Congratulations to Altuve on hitting for the cycle. I was surprised he hadn't done it before but I'm glad he finally did it. That home run to complete the cycle was crushed, over the Green Monster and it looked like it almost went out of Fenway. Let’s Go!!! On the day AFTER Peña needed a home run for the cycle, and Peña said “I got a 5 hit game before Altuve” Altuve hits for the cycle, 2K hits, now what’s next?
Jose Altuve is 33 years old, listed at 5'6" and 166 pounds. This year, as of Monday August 28, he has played in only 62 games this season and is hitting for an average of .322 with an OnBasePercentage of .415 and and OPS of.944 Early in his career, Jose Altuve could drive the ball to all fields and then wreak havoc on the bases with his legs. As the years and accolades piled up, Altuve became more of a pull hitter who developed serious power. So it was only a matter of time before he was able to pull all his tools together for one unforgettable night. Only two weeks after becoming the third Astros player in history to reach 2,000 career hits, Altuve recorded the franchise’s first cycle -- a single, double, triple and home run in the same game -- in 10 years in Houston’s 13-5 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Amazing that he got the Cycle this game now puts him at 2013 hits in 282th place in the all time list for hits. 202 HR's now which puts him 98 away from possibly being in the 300 300 club as he is almost there on stolen bases. Only sad thing was the ball went out of the park so there is no way he can keep it but maybe he got one of the other balls he hit to remember this game.
@@4thand3 Waner was a CF (Lloyd), Paul was RF.. Brothers and both HOFers.. So, I’m probably going with Alomar, Morgan, Collins as my list.. Kent was very good, too, but not my cup of tea..

@scottwaldo I think what he meant is that the Stros were the 1st to get to 75 before the Mariners did. Rangers still at 74. We do still have more losses then Rangers and Mariners
Congrats Jose. Such a shame that some idiot in New York, where they couldn't spell 'class' if you spotted them the first 4 letters (but they'd get the last 3 letters to be sure), spoiled the reputation of such a genuinely good and decent man. In reality Altuve is 100% class and goes out of his way to do so many kind & charitable things in giving back to many of the less fortunate down here in H-town.
My initial thoughts on the triple was the center fielder played it terribly. Went back and watched in slow motion. Maybe you give the center fielder a break as he could have been thinking leaping catch at the wall, but it still hit 15 feet up. You have to know your own ball park better than that. Playing for the bounce off the wall might keep Altuve at a double. Fortunately, I’m an Astros fan so no complaints here.
Okay but WHAT was Duval doing on the double and triple lol. Dude's just totally misreading the ball and bouncing off the wall instead of playing off the bounce, and this is his home ballpark
The triple was kinda hilarious.. No way the 2nd run scores if he just backs off and plays it cleanly.. But I kinda gave up on that when I saw all 4 Philly batter’s swing at the first pitch when they’re down 3 runs in the 9th, facing elimination?!.. What?.. lol..
