Interesting application of those Chum Kiu details. Makes perfect sense. Adding those to my training. Keep up this awesome content and that 'vicious' tone
I am currently learning Chum Kiu. This video and the others are really helpful to better understand some of the movements and the concepts behind them. Thank you for publishing them!
I like the terminology there with the examples. The concept of constant forward movement is cemented in these examples as intruding the opponents space and overwhelming the opponent with so much pressure that they cannot realistically think of their way out. Thanks so much for this, it's very enlightening!
Informative demonstration. Your uke or demonstration partner deserves a bow and some thanks for his generosity of spirit imo. Also, given that Wing Chun focuses a bit on the "middle range", I want to study more how it applies to thai clinch, judo, or grappling ranges more generally. Will search your video archive here. My suspicion is that b/c it is a genuine MARTIAL art, like defending one's life, it skips quite a bit of what you might learn in sport judo/bjj: b/c when trying to save your own life, elbows to the brain stem, knees/kicks to grounded opponent, etc, are all on the table. Most people, myself included, are likely not mentally/emotionally prepared for that level of brutality, though it is technically the "right answer" in such scenarios
I learned wing chun for 4 years either they dont want to teach it to you and they are stringing you along or they don't really know it themselves. I have watched this Sifu and how he applies Wing Chun is deadly. Straight to the point no nonsense. . The nuances he covers makes a big difference in applying it. Nobody has shown me Wing Chun like that. Alot of these wung chun schools I have attended dont even pressure test. Do you have any schools in the phila area?
I've been analyzing the forms and there are so many "hidden" applications. Hidden might be the wrong word but you get my drift. If you have a good teacher, an open mind, and martial creativity you can extract some cool stuff from the forms.
Those poor girls in the back are still Bridge-Seeking (chum kiu) because those effects are too difficult at their level. But yes, no doubt wing chun and yourself would make a good UFC challenger.
Interesting! I love Wing Chun and its attributes. But realistically, every style has a downfall. It's all about how you interpret each technique, etc. I would like to see this approach against an experienced fighter like a Wesler or a jujitsu guy.
Admittedly this guy is a knowledgeable and skilled teacher, but when students are this submissive and humble it tells something else about the teacher as well.
@@Simplygungfu Sadly in many cases that's true. But why constantly showing off - often in an obviously somewhat painful way - how well he can finish somebody off using techniques that are not even the focus of the teaching at that very moment. Other than establishing hierarchy, pecking order, that is. Be well!
@@gertjanterbraak6092 thanks for your concern but if you listen to our students comments many times they ask to be shown how it feels again. It’s important to show how vicious WT can be in real use. Our students safety is always important.
So you wanna sent him to Fall Sparring Season at Premier Martial Arts Plantation to show Milos is no keyboard warrior? Krav Maga vs Ving Tsun could be interesting
I did some WT for few months back in early 2000s (during the whole ebmas breakup) I wonder if anything changed in 20years. I guess I'll ask same question,... most of this seems practical and very few techs violate mma rules (except footstomp is illegal and elbow to neck is unsportsman like). So I have seen things like keeping forward pressure (and sort of staying contact) and hitting but applied different . For example chain punches with aggressively running after the guy. Here in WT they stick to the guy's leg (this is how you stop someone moving back away from your attack?) and punish with forward pressure. I don't think I've seen that kind of usage yet in MMA.

Great video. Would like to learn a one-person drill for this WC footwork for the relentless invasion of space.

Exactly
Yep, the forms are abstract. You will find the applications.
I'm going to enjoy doing Chum Kiu more after watching this video, cause now I will have more intention behind the moves
That’s great to hear! Thanks for the comment.
Beautiful stuff!

The best ground techniques are when they are on the ground and your not
Nice ending....😅
