Welcome back to home waters Tom! Great content as always. It's hard to not keep fish on a highly pressured lake because they are so hard to get but I have totally bought into your catch and release mentality.
mid- 90's i put the hurt on the walleyes in summer on Lake Winnebago on the northland whistler jig. I would regularly out-fish my dad 9-1 who was using a standard jig-nightcrawler. it was all about covering water and triggering the biters. Shorebound angler now, but definitely like this new design and will need to get some.
What happen to Tom Boley and SI finding fish, and casting back bobber fishing them, or trolling crawlers, or cranks at night,or rippin rapping them off the back of the boat? Seems the Mega live is the only tool he uses anymore. How many average joe fisherman have the big threes front forward sonar?
Is there a trick to casting these? Every time I cast the search bait the hook gets caught up on the line. I'm using the slow death hook. I haven't tried the straight hook yet. I hope that fixes the issue. I bought 10 of these primarily for casting. Please let me know if there is a trick to cast them and not get the hook fouled up on the line.
Tom I see that your heading sensor is by the stern drive but Minn Kota is on the bow. Question Your a tiller i have a console with bow mounted Minn Kota Where should I have the heading sensor? My hummingbird is at the console too. And no bow hummingbird. Thanks Roy
Tom, are you kinda regretting not getting the auto deploy Minn Kota?? I am. I thought for sure it was sketchy and would break so I chuckled to myself when my buddies got them. Now years later they are still running great and I am still running to the bow
They're great when they work.... They suck when they don't. I've had a few and I've repaired them. The current Ulterra I have will probably be the last one
These videos are solid, Tom. I can't think of anything to improve upon. Keep up the good work. Enjoy life and take a break from editing more! Ha, ha. I love to edit, but even 6 days in a row for me could be a killer. Everything in moderation if possible. I'd hate to see you get burned out on the grind as some RUclipsrs have experienced.
@@TomBoley love the new search bait , they are definitely hard to get your hands on rn sold out everywhere. Jw do you have any suggestions on where to look or maybe a online source that a guy can still acquire them thru yet
Tom love your channel, so this technique will work with 50 to 100 boats moving around? Jet skiers flying past? The guides in northern Illinois will not fish the lakes we have to fish, (time constraints )
i know it's not the topic of this video, but could you please do a video on how to unravel/unwrap a lindy rig? It's just something stupid that I always seem to struggle with, and I can't find a video anywhere on the topic. I just know there has to be a way to do this easily. Thanks.
Loving the search bait when it runs right! Any tips on keeping it from tangling on itself when casting it out? Seems like it wants to hook up on itself about 50% of the time!
Nice walleyes can you come back to lake Erie to the Western basin doing the same thing what you doing right there you was by davis-besse PowerPlant I seen your RUclips
It is. It's basically the exact same thing, except it runs a single hook instead of a treble to single hook. Walleye Nations Creations is awesome. If people want this lure, go to the people who came up with it. I support Kalins too, but WNC did it first and did it better.
To be fair I’ve fished the death jig. It’s nice but the Kalin looks a bit more advanced. It’s a little wanky to rig the death jig. Fun new stuff though.
Great video early morning or night fishing is key here in Northern mn hate fishing in a crowd like to give the fish something different to look at prefer to run and gun pitching jigs or cranks this looks great my girlfriend likes to come with jigging but hates getting stuck so she is all bobber but in the super dark water I think fish miss most jigs etc. She does OK with a modified spinner set up but this might be better ?
Hey Tom, love your knowledge! A thing I've noticed about you is that when you get pressured at all by other boats you move and become very secretive. But yet on videos you basically cast our poles for us and tell us what to use. You would have a very tough time in the spring, dam fishing the Mississippi on the weekend. Lol. Just an observation
I just picked up a couple of the Search Baits. I tried one out this morning with an artificial leech. I noticed about 50/50 the hook was getting caught on head/weight. Is this a common issue? Any tips? I did have a snap swivel on as i just changed it quick. Maybe that was the cause....?
Sorry Tom but here in Connecticut when you get to lake at 4.30 am there are already 10 boats ahead of you . Been trying to catch a walleye for 10 years around here bud too much pressure. Always multiple boats in sight
1:20 ... 13:20 .... hmmmmmmmmmm... that looks rather odd? I have a handful of Kalin Search bait FIRE TIGERS and neither of them look like that, nor do any that I've seen online. All of my Kalin's do NOT have the black vertical bars. Now, my Death Jigs DO have the vertical black bars,.Wonder if this "Kalin rig" is actually a Frankenstein version using Walleye Nations weighted portion with the fire tiger paint? hmmm 🤔🤔
@@TomBoley ah, thanks for the tip. Although don't know why they would be attracted to that horrible scent left behind from the sharpie ink. But hey, maybe that's the newest scent attraction? 👍
Hey Tom do you think live image should be outlawed? I think it's not fishing, it's catching. With out it, how would your success ratio vary. I like side scan.
I’m sorryTom,is it REALLY a ‘search’ bait if You’ve already located fish with Mega live? Just kidding, thanx for all the GREAT information and video content. Tight lines buddy keep ‘em coming.
Man, i wish i could find some search baits. I've been looking for a while now, and they're always sold out. I live in nw wisconsin. If you or anyone knows where to find some, please help me out.
Poor guy complaining about having to spend time editing videos. He had the best job in the world, while the majority of his viewers have to work real jobs and can only fish when they get a chance to... 😂 Count your blessings dude...
I'm sorry, but for the life of me I cannot see what's happening on the livescope Tom has overlayed in the videos! I thought you saw actual fish swimming (like what you see on a baby's ultrasound). Then again, I can't see crap on side-imaging in my own boat either. With this overlay Tom shows, all I see is what appears to be a weedy bottom.
I have been following you silently for a long time. Now I need to break my silence and give thanks for all the good coaching you give us Thanks!
That chromakeyed Live Scope footage overlay is pretty dope.
That's not livescope
Tom uses mega live
360 No Scope Mega combo with fries is what I call it actually
@@blake.everyday lmfao 😂 I agree with both comments
Mega live overlay is awesome. I picked up a couple search Baits at my local Fleet Farm
R u going to be fishing the Chippewa flowage July 15 - 22

Great vid as usual. Really frustrating how Acme tackle is constantly sold out of their products though.
What kind of boat do you have tom?
I made my own search baits but cant attach pictures. Cost me about 2 bucks to make lol. Sold out everywhere
Looking forward to the mega live info on WN
Tom love the vids bra! Up here in Washington State you should plan a trip. And vid some of banks lake you would love it
What is the math for trolling as in how much line out for what weight and troll speed to reach desired depth

Heading sensors are not needed nowadays.
How to catch pressured walleyes without Mega Live?
Does your new boat come with a sunscreen dispenser in it ?

How do you keep ur TM deploying so nicely? I’ve greased everything I think could cause it to bind and it’s still tough to release.

here just a crazy thought. i showed my uncle my live scope and he said he had the almost the exact same tech in the early 90s. while in the navy...

Absolutely. Humminbird does good with down and side imaging but garmin is way better with livescope.

Could never use those search baits where I primarily fish due to so many snags...we be bankrupt after a week. They are crazy expensive.

Nice
All those unused snap jigs, blade baits, and swim baits in peoples tackle boxes are going to be sad watching them buy another lure lol

go to 12:29 those vertical lines are a group of fish. If you look closely you can see his jig go through the school and one takes it.
This is Humminbirds mega live, not Garmin Livescope. In my opinion Livescope is way easier to see what's going on
