Just a side note with all the tanks. Please ask your dad to look under the floor that the tanks are going on. If there is a way to see under the floor. I’d just like to see that there is a strong enough floor to hold all the weight of the tanks. I’ve had to reinforce floors before. Unless it’s directly on top of concrete that is. Hard to tell from the video.

If you have to do this kaity, the simplest and cheapest way to strengthen the floor is breeze blocks under the joists.
(Sheets of slate for fine adjustment)
EDIT. use "DPC" (damp proof course) between the wood and blocks, a roll of it is very cheap. "DPM" (membrane) cost a little more, but you should only need "DPC".

I'm also not seeing any electrical outlets near the area where she wants to place the tanks.

From a glance I do not think the floor is strong enough. might need reinforcements. Was going to say the same thing.

Silky chickens are a good choice. You wont get as many eggs as other breeds and their eggs are small, but they taste amazing. They get broody, so they will set on eggs and hatch them. They are very protective mothers. They are pretty and fun to watch.

This is such a huge step in life, Kaity! Congratulations on your new home! Lantana is on the invasive species lists here and yet it's still sold in nurseries. The big problem with Lantans is the amount of seeds it drops from those little black fruit. You are going to have a blast! Enjoy! ~Ron

I am soooo proud of you! The Lantana that you are about to rip out, we in the states, NY state have to buy and plants every year, we also call in the ham and eggs flower because of the pink with yellow middle flower. Lol😅. Remember that not everything has to be done at once... live with the house for awhile to get the feel of it... nothing worse than spending a bunch of money and then realizing a year later that it isn't what you wanted... like painting real wood cabinets... 😊

So excited for you Kaity, oh to be young again with the energy you will need to upkeep the property, I purchased my 1/2 acre in a small rural town in Western Australia back in '86 what you don't realise is everything you have to do takes much more resources than on a suburban block, instead of 50m of trickle pipe but 100m of 20mm or 25mm pipe and fittings (pressure drop over distances)
Lantana. Electric fence / temp fencing, move it as needed, and shove the goats in (please research requirements for your area)
Move the slow combustion stove onto an inside wall, if it is on an exterior wall you loose heat from it being sucked outside in trying to keep the wall warm, on an inside wall it will not only use the wall as a thermal mass but use the heat created more efficiently.
    (are the ceilings insulated?)
You didn't mention if you were on scheme water or not, if not, put gutters on everything that has a roof, if all you seem to have is 2 x 10,000 gallon tanks for your water IT DEFINITELY WON'T BE ENOUGH if you intend to keep your fish, do reqular water changes and have plenty of water for yourself, and any watering (do you have a bore for water?)
Just because you have those 2 tanks doesn't mean you have enough roof catchment for filling them please look into it.
Maybe you can filter dam water for fish tanks?
I wish you all the energy to match your excitement Kaity
Take your time, observe what happens outside each day and take note of changing conditions
Look at where the sun rises, how shade is cast.
(especially if you want to put solar on)
Where water runs off the driveway and accumulates,
How can you use that water?
Walk your fences and repair them, look up at possible tree branches falling on them,
Fire breaks, when do they have to be in? Can you make them more permanent and use them to move around the property
Soil samples to see what you may need, or possibly of more dams near house?
The sooner you get fruit and nut trees in the sooner they produce produce! * it may not seem necessary to put that towards the top of the list but 3 or 4 years down the track when you wish you had, you still have a few years to wait because you didn't. *
You can never have enough outside taps, or inside power points!
I hope I have given you a few ideas and helpful tips to start this exciting part of your life Kaity
Tony from Rural Western Australia 🇦🇺🦘

As for chickens, I have had many breeds over the years. My favourite is Langshans. The Langshans have feathered feet (so cute) and come in nice colours, like speckled, white, red, black and blue, but are full size hens. They produce great eggs, about 5 a week, are hardy and friendly. Check the local area for a poultry auction, and they should be there. Poultry auctions are great because you can get nice birds, quite cheap. I got my 3 Langshans for $70 and they were all 3 different colours and very healthy. Another of my favourites is the Australorp (black chunky hens) very friendly and great eggs.
Isa browns are extremely friendly and great egg producers, rarely get clucky (broody) however they don’t have long life spans, because they are a man made breed and lay eggs almost every single day. They live 3-5 years and are often rescues from egg farms, as they use them as battery hens. My first were rescues, poor things had their beaks clipped, but they were THE BEST hens I ever owned, they were so smart and so grateful to be rescued. They only lived another two years, after leaving the battery farm, but never have I had such beautiful personalities. Isa browns are boring to look at though. I suggest getting a few rescues and some pure breeds for the glamour 😂
The silkies are cute, but they can’t be with other breeds, as they get pecked to death, being so small, and their eggs are very small too. As cute as they are, I would go for normal size hens, because you will have more options on breeds and colours to keep together, and get proper eggs to eat, give to friends or even sell to the neighbors and locals.
Make sure you research what a broody hen is, and how to rectify it, because that can become an issue at some point. Having a rooster can help prevent it, as you will have hens having babies and going broody for a purpose. If you don’t want a rooster, due to the crowing, but want babies, you can do what I did, and put fertile eggs under a broody hen, and they will hatch! Many people sell fertile eggs online you can collect. Sometimes that’s the only way to get the rarer breeds. But that also means you likely end up with a few roosters, so look for a place that takes them…some places do rescue roosters.
You will need to think about poultry worming and bird lice and mite treatments to have on hand too. They get their bird mites from the wild birds, and they can be a big problem if left to get out of control. Other than that, chickens are fantastic, and if they free range, they will help tremendously with your garden, weeding and fertilising! Just keep them in the coop for a week or two before you let them free range, so they know where to lay their eggs and where to go home to at night. Oh and chickens drink heaps of water, so have multiple sources in the yard that hold lots of water. You can even get chicken swings, or make them yourself!
Make sure you shut the coop at night, or a fox will eventually get them. Also ensure the coop cannot be dug under by a fox, they are masters at getting into coops, and seeing the aftermath is horrifying. Sadly this has happened to me, thinking my coop was fox proof….sadly it was not, and now I can’t bare to get anymore chickens until I am in the country. The suburbs have more foxes than the country because we can’t shoot them and trapping is near impossible. The guilt of what happened to my hens, still has not left me.
Sorry for the mammoth comment, but I was a crazy chicken lady for years, and since I can’t have chickens right now, I became a crazy fish keeper 😂 Can chat about both for days…

I have a big blue water filter to filter and nasties and get my tanks professionally cleaned on a regular basis to get rid of any sediment from the water tanks. I would also suggest getting the floor where your going to put the fish tanks looked at to just double check that they are not going to cause any issues! Make a small landing pad for your drone with some of those big tiles or something Kaity. At 9:24 if the wind blew at your face as the drone takes off you could lose an eye. We don't wanna see you having to wear a pirate eye patch, although those are pretty cool ;)
New place is epic. You could do aquaponics now if you wanted to. Ever hear of Murray Hallam? It would be cool if you connected with him somehow. I learned alot from him. RobsAquaponics is also very good at aquaponics if you are interested, although he stopped his channel a year ago. Good stuff too. For the type of chicken question you asked I'd say Brahma chicken. Hawks can be a real problem with the silkie if you have any in your area. They lay about 50% more eggs a year than the silkie ones, and much larger to boot. Just dont get a male, as when the female broods they can get mean. Regardless what you pick be mindful of hawks for sure, as that would be a sad day.
To kill the lantana, which can cause liver failure in the goats if they ingest the seedpods, I'd use the cut stump treatment method. An electric hedge trimmer to cut them down one at a time then immediately apply by brushing on the stem Roundup Super Concentrate at a higher than normal ratio to be sure it kills it. Although, I am with others the amount of butterflies and hummingbirds you will lose will be substantial. Be sure to wear protective gear too most lantana can irritate skin, and the roundup is poison straight up! I'd actually try to keep the goats away for atleast 48 hours, or until the roundup fully dries and becomes inert to reintroduce the goats incase they try to graze on it. G'day see ya!

You must be waking up every day and smiling !
I don't know how close your new neighbours are (or how much you hate early mornings 😁), but a rhode Island Red Cockerell is a magnificent looking bird, and the chickens are hardy and good egg layers (they will produce enough for you to make a small income from).
Just a thought for a goat name,
    "Jean Paul goatier" !
    CONGRATULATIONS KAITY.
PS. Guinea fowl are vocal when they see a predator and will alert you and the other animals. The "helmeted" and "royal" guinea fowl have stunning plumage as well.
