- Who wants to get stuck waiting for a train when you can drive the wrong way and beat it? Another week without a train leaves drivers scrambling to get in front of it.. Only in Iron Mountain, MI where they have a "No Train Horn" ordinance in place and NO gates to stop cars.

The reason they say, "That will do," is because it's 3 syllables. If the engineer misses one syllable, he should hear the other two.
During my railroad career, instead of "contact" we would say " that will do" like the engineer didn't know he had just gone Solid. 😅😅😅 LOL

Hey JA: Suggestion. During these slow times without trains, maybe you can get permission to get in the scrap yard and get videos of them shredding metal. If I recall the owners sent you photos of the time they rebuilt the tracks in the yard. Seems they like you. So maybe they'd let you get on their property. That would be cool action video. Just a thought. 👍🇺🇲😁
If someone is killed by a train, the powers that be will say that we know people will do this, so therefore it is the trains fault. Most people don't care about trains anymore, but they don't realize that they are important product transporters.

Timing can be critical but you caught the train switching at Alter and then downtown for a nice run by and you didn't get drenched at the end. While there are numerous no left turn signs when a train is coming through so many are the new LED Style whereas Iron Mountain has probably one of the last best pristine strips with conventional bulbs. Getting a replacement glass lens is probably almost impossible and their cost would be very expensive. About 10 years ago CP removed them from old Milwaukee Main Line along State Street in Wauwatosa WI which also had the corresponding no right turn. Once a week service? I'd be willing to bet LP was told they would have frequent service and has their expansion plan's based around that.

Installed in the 70s when all the signals were upgraded from WRRS #5 wig-wags....
They took all ours down in oshkosh back in the 90's on broad st. when they installed gates.
If it's about you personally, is it really politics? I enjoy your videos I think because the workmen and trains you capture on video are not pristine and perfect. The men have to work with used equipment as do we all in life. I'm from Colorado though my Grandma lived in Ludington so there's a connection.
Ludington is in the lower peninsula. Those who live there are trolls because they live under the bridge. I was a yooper at one time having lived in Iron Mountain.

What are they going to build in the field across the tracks from the scrap yard and are they going to connect to the railroad? I may have missed the video if you mentioned it before.

I miss living in Texas, there were trains to watch along route 87 outside of Victoria. Here in Maine, they tore up the tracks years ago and made trails out of them between Machias and Calais.
The City of Saint John is proposing a round about including a rail crossing.
I saw a couple of those on the east coast of Florida along the FEC.
One of these days there will be a bad accident involve a car and a train
we had an incident in Plymouth WI where a reciently reactivated rail line had a crossing that was just crossbucks that an elderly man cut out in front of a train going 15mph and the train hit his vehicle and severely injured him...just a week ago that crossing was upgraded to LED lights and gates.
Lol, i just cut back a tree downtown that ruins my train videos. My friends were like 'are you supposed to to that?" Lol again.
