In Japan your blood type is treated the same as a zodiac sign, as in it's supposed to be indicative of your personality and what kinds of people you do and don't get along with.
How am i supposed to remember my damn blood type that's exactly like trying to figure out if im 5'7 or 5'8 without the measuring tape (I.. can't find it😅) ill just ask my mother. lol
Style savvy has SO much variety in what you can do as well. I’ve technically finished the game (saw the credits after the fashion show) and I’m still doing so much within the game
I grew up with Style Savvy and it’s the gold star I compare all fashion games to so I was supper disappointed with Fashion Dreamer but it grew on me since it’s super easy for my 6 year old niece to play since she doesn’t have to worry about money and we will make up themes to dress our characters up for like going to a amusement park or going to the beach so we have had hours of fun playing
i'm one of the few people that actually enjoyed fashion dreamer for a while and model debut 3 looks like it's completely up my alley!! immediately wishlisting lol ty for the thorough review!
I'm considering buying fashion dreamer it seems like something I'd like as my main favorite thing about dressing up is quite simply dressing up. Any thoughts? ❤
@@darkwebgirl I think if you're willing to pay $35 (currently on sale but normally $50) for that experience, then sure. Imo games like Dress to Impress, the Nikki mobile games, or any old flash dress up game can scratch that itch for free
@@jorrdan.it’s still has in app purchases like crazy when you could dead just buy this game outright for about the same cost you’d be paying for good or premium stuff on those games.
@@darkwebgirl There is a mobile game called SuitU that is a dress up game and in my opinion, it is a super fun game and i feel obsessed with it i'm not gonna lie. It has a big purchase feature tho (gachas and so), but you can also be a f2p gamer without a problem. Sorry if there is something bad with my writing, english isn't my first language.
tbh kinda tired of games from japan being excused for lack of skin tones because they weren't intended to be popular outside of the region. black people VERY much exist in japan and we all know how much they "LOVE" black culture out there... like yes i get rubbed the wrong way seeing how trendy black culture is anywhere and yet those people will always choose to exclude us when possible
exactly, I've watched way to many documentaries or people that are black or people of color and they HATE them there, they literally just say they're dirty, and that is the most disrespectful nonsense I've ever heard in my life, just because we're darker than you, doesn't mean we're DIRTY. and they should know that, plus being golden is the beauty standard here. I wish they'd stop acting like they're beauty standards apply to everyone they see, and no im not trying to lump every single Asian person into this it's more or less just what society over there thinks not.. every single Asian person there in Asia
I don't get why ur so mad about it... Black people aren't the demographic in Japan! Yea they exist in japan but compared to the millions of Japanese people... Like how many are born raised and speak and read the language fluently... It's not alot you don't see Americans going out of their way to market towards Japanese people do you?
The Lack of skin tones is a major deal breaker (Dark skin blerd Girlie ). But if you do get to Japanese only games PLEASE PLEASE TALK ABOUT PRIPARA AND ITS PRECURSOR PRETTY RHYTHM AURORA DREAM! UGH I wish they and Aikatsu came to America!
I'm mixed but I'd still play it, regardless it still annoys me there's not any more color options, im genuinely used to that lmao like nobody cares which is dumb so i give up😅
I think it'd be amazing if SS:FF came to the switch as a remaster. I love the alternative styles and I don't think Model Debut 3 has those which makes me sad.
This is way off topic but in Animal Crossing New Leaf, once you unlock the island area (which happens pretty early) you can go there to tan your character; if you reach a point where you're at the skin tone you want and don't want to go darker you need to pull out an umbrella. Over time your character will start to pale again so it takes some management now and then, and it's ridiculous this is something you have to manage like this at all, but it is doable. (Also theres so many Asian people with naturally darker skin tones than what Model Debut has options for, even if this game was never supposed to release outside of Japan this is such blatant colorism 😬)
12 minutes into this video and you convinced me get this game (didn't need a lot of convincing) I'm soooo excited to try it out cuz after the initial hype of fashion dreamer died down I saw it for what it really was, an incredibly shallow game with very limited things to do! I still play it to this day, but every time I do, I always say something like, "I wish they added this or that," and I remember very rarely thinking that when playing the past style savvy games. so i'm excited to see what this game has to offer ❤
the reason they ask about blood type is that your blood type has a lot of cultural significance in japan! but it is an odd edition for a north american port lol
Yeah considering most people here don't know their blood type, unless A) They serve or have served in the Military. Their blood type is in their Military records and on their ID tags. B) They donate blood/organs. C) They received a blood/organ transfusion. - I fall into this category because I'm anemic and I had a blood transfusion.
I never played style savvy as a kid so I can’t comment on the similarities, but when I was a kid, I was obsessed with this game called pop cutie street fashion simulator for the ds. It’s another game where you run your own boutique.
As someone who's never played Style Savvy as a kid but started playing it through emulators as an adult, oh my god I'm obsessed. When you talk about the progression from boutique worker to model, it makes so much sense! It feels so much more satisfying than just being a model off the bat! Just to vamp, I think it's more fun dressing up the customers rather than myself as I get to experiment with different styles. I just put myself in a box otherwise! Plus love getting invested in my costumers!
If you do start playing japan exclusive games I'd love to see you talk about magician's quest! The first game got an American release on the ds but all the later entries are JP exclusive. It's basically animal crossing meets magic & it's so adorable
Honestly its such a shame that the english translation is so EXTREMILY expensive, even though i love the japanese versions i would have loved to play the english one too but cant justify dropping up to 200€ on a single ds game
i never heard of the series until 3, i bought the japanese version thinking there was no way it would release in english since none of the others were, behold my surprise (and irritation) that they would release it in English a year later. also on the topic of skintones, there asre JAPANESE people with deeper skintones as well, so its alwasy wild to me that these games never include darker skintones. i know its because of the "beauty standard" but like darker skintoned japanese people exist so even if the game wasnt going to release outside of japan theyre stil alienating people. does anyone know if the game ends on year 3 or can you keep playing?
I agree with you cons about the game! I wish I had this review before I brought it because I regret it lol. I also think the translations are stilted and awkward. There's a lot of fluff like why do we need the same photoshoot cut everytime with no skip option? Everything felt limited from the text box limit to the dialog options. No matter what option you choose, it's the same response from the characters every time. lol
I actually did hear about this game, surprisingly. But I only ever knew the name, so it's great to learn about the actual game. Can't wait for the new Nikki!🙏
Once you do cover Japan-only games, I’d really love if you covered the pre-style savvy/girls mode early 2000s fashion games released in Japan like love & berry
Thank you so much for telling us about this game I'm downloading it now 😅. I agree it doesn't have the same vibe as style savvy but it's wayyyyyyy better than Fashion Dreamer. I think it's a good middle ground. This was a great review keep up the good work!

OMG are you really studying Japanese? You should totally check out this game called magicians quest mysterious times aka enchanted folk on ds. It’s like if you combined animals crossing with harry Potter. you should try out the 3DS game that was only released in Japan so it’s only in Japanese, but it has way more fashion elements.
