We love it and use it all the time dry camping. We use it mostly on propane!
Have 2 champion 2500 inverters that I use in parallel and I absolutely love them. They are very quiet and, when in parallel, work great for running my air conditioner and heater in my travel trailer. Champion scores big again!

I have one of these units and use it often. I am an Industrial/Commercial Journeyman Electrician and often do jobs that doesn't have.... you guessed it.. available power. This generator has never let me down. Much easier to carry in my truck and handle than a full sized heavy as a horse generator. It's quiet too compared to the bigger guys. This thing is a winner all around in my eyes, it charges my tools, runs my corded tools and you can use the 12V output with the appropriate cables to charge a car or truck battery at a decent rate. Love mine and have impressed a few guys at work. Eco mode is the icing on the cake.

Can this unit run a standard refrigerator?

Just got mine and I really like the dual fuel system. Why the Dual Fuel version is because I use it in my fishing boat during the weekends and camp out on the water away from the super large freight vessels that's running back an fort the delta river . I keep the generator and 20lb propane tank in the front bow section of my aluminum river boat where it large and away from fumes and noise. This generator is very quiet and does not disturb us by the low sound it puts out when running. I use it to charge multi batteries in the boat and run lights, propane grill , heater, phones and my radio's . I like the version of running the propane side instead of gas due to the fumes that I can smell and that the propane is cleaner on the carb.and better running time on propane and cheaper per gal.
That's exactly why we got this one. We only use it on propane.
This looks like it would be handy to have for a multitude of reasons. We wouldn't mind having one for a home for when the power went out. Look super easy to operate too. Great video! Lynn and Danny

My oil after break in looked very similar. I'll probably change the oil again after another 5-10 hours just to compare.

We’ve heard some great things about the champion brand generator! We have the more affordable generator from Harbor freight; however, it would be nice to have the dual fuel option. I can totally hear some horses in the background. LOL.
I was looking at the harbor freight generator but went with this one because it's duel fuel. We use it primarily on propane. And yes lol or neighbors have a few horses.

So the 11.5 hours run time is for 1 tank of gas which is basically 1 gallon right. I believe this one shows 34 hours (the specs on champion site says 25 hours) on 20lb propane tank which is 4 gallons since they don't fill all the way. So if i have 4 gallons of gas i could run it 44 hours instead of 34.
I think it also states that it is less efficient on propane (less output). However, I really ever run it more than an hour so it's negligible to me.
Also, it's easier running it on propane because I don't have to carry an extra gas can with me. I already have propane on my RV

Yes I love it. I'm happy we got it. I run it mostly on propane and it's never disappointed. I love that it's dual fuel also.
After a lot of research I have decided on the same generator. Now that you have had time to use the generator how did it work while using your air conditioner. I have a 27ft trailer and I’m hoping this will power my air air conditioner while boondocking in this Texas heat.
We have used it a lot while boondocking. However we don't go to places where we will need our AC, if we do need our AC we go to a place that has hookups. However, if I were to try to use my AC I'd put a soft start on the AC and use gas in the generator since the gas side of it has more power.
I have the Champion 2000 watt duel fuel generator and it puts out 1440 watts on propane. I run my 12000 BTU window A C unit and a few other things that use a little power. With the 2500 watt generator it should run your A C but little else, maybe your tv. (1650 watt on propane) depends on how much your A C unit draws? I f my figures are correct it should power up to 13.75 amps on propane.
I have a champion and the manual says to use 5w-30 if switching to synthetic. Regular is 10w-30.
Synthetic might be the way to go.

It does not run my ac, but it runs the microwave, water heater, charges the battery, and the refrigerator if that's the only thing on.

In the video it sounds pretty loud, even though you say it is quiet. At what distance to a running unit would you be comfortable sitting with some friends without being distracted?
When I have it running it's on the driver's side of the RV, and we sit on the passenger side and it doesn't affect the conversation at all.

I have used it in Prescott near Thumb Butte. It worked great. I plan on bringing it to Williams and am not anticipating any problems with it.

I did. I had it run for 5 hours right off the batt
I found out that if you tip it over to far the oil won't drain.

Hello I have a question about using gas or the propane part of the generator can I use only the propane part of it and when I do want to use the gas part of it do I have to let it run dry so that way there is no way of corrosion inside the tank and by using only the propane will that mess up the generator and anyway and how to store it also have you had any problems with that yet
So what most people do is start out with gas, let that run out and switch it over to propane. Now, I only use propane. I don't think it will hurt it by only using propane. But I'm not 100% on that. I do wonder if the carbonator will will suffer from not using it. Also, I'm not sure if the carbonator is duel fuel or there are two different ones. Hopefully this answers your question.
You don't have to let the gas run out, it will seperate the gas from the propane automatically. If you use gas stabilizer and ethanol free gas your gas storage will not go bad and harm the carb or gas tank. It only has one carb for both the gas and propane. You should also use ethanol free gas with stabilizer and it will last 2 years.
Why synthetic oil
And what do you think about using premium gas?
The synthetic oil was recommended, maybe because of the high RPMs. And I have only used it on propane. But, I don't think premium would be a bad thing.
You don't need to use premium gasoline for the octane rating but a gasoline with 0% ethanol would be best.
So if you wanted the best for your generator premium gas and synthetic oil Would be best?
@@diverm2371 Use ethanol-free gasoline to avoid it gumming up the carb if it’s left in the generator for longer periods. (I still use a stabilizer in my small engines.) Or use strictly propane. Use synthetic oil after the initial break-in period. (Use good old fashioned dinosaur oil for the break-in period.)
I'm not a mechanic, but I would venture to say yes, use high octane gas and a quality synthetic oil in small engines.@@diverm2371

Have you tried and will it run the campers AC?
No, not yet. We do want to get a soft start for the AC. Also, I think it would have to be running off of gas since the propane has less running watts
@@thejagfamily08 thats probably true about gas vs propane. I have a Dometic 15,000 AC unit so I’m really not sure it would work. If it did, it would be the only thing I could run.

@@thejagfamily08 yes, we live in Arkansas and the humidity would kill us.
Propane is all based on weight, not gallons. Saying you used ".14 gallons per hour" does not make any sense or mean anything. All propane bottles are based on weight. The specs say a 20 pound bottle should last about 34 hours. That comes out to about 1.7 pounds per hour. So roughly 2 of the Coleman camping bottles per hour.

Do you know who makes the engine ?
The champion generator is powered by different engines. Depending on the generator model you choose, your champion generator may be powered by a Honda, Yamaha or Kohler engine.
I thought you only use full synthetic oil if it’s 5w 30 ?
Not that I'm aware of. I have used fully synthetic oil in a variety of weights for years.
You should use regular oil for the brake in which is 5 hours@ less than 50 per sent load. 10w 30.
The manual states 5W-30 is the only synth. allowed.
If all else fails, follow the directions.

Does it run your 13.5k ac?
I haven't tried it. I'd assume you'd need at least a spot start for that to work
I bought one and took an hour before it would even start..I'm thinking my regulator is Bad.. it should not take an hour to start this up coming from propane.
No, an hour is a long time. However, I have had times where it takes 5-10 pulls to get it started. It seems to be common with these generators

You could also have a bad propane tank. Check with Champion customer service, they are very good.
