Hello, thank you for video. I studied shotokai back in the 90's, it has always stayed with me. I have moved away from where I used to train. Unfortunately, no one is teaching anymore. May I ask what where all the kata's please. I was told there were 26 in total. I have recently started training again in wado ryu and am enjoying returning to karate. I am lucky I had/have a very strong base with which to train on.
You are lucky because Wado Ryu is less stiff than Shotokan. I had my first dan in Wado Ryu before moving to Shotokai. I never counted all the Katas because I practice also a lot of Chinese combinations, but it is true that there are a lot of Shotokan katas that are not practiced in Shotokai. Nevertheless, when you have a high enough level, it is quite easy to "translate" Shotokan into Shotokai. To finish, it is very interesting to work on the traditional original katas of Okinawa. @@theblindsamurai3653 yes, any rank that exeeeds the highest rank of 5th dan, is by definition a joke. Did you get a badge and stripes on your belt too, good for you.
decisamente è uno stile basato sull'efiicacità e non solo sull'estetica, e l'esibilizione. Questa è l'essenza dello Shotokai, non è praticato per lo sport, ma per saper lottare. A parte questo molte persone lo trovano esteticamente molto piacevole, più dello Shotokan, ma questi sono gusti estetici :)

Sono posizioni di allenamento, in molti stili di kung fu, sono parecchio più basse. Anche nella pesistica si inizia ad allenare lo squat profondo.
