That's ridiculous, there's absolutely no guarantee that the first note of a song is the root note of the key. Maybe the first chord in the chorus? Maybe even the last note would be more reliable? But NEVER guaranteed. If you're a producer you should have at least the basic musical skill to play keys on a piano or frets of a guitar to figure out the key of a song. If not, learn that first before you worry about autotuning vocals in a song production.
