One of the biggest complaints I hear from fellow trail riders is "I don't have time to ride". I know that a 13 tooth sprocket works good on a crf150r. Might have to cut a link out, which you will. But, so far after being thrown onto a 150rb after not riding for 6-7 years after a bad wreck on a crf110, the 13 has definitely come in handy in tight turns going to a fire road and other trails like Bethel. Just also you still have to feather the clutch sometimes. Also, for a 150r carbonator, you can also use a Honda Helix clone carb. The jetting just needs to be changed during summer and winter, as normal. But also helps with kickstarting. Just another thing, the hot start would be a choke. Also have to adapt and clamp hoses since the carb is backwards. When you lay over, open the throttle, which it would still be stubborn of course, just not as bad. After a long boring story, farewell:)

My only guidance, prior to this trip, has been You Tube. A lot of mixed messages out there….. Your “simple” approach resonates with me. In my (limited) experience: I’d add that I have good days & bad days. A lot of the time it seems that if I’m not really “in the zone”, a 10min break can make a huge difference. I’m probably just relaxing my body & “death grip “ Thanks

    Hi! I have a 98 WR400 with a 450 carb. It did not respond to the mixture screw and did not die when fully seating the screw. I changed the pilot jet from the stock 48 to a 45 to a 43 to a 40 to a 38 to now a 35, HUGE change. Now it responds to the idle screw, 2 turns out seems best. It does not sputter when lugging the engine in high gear but it sputters bad with just a bit more revs and a small throttle opening. Wacking full throttle feels perfect. It backfires quite a bit from half the rev range back down to idle. I am confused. Can a 35-38 idle jet be right? And should I also lower the needle to remove the sputter when cruising?

  • @opuntina
    @opuntina 2 дня назад

    I am learning that i can just give it throttle, look a was ahead to pick a line, and trust the bike to just do it's thing as far as going over the rocks goes. It's way better at rocks than I am it seems.

  • @zm6771
    @zm6771 2 дня назад

    Always stay standing in rocks. Always. Keep your weight on the balls of your feet and let the bike work. You don't need weight on your hands unless you're specifically trying to weight the front end. Your hands aren't there to support your body weight. Also, look where you want to go, not where you want to avoid. I had a bad target fixation issue for a long time because I looked AT the big rocks, not at the line where I wanted to go. The flat line isn't always the best line. Sometimes it is better to go over the tops of the higher rocks and line then up to stay out of the holes between rocks. Getting stuck in those holes is when you get into the really tiring stop and go situations.

    It's 96F with a 100F heat index by 11 a.m., with boots and a helmet, that's heat exhaustion in short order... so, summertime is mostly out of the questions unless it's a 8-11 ride, and even then it's risky for heat injury.

    My favorite way, don't get a dirt bike. Get a dual sport so you can ride anywhere. No more time wasted loading into a truck, no more worries about road legal issues. Trips to the store now become riding time, and chances to take an alternative route or trail on the way. Alot of things can be done off of a motorcycle that you would usually use a car for. Groceries and most smaller things are easy to fit in a milk crate that's strapped down to the back of the bike.

    If you're not putting weight on the handlebars, and you move your hips back, all your weight is still going through the footpegs and not changing how much weight on front vs rear tire. My question is, are you saying I should push/pull on the bars, or are you saying that moving your hips back still affects the bike despite not changing the weight distribution?

    • @MotocrossHideout
      @MotocrossHideout 2 дня назад

      Great question. My goal is to push/pull on the bars as little as possible so that I conserve energy because I'm more likely to get fatigued when using my upper body. Moving my hips back does distribute some weight to the rear compared to keeping them in the middle. The problem that I was trying to point out is that some trail riders keep too much weight back on the seat that the only direction they can go is forward unless you let go of the bars, and this can cause the front-end/wheel to be too "light", making it more likely to slide out or dance around. With the balanced body position, I can easily shift my weight any direction based on what the bike is about to do. Does that make sense?

Just bought my first bike, a CRF250L, this year and tomorrow will be going out with my wife to ride off road for the first time in 40 years. Wife has never ridden a motorcycle, so we got her a small ATV so she won't have to learn clutch, at least immediately. Start with the air/fuel screw. If you want to learn how to do it in just a few minutes, grab my free guide in the description and let us know how it goes.

    I have the same problem on my son’s yz125. It wants to stalk when dropped into first and you have to put it in neutral when starting. I have replaced everything with OEM : cable, basket, inner hub, fibers and plates, and the push rod is not worn down. The pressure plate releases with a large gap.

      Is the clutch cable properly adjusted? ruclips.net/video/xGXXff7-2VY/видео.html Is the idle RPM set too low? What oil are you using in the transmissionn? If it's too sticky, that can cause the plates to stick, especially if it's old oil.

      Thanks for the response. Yes I believe the cable is adjusted properly and I have ATF in there. Fluid new with the rebuilt clutch. I don’t think the isle is too low but I will play with raising it up some. This has been going on for a couple of years

      Nice. Tall bars can definitely open up the cockpit and help as long as they don't shift your body too far back to an unbalanced riding position that causes the front-end to slide out more easily. Thanks for watching and sharing, Adam!
