I have done the same with my home and car, all electric and removed all costs to do with using gas. Simply removing the standing charge saves £120 a year. Sensible use of electricity to charge EV at night when cheapp, charge battery in the winter months at night and you can massively reduce your bills. Before fitting my ASHP last year, the home electric use was 89% from night rate and only 11% paid at day rate. Day rate at 3 to 4 times the night rate again saves a huge amount. ASHP has worked well in our 5 bed 1970's detached house. Even without working cavity insulation, the house was kept warm all day and cost less than buying LPG would have done. Our old broken down cavity insulation was finally removed and refilled in February and initial indications are that it will save me at least 1/3 rd off my electric consumption.
Thank you for sharing, I always enjoy seeing sustainable homes. P.S. I noticed the car's number plate was blurred out (3:29-3:33) which is nice to keep private. However you may want to change the video thumbnail and image from of car (4:30-4:36) as they are not blurred.
@@davidwarnes5158 no, Octopus energy run and invest in wind farms. If you're genuinely interested I'll send you some info. If you believe what you believe regardless of new evidence I won't bother. Do let me know if you want me to make the effort 😊

Love this type of content! People doing what they can to decarbonize, and save money in the process. Keep it up!
I really like these kinds of snapshots into real people's lives and how they have implemented these technologies. Thanks :)

Good point. Thanks. I wish it were easier to upload a revised video with the same links.
How can you say your supplier gives you renewable energy , as its the same cables the rest of us use , as renewable is on a few % of the UK,s supply .
Octopus Renewables has solar and wind farms.
@@CastleKnight7 same cables , that connect to all the other supplies, its not a cable from there wind farms , that they actually buy from .
@@CastleKnight7 no they buy power like a broker
