Starting off riding I had one of these for 6 years beat the living piss out of it, never changed the air filter or changed the oil and rode almost every other weekend. That was 14 years ago and it still runs today without any issues. Slow as hell tho
I have a 03, use it as my little trail putter for when i don’t feel like riding my yz250, previous owner put a kx 85 front end with the inverted forks and the rear shock off it too so it does REALLY good over bumps and shit, I put a $50 Amazon top end in it and beat the shit out of it and it doesn’t seem to care at all, opened up the airbox and threw a pipe on it then went up to a 20 pilot and 120 main just for the hell of it. I have it studded right now for the winter it’s fun to ride around on the ice and shit good for this year essentially since there’s next to no snow for sledding
Properly taking care of it??? My 03 ttr125 had no issues running off of no oil, or sinking it 5 ft in water (it rode home). Also, he. Trying to make the bike compared to a 450 race bike😂.
Exactly 💯. Its a great trail bike. Pit bike. 18hp! 5spd tranny. Adjustable suspension. Honda CRF125FB is lame. Less HP. Less suspension & no adjustment for anything. Yamaha for the win. Buy it new. Kids don't take care of there bikes. Facts. -NY
I am 44, 5'6, beginner and a casual rider. Trying to decide between this or a Honda 125. Got to start somewhere. Feel like I have missed out on everything by not having one all of these years. I like the blue.
Hey, better now than later! There are plenty of guys and gals that start later in life than you ;) You're on the edge of this and a full-size bike. Have you considered the TTR230, Nate? ruclips.net/video/KziacHhloAQ/видео.html
This seems like a great bike to convert to a street legal supermoto. Would be so fun and snappy around town. An alternative to bikes like the Grom or Z125.
If you’re gonna get it for your kids honestly just go with a 110. I had it a year before my cousin got his CRF125 and he couldn’t fit properly on his bike for about 3 or 4 years although he’s always been a shorter dude. But aside from height quickshift is just easier and safer for kids.
They're all great bikes that are very similar. We've multiple of each brand and outside of EFI (which is really nice), I prefer the KLX140 over red and blue when riding.
I'm a honda guy but this ttr is a great beginner bike an meant to be a beginner bike it's not meant to run like a YZ... I have an older ttr225 an it's 100% reliable an does great in the woods...
Ha, thanks for watching! If you're referring to the seat, they're both pretty similar. You can probably buy an aftermarket seat if you need something more comfortable, but I recommend learning how to properly stand (ruclips.net/video/9hgXMIY4cbc/видео.html) so that you don't get sore from sitting 100% of the time.
@@MotocrossHideout yeah i Calculate around 2 or 2.5 litres per 100km. Also one good thing for the TTR is that it has around 6L tank capillary and the crf only 3.7
It would be pretty small for you. I'd recommend the TTR230: ruclips.net/video/KziacHhloAQ/видео.html or the TTR250: ruclips.net/video/PKcVJgmuQxI/видео.html
You can check out this video: ruclips.net/video/iSeZl7h7lZA/видео.html Otherwise, if you're 6'6" tall, you should be riding something taller than a TTR125.
A course doesn't necessarily mean it has jumps. I enjoy riding "turn tracks" where it's just corners over the natural terrain - that's where you can really improve your skill and speed if you're practicing proper techniques and forming positive riding habits.
You're right on the edge of being too big. With that said, it would be a great bike to start on since it's quite a bit lighter and easier to handle than the next larger bike (TTR230).
is it really that tiny? i'm a 120 at 5'5.. im thinking i'll be just the right size for it.. found one of these on marketplace selling from a mom who doesn't know anything on dirtbikes so all she has in the desc is "2001 yamaha 125"
You'll fit just fine on it, especially if it's a large wheel (TTR125L with the front disc brake), but I ride small wheels all the time and I'm 5'6" 145.
@@MotocrossHideout awesome thank you! i think it's a TTR125L.. but i'm not 100% sure because it's hard to tell from the photos as the wheel is turned at an angle, but if the son is there when i go check it out i'll have to ask:)
Hi im looking to get a dirt bike this will be my first bike and I’m about 5’6 I was looking at this bike and also a klx 140 which one will be better for me or should I look for something else?
Both are great bikes. At your height, the large wheel is better than the small wheel version, but the KLX140 has the full size wheel option as well (140G or 140R F - same thing, they just changed the name for some reason). Let us know what you get!

From my experience, it sounds like it needs to be rebuilt/replaced or a stiffer spring. I weigh 145 lbs and can ride single track trails on stock suspension without getting bucked around. Adjusting riding technique can make a big difference to make up for soft suspension as well.

18hp is better than Hondas lame CRF125FB. These are trail bikes not race bikes guys! -NY
I’m 6’1 180 pounds and a very experienced rider and I absolutely love my ttr125 for around the trails and wheelies

Best bike by far ive ever had
And ive had many.....
How is the seat on the TTR125 ? does it hurt the bottom ?
Yes best bike in class by far. Honda CRF125FB is lame. 4spd. Less suspension travel no adjustment. Yamaha TTR125LE has 18HP. Nice 👍🏻 💯 -NY
@@MrIBM01 No unless your 190lbs. It has preload/adjustable compression. Jack it up stiffer. 18HP !! 👍🏻💪🏻

Imma buy it anyways
It’s tiny .
@@austinhoffa99 I want a tiny bike
The ttr 125le tops out at 55 bone stock on concrete atleast mine does
Yeah it was my estimate, thanks for sharing!
What’s the recommended height of driver?
5'6" I believe

says it in like the first thirty second watch the video jesus
I’m 15 and 5’8 but I’ve never ridden a dirt bike before. Would this be a good bike for me?
The TTR230 would fit you a little better, but the large wheel 125 would be fine if you prefer to start on a smaller bike.
I’m 6,2 240 I’m gonna buy one of these wish me luck lol
Want to see outdated look at Honda CRF125FB . 4spd tranny. Less suspension w/no adjustment. Fail! Yamaha TTR125LE is best bike in this class. 💯

Small wheel vs large just get the large. It’s only 1” difference in riding height.

Ha, thanks for watching! If you're referring to the seat, they're both pretty similar. Have you seen gas in the oil of a brand new 2024 TT-R125LE? I took mine in for the 1st service and it had gas mixed with the oil.
That's not normal. I would call your dealer and talk to them before riding it again. Let us know what you find out.
