- In this video, we go over the Chorus and Pre-Chorus from "Love Yourself" by Justin Bieber (written by Ed Sheeran). This easy fingerstyle song uses a power chord (easy movable 2-finger shape) and a strum slap technique. It sounds great on electric or acoustic guitar.

This song uses a "slap" technique quite a lot, so you'll definitely want to practice that quite a bit to make sure you're getting the right sound. You can find more information on that, including how to do it on acoustic and electric guitar, and how to incorporate it into your own strumming patterns here: goodguitarist.c...
Aside from the slap technique, this song is quite straight-forward and my students have all had a pretty fun and easy time getting it together. Watch out for the finger-placement - you really need to make sure you're picking the correct strings as the guitar part stands out so much in this tune (it's just guitar and voice!). And if you're playing this on an electric guitar, take your time finding a tone that sounds good for both the "slap" sound and for the notes you'll be playing. If you're playing on an acoustic guitar, try slapping JUST beside the sound-hole, and not over it, or too close to the bridge.

Can someone pls explain it to me why do you need your second finger on a 4th string when you are playing E chord when you are playing just first second and third string???

I actually tried singing along to it, but since I'm playing it slower, it felt awkward. I'll keep this in mind next time, and maybe play the melody on guitar to make it easier for everyone to follow along with their ear. Thanks for the suggestion!

the e chord had me confused cause he is plucking the 4,5 and 6th strings but the chart has my 1st finger on the 3rd string for what

If you don't put your finger there it's an Em wich is what you kind of play. You can play without the finger in the 3rd string. I know it's a late answer but here you are😂
this second tutorial is not as good as the first one. you are already assuming we know the cords. you should also explain where to place our fingers like in the first video
