I've come to think that Alex, who seemed less in the spotlight than Geddy and Neil for all those years, was the true genius - the alchemist, if you will - behind Rush. So great.
Great interview guys. Alex Lifeson is beyond a quintessential musician, he’s one of the most considerate and thoughtful musicians I’ve ever seen interviewed. 👍🏻💥👍🏻
Thanks!
Alex Lifeson ist einfach nur super sympathisch mit viel Humor und btw. ich spiele seine Epiphone - eine geile Gitarre....Rush the best Band ..R.I.P. Neil
After 41 years on the road, I can definitely appreciate Alex's desire to stay home, and only do a few concerts. But as long as he keeps creating new music, he will remain forever young.
I just want to thank Alex for the over four decades of kick ass rock & roll.
One of the true great musician's, and genuine great guy. Love Rush forever and always.
Never get tired of listening to Alex, whether he's playing guitar or shooting the s**t on an interview like this. Such a genuine cat. ♥️🎸♥️
I've been hooked on Rush since the release of Fly By Night and still love them today... Thanks for the new listen Alex....
I love me some Alex Lifeson 🤘grew up listening to Rush and look forward to his new band and the new stuff . Smiles 🙂 from Huntsville Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Alex is so incredibly honest and genuine! Fantastic interview bud!
I loved the interview ! There is just one thing I wish Alex would do, and that's make an all acoustic album of all his work and writing. Stuff like "Hope" is just Epic ! I know he's worked on some acoustic stuff with someone not long ago too. I just can't remember his name at the moment. So I would love to see that side of Alex released as well !
Hope is such a beautiful song! I 100% agree with you!
Alex is da man! 🔥
Thank you to Alex for all the great years
Iconic! The Envy Of None album is really great too.
:)
Love Lerxst!!! Will forever miss Rush and love seeing him and Geddy together. ❤ 💔❤💔❤
W00t Envy of None!!
It’s so nice to hear from female fans of Lifeson and Rush, well done ;)
@@stratcaptain66 We are out here for sure!!
Great interview. I’ll declare a bias of being a lifelong Rush fan of over 40 years, but one of things that always impressed me about Alex Lifeson (and the other guys) was their humility and humanity. Not a word often use, but.... hero.
Great interview Rockman!! Alex, what a nice, authentic, down to earth guy. Thx for that!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really, really nice interview. It's great to see Alex Lifeson is still creating music. I'm glad I found this channel. Great work!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you. I'm new subscriber and thank you again for interviewing one of the best guitar player of rock and music in general history, Alex Lifeson from the almighty gods of RUSH
Rush has been such a massive part of my life. I’m super excited to hear envy of none!
Thank you for doing this interview. LOVE Alex and his music! He's always been my favorite guitar player. His music and playing inspire me everyday!
Huge get excellent❣️Alex is a legend and a Canuck!
So glad to see big Al smiling and musically satisfied.
You must be a new youtube program. Well done. I believe Alex and Rush are respected all over the world, and probably no band ever had their sort of chemistry, along with being the nicest guys in rock. There's no drums in Envy of None? Just did a quick search and it doesn't show a drummer.
Lovely interview. And great to hear about the beer!
i grew up in Qc city. Seeing a Rush show was a tradition.
i remember Alex in the Presto period , with the PRS guitar !
( between a Les Paul & Strat )
That was fun. Alex looks happy and well. I wonder how the physical ailments that he cited as being a large reason for retiring before are doing now.
Montréal CHOM-FM played tons of Rush when I was a teenager. I grew up with it :)
Digging the album! 🤠
I’m a huge fan of Rush and Alex since the mid 70s. My band covered Rush songs when others played Freebird. Yes I own Alex’s s signature Epiphone Les Paul ( way better than entry level, btw). Thanks for the interview!
Good to see Alex back in the saddle
I like cranking 'never said I love you' working in the shop. Looking good Alex.
Right on
First time on your channel and loved it 👌🏻
Welcome aboard!
Alex looked great in that photo
Very Cool!
Not for nothing but it’s a bit overwhelming to see all of the guitars that made the soundtrack of my life hanging behind Al.
Alex lifeson is a legend but I got a question for him ;
Before you move on with another band , shouldn't you do a tribute concert in honor of Neil Peart??
I think after four decades of Rush i think we owe him that respect , don't you think Alex?
I always thought if Geddy and Alex ever did work together again, they should do an acoustic album and call themselves Amble.
Alex is the best
I just discovered this pod. What a great interviewer. What a difference with an Eddie Trunk who seems to talk more than his guest, and who is also loud as you can expect from an American. 😏
Thank you!! We are based out of Québec, Canada.
The headline really should have said "Alex Lifeson of Envy of None" and then in the story said 'he was in some other band before that".
The best compliment you can come up with is, 'I thought he was cool because he was on trailer park boys'???
Lerxst in the house!
Wow @ 9:30 never were in the same room together..
anyone know what Frank Marino has that stopped the tour ?
👏👏👏
thanks!
He must be new I've never heard of him
🤗🎸🎶...💝
Bums me out when people still wont say Neil's last name right.
I'm happy for Alex and his new band but no-one has addressed the 600 pound gorilla in the room. That is that this new music has no classic Alex Lifeson guitar playing on it.
Unassuming / Unpretentious music royalty right here. A normal guy who was blazing trails for over 40 years.
I've tried so hard to enjoy this album, but the vocalist is just soooooo "weak" by comparison to other vocalists. Light and ethereal notes floating around all over the place without any real power or timbre behind her voice. Plus the two songs I've heard are rather bleak and depressing... It's the kind of music that would be playing in the background of a heroin overdose in a movie.
Luckily Rush has a lot of stuff to fall back on, LOL
so you tried to enjoy this album but you have heard only two songs. WOW that makes absolutely no sense
@@jurekavcic4369 sometimes... Thats all it takes
I'd say more ethereal than weak, but to each his or her own.
@@Kgio-2112 as Alex said, this album explores multiple genres and she delivers multiple styles of vocal performances, so if you don't like two songs that doesn't mean that you don't like the hole album since the songs are not all the same.
I loved Portishead, Sneaker Pimps and Garbage. Envy of None is not good. A big disappointment. I tried to get into them and even went back and re-listened after this interview. Singer has a good voice but the songs are boring and production engineering is annoying sounding. What a waste of Alex's talent.
What the hell??? You just talked about Portishead and Sneaker Pimps??? Well done sir!
