent in 10 th. After that I took hummanties. Will it be difficult to learn😅

With continuous hands-on application of the IT Act and usage of accountancy tools which will get engraved within you as the time passes, you wouldn't need to worry about a thing. Assessing cases and passing judgement over Income related concepts do not require the same conceptual grasp over mathematics as coding or engineering subjects do.

@@twxxe4388 Judicial powers in terms of determining the sources of income and tax collection. Yes, the I.T Act is more or less the Bible of an I.R.S (I.T).

Obviously. Humanities people actually fend off better with the Civil services exams due to their course structure being in accordance with the syllabus.

@@swapnalishapradhan1391 1. It’s synonymous to asking whether a North Indian would find it challenging to work in a South Indian state in the IAS owing to the language barrier. Of course there is always a brief period of a learning curve, be it with respect to learning a new language, or accounting and commerce related skills, but it’s nothing to fret about and won’t be an issue at all.
2. No examinations are held for promotions, it’s time bound.

She got IRS in upsc cse 2016 but in upsc cse 2017 she got AIR 12 and became IAS
Its about ones choice and interest. Many toppers who are in top 100 gave his/her first choice as IRS.

isn't it misuse of taxpayer's money? ghum rahein hain, treking kar rahe hain, games and sports seekh rahein hain! : MEDALS kitne laaye?
What an illiterate fuck. Misuse of the taxpayer's money is blatantly done by the angootha-chaap ministers, hoarding crores of rupees and engaging in illicit dealings, not these well educated officers. Trekking, sports, etc, along with debates and elocution is a necessity to shape the personality of an officer as a whole. It's not a desk-job like an I.T or banking job. Fitness, personality and public speaking is a necessity. It's a high-pressure job which requires regular mind and body stimulation. Training doesn't simply cater to the bookish information, but also towards being a civil servant as a whole.
