- In 1955 Checker Records released a single with two of Diddley's songs, including his rendition of "Bo Diddley" on Side A. The tune was an instant hit, staying on the rhythm and blues charts for 18 weeks. The record is thought to be the first recording to introduce African rhythms into rock-and-roll music. This record is the original 1955 issue with the stunning sound! Enjoy)
My uncle introduced me to 50's music, I was born in1959. I love it to this day, it was the beginning of the music I love.
One of the best things about RUclips is that you come across channels like yours! Im so glad i did! Keep it up : )
Excellent sound from that little portable player!!!
Excellent 😀
Truly an original, he was so talented. Love this song plus outstanding musician 💗
Back in the summer of 1973, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry toured together and we saw them at The Pantages Theater in Hollywood. It was standing room only and we were standing right up against the waist-level high stage so there was nothing between us and Chuck and Bo, but air. They played for a couple of hours and it was a stupendous show. As they were playing, if they noticed that you had a camera (this was back in the 35mm film era when you shot with Kodak Ektachrome ASA 64 and ‘pushed’ it to ASA 400 in order to shoot in low light) then they would actually stop and momentarily pose for you while they kept playing. I took some iconic pics for my brother - who was a huge Chuck Berry fan - which he later had blown up to poster size.
Really outstanding, iconic, innovative musicians!!!
I heard this song when I was 5 years old and my jaw still drops when I hear it. Freakin’ masterpiece. Thanks for the ability to hear it from the contemporaneous 78.
Great! Check out his live performance with the woman playing rhythm guitar. Bo’s dancing, singing and guitar playing. The tremendous audience reaction to his driving beat. Wow!
Rock On 👍
Awesome
I used to go to local drum circles at the park on the weekend. Often the people would sit there bored (and boring) without a clue as to what to play. That's when I'd start to slam out a Bo Diddley beat, and everybody would be jammin and grinnin' before 8 bars went by.
Powerful. And universal...
Recorded in a corridor and sounds brilliant
Production values kiss my ass
Soooooperbbb❤
GREAT tune.
I also love Buddy Holly's cover.
Master Bo Helped to Write the Book On How a Electric Guitar Would Be Used in the Future!
Awesome sound quality from that vintage soviet record player. This recording established the Bo Diddley beat, later copied by countless other artists.
Killer fade out.
This song reminds me of I Want Candy, which I know from The Bishops in 1978 and from Bow Wow Wow in 1983.
Well done and thanks!
Una de las primeras y mejores canciones..
Checker h .f. r' 1955" bo diddley" bo diddley😊😊😊😊
If you don't like this, you don't like Rock and Roll! 👈⬅
I love this!! Was this a hit in the UK charts as well?
No, not in UK. Here in USA it was #1 on the R&B charts. In the UK only Pretty Thing and Hey Good Lookin charted but neither in the top 30.
Thank you
It's the maracas. I always wondered why they weren't more common in rock
.I hear ska roots here.
