BTS built a dramatic story of tragedies & time travel across many of their music videos, live performances, concert trailers, poster teasers, and social media. Everyone has their own theories, but here are some of the plot points that most people agree on, or have been confirmed by by official content (i.e. the different Notes booklets included in the Love Yourself albums). Now in “SAVE ME” webtoon.

Have any of you guys seen the movie 'The Butterfly Effect'? In that movie, the protagonist keeps rewriting the past to try to make everyone happy, and in the end he realised that they can't be happy if he was ever part of their life. So he writes himself out of the equation to make them happy. Like Jin filming the moments, he realises it's not right. He has to sacrifice himself to see the others as truly happy

But, it seems the Butterfly Effect can be solved, but it requires the sacrifice of someone and in this case it’s Jin. If there was no solution then it probably would be a Paradox Effect, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

I honestly think Jin's character is the saddest and strongest of all. I mean. Imagine yourself in his situation, trying to save your friends from all that tragedy, but not being able to, and having to repeat that over, and over and over...
I personaly wouldn't be able yo do that...
I would just end up depressed...

Guys. I have officially fallen into this fandom and universe. Now I see why my friends stan them.
I have an interesting theory, to add up to this universe: the 7 members represent the 7 sins, which can be clearly seen on fake love. They all have fake love because it is derived from a sin. They finally anderstand that their love is fake and wrong, because it comes from all the wrong places. They dont truly love themselves, which affects their love to the other members, because you cant love other when you dont love yourself, truly love yourself, because of who you truly are. Each member represent the sin that made them reach their tragedy.
Jin is probably pride, as he often calls himself worldwide handsome, which to is pretty self-centred. Maybe he is the one that is separated from the others because he thinks that he is better than them, but clearly understands now what a mistake thinking like that is, and what it brought upon the others life.
Yoongi is probably Wrath, as he is often shown with fire - the element that represents anger. And he separated himself from jungkook with violence.
Hoseok is probably gluttony, as in fake love he is seen lying on a huge load of candy. Also, he is shown taking a lot of medicine, which is an act of over indulgence.
Namjoon is probably envy, as he is shown in fake love standing infront of a mirror, and a wealthier himself is standing on the other side. There is a millisecond in which jungkook is shown, probably because jungkook is the wealthiest of them all in that universe. Namjoon envys jungkook.
Taehyung is probably sloth, as sloth is usually associated with phones and tv, and v is shown with loads of phones in fake love. Maybe Taehyung represents sloth as he fills guilt that he was too slow to do something about his abusive father, that later that made him snap and kill his father.
I still dont know are jungkook and jimin represent, and I highly doubt taehyung being sloth, but I will watch more mv and will try to make better explanations.
I know this theory is not perfect, I joined the army literary a few days ago, and this is my first theory video (which is so well planned and edited), which means I havent watched all their music videos yet.
Also, feel free to add things in the comments, Im sure I have a lot of missing and wrong things in here, and feel free sharing this theory, maybe someday somebody will actually could connect all the dots.

I also thought of them as the seven sins for a while because they are known to make biblical references (apples, snakes, the devil, Icarus, etc) it wouldn’t be a far fetched theory

Okay, I think Im starting to get the thing! Jin's character is very complex tought! He is the one who tryes to take back time and start the things over and over, but he always fails. Everytime he does something and managges to prevent a bad happening, a new one always occours. And the key for solving it, so the boys, all of them can live happily, is that they have to learn to love themselves. If they dont, then everything starts over and over, if they do, things will change and everything will be fine.

I dont think they are going to explain until we crack it. They probably enjoy reading the fan theories. I love being able to go through and come up with theories. I was thinking about writing all of these into an actual written story to test them. I have a feeling we are close though

not everyone can be happy in this storyline. that's why seokjin has to keep going back over and over again. whether it be taehyung getting arrested, namjoon feeling terrible over being unable to help, jungkook feeling neglected, yoongi feeling lost, hoseok feeling the need for support and jimin feeling forgotten. at least one of them has to be sad. in front of each other they behave normally and act happily, it's simply an act. that's how the industry works. behind closed doors, it doesn't matter who you are. you're supposed to just behave like this and that and be expected not to go mad. love yourself wasn't about happy unconditional love, it was about learning to just accept that side of yourself that everyone wants you to be. tear was about finally losing it and not being able to accept that side and answer was understanding, that no matter what you do... you can't be that person everyone wants you to be. you can't be the industry's ideals without breaking down.

Jin kinda reminds of the the girl in the Japanese movie 'the girl who leaped through time' (if you have time I suggest you watch it, it is a nice movie)... BTS and bighit is trying to say that no matter how we tried to turn back time and change everything, history will only gonna repeat itself since the root of all the storm (suicide, depression, anger, loneliness, bullying, etc) is still evident. You see the youth these days are suffering from all of these. Jin tried changing the course of time but in the end got greater consequences out of it, then he later realized the real solution, and that is to LOVE YOURSELF. BTS says that it is no coincidence that we met, whether, through internet, TV, acquaintance etc., since they believed that no man is an island, no man can stand alone... As you can see in the video, they are at their most vulnerable point when they are left alone... It is the most beautiful moment in life when you are with the people you love the most and even if in between those beautiful moments are the times when we would like to give up everything and run away, you could still say that 'well this is life, I just have to love myself and continue to prove to life that I will not give up, NOT TODAY' ...Also I was reminded of the the book Demian by Hesse, I was re watching tokyo ghoul when there was a part where in kaneki was helping the little girl read , 'The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world' I just realized how kaneki is so similar with sinclair the protagonist in the book. If you have watched the anime you will see how the main character struggled all through out the phase, He is a bird trying to spread it's wings and fly, at first he tried solving his own problems shutting himself out, but then later realized that he needs help from others. You will see the progress from hating his own self to accepting who he is and spreading his WINGS to the world. The ghouls in the story symbolizes all negativity we have in this world, you cannot identify the difference between a ghoul and a true human in the anime (just by one glance) because they socialize and act like a normal person, same as through depression, suicidal thoughts, loneliness and etc. they exist yet they are hard to identify, they exist to to destroy a person slowly like a cancer cell. But Kaneki, a half ghoul and half human, learned how to accept his flows, embrace it and used it. He learned how to love his own self. i If I could summarize everything, it would be with this two words :SELF ACCEPTANCE..
ARMYS all over the world, you are never alone, remember that always..The test of life might be tough just like a math test, but remember that it is only a test, it is okay to score zero, there is always next time and when the next time comes, you will be able to get the right answer... Just try and try, there is no harm in trying, just look at our boys, they proved all the haters wrong. Just burn all negative thoughts with FIRE and RUN towards your DREAM. what i am thinking is both big-hit and these theory makers are always mysterious and might time traveled cause big-hit hides so many details in there videos about future mv's ever since bts debut and every time i figure them out it gets more creepy and scary for me to handle and seeing how most theory's are true makes me freak out more

i appreciated their music and their individuality before, but now i appreciate it a hundred times more. i’ve been a fan of kpop for years and i don’t think i’ve seen any other band (correct me if i’m wrong) put this much thought into the meaning of their lyrics and videos. bts truly are something unique to the scene. they push the envelope on (usually taboo) topics such as mental health, abuse, suicide, etc. that many other groups are afraid to talk about. especially when you combine things like yoongi’s agust d stuff (talking about the music industry and his own mental health issues) as well as all of these videos. i respect and admire the fuck out of all seven of them for being able to talk about these things and create stories throughout their videos with a sense of coherency and intellect. they really are, in my opinion, something incredibly rare and special to the kpop scene. i love them so much more.

I really pity those haters who can't all those good things about BTS. I mean who could ever hate someone with this kind of creativity and heart and talent. I keep becoming a bigger fan of theirs by the minute. their whole story is super amazing and thanks SUGA & spice for making this video. I did not know the story behind their songs. I only looked at how the whole choreography, vocals, and rapping were amazing. I always thought the lyrics were so amazing too but never this much. thank you again for making me love them more.

I swear to god I keep seeing theories of Jin dying before (and hence self destructive behaviour) or Jin watching his friends die and being all alone in the end to die anyway, but this is the first I’ve seen where Jin is the main focal point that is jumping between different parallels/timelines to avoid the self destructive behaviour patterns and this totally makes sense with the song Butterfly (which could mean to describe the Butterfly Effect/ Game Theory/ Chaos theory- and t sits well with the videos they’re making full of clashes and changes and colours. How everytime Jin makes a choice to change something for the better it starts a new cycle all of again BUT every single one of them ends in some tragedy or the other because Jin is so overly concerned with making his friends happy/alive. And in the end he decides that he needs to be happy with who he is, his roles, and he cannot control the lives of his friends even if he has the power to. I LOVED YOUR VIDEO SO MUCH.

13:56 I want to point something out about Jimin. If you read Jimin's notes carefully, yu learn that Jimin experiences some trauma in a flower emporium.
After that, he collapses randomly, so he is always in the hospital (that why he is always in a hospital gown or near hospital bed in the MVs.
Your thought is right. In Epiphany(?) Jin tells that. Look at the lyrics.
And looks at the mv as well... it relates to the story as well. Of time travelling etc.

This is just one theory, but anyway it is a good intro for ARMYs just getting into BTS. I just want to note something about Taehyung and Namjoon's relationship. I always got the feeling that Namjoon betrayed Taehyung's trust, and it was further confirmed when the Highlight Reels came out. About the call he missed, maybe it was the call from prison, but maybe it was the very first phone call in prologue, right after Taehyung killed his father. More symbolically, these two seem to have a problem of misunderstanding one another, miscommunication. In the poster with the two, "Save Me" inverted (from the other's perspective) reads "I'm Fine". In the Highlight Reels, Taehyung lets go of his phone - he is hurt remembering Namjoon, but he doesn't want to try to contact him any more.
but Tae does speak to Namjoon when he ends up killing his father. Namjoon picks up the call and answers Tae
The one thing that goes through in my mind is that Namjoon couldn't answer the phone because after they had split apart he had fallen into bad and regretful things (like the others) hence "he too is a tempter, he too is a link to the second, the evil world in which i no longer wanted anything to do." Taehyung was that tempter, after a while Tae fell into bad and regretful things, trying to pull Namjoon with him, but Namjoon wanted nothing to do with it after awhile.

The whole story line hits hard personally, I lost all my closest friends to death and some battled addiction who passed as well as abuse. It almost scarily lines up too perfect.
BTS's music tries to bring comfort to people that have suffered things like they present in their story line, since they KNOW this are real struggles young people goes tru.
This is the BEST and most comprehensive explanation I have ever seen!!! Amazing job. THANK YOU!! The ending is such a kick to the ovaries. Seriously, WHO originally came up with this?!?! To have the stories span over 2 YEARS worth of concepts and MVs. It's an amazing feat and incredible work of art.

A Weird (?) Theory:
When Jin kept doing his time travel thingy, time got messed up, and everyone who he was affecting directly with the time travel started jumping from different times uncontrollably (Him and the rest of Bangtan). It may seem kind of far fetched, but I also think Jin is also leaving clues for the others to figure out and control or at least know their time travel. Basically, in Begin, Jungkook takes out an envelope with a paper on it. This paper is the exact same one that Namjoon later opens in Reflection, AND the picture that Jin has framed on his wall. Also, in Reflection, for some reason I've always wondered how Namjoon knew to cover his ears right before the mirrors exploded. The mirrors exploding probably symbolises the shattered glass bottle Taehyung kills his father with. Right after that, t he phone rings and Namjoon can't get to it. Idk... to me that means he jumped forward in time, saw it happen, and then jumped back (all that not on purpose of course). Also, on Begin, at some point theres these bats flying above Jungkook. The same thing happens at some point in Reflection. And another thing! In First Love, there's whistling playing in the melody of Begin that Yoongi follows, right? So that could symbolise Jungkook calling for his hyung. But when Yoongi gets there (before the car comes/Jungkook gets into a car crash) the whistling kind of goes in and out of focus. As if either Yoongi or Jungkook were forcefully being made to jump in time, so Yoongi can't hear from Jungkook anymore. Then the car comes and Yoongi runs off. But when he gets back to the burning piano, the whistling starts again. So he or Jungkook jumped time again. Also, I think that the polaroids in Awake were the clues Jin was leaving. There's that picture Jungkook and Namjoon had, the apple Jimin had, the framed picture that looks like the winged shadow Jungkook threw at the end of Begin, the picture of a mother holding her daughter, which was seen at the end of MAMA and in Tae's eyes during Stigma, the piano in First Love and a picture of scratched doors, that could symbolise how Taehyung was scratching at a tin (?) wall at the start of Stigma. In Awake, Jin sits at a table with an apple on his plate (like in Blood Sweat and Tears), but he drops the apple from the floor. In Lie, Jimin pics up an apple and takes a few bites from it. Then there's a weird static sound. He then turns the camera and walks off. It might mean that because he got the clue from Jin, he was able to control his time travelling accidents (but not time travel himself) because he got something from a dimension from which the time travel was coming from. And when Hoseok comes in MAMA, he sees the landscape that Jimin put the camera to. He also walks off. That could have been a message that Jimin left. However, if each of the clues were for one person, I think it would be like this:
The winged shadow - Jungkook
The Picture of mother and child - Hoseok
Apple - Jimin
Piano - Yoongi
The picture of the bird - Namjoon
The scratched doors - Taehyung.
But the picture of a mother and child appear afterwards. After Hoseok leaves. Hoseok gets abandoned by his mother as a child. That might have something to do with it, but I'm too dumb to make a theory about that. So Jimin and Hoseok were able to stay in one time zone. The same one. Namjoon probably also was able to stay in one time, as he tattooed (?) the picture of the bird onto his arm. My theory about Jungkook is a little more complicated. So... how would Jin have a picture of Jungkook's shadow? He must have taken it... somehow. So perhaps this picture is tying Jungkook down from being involuntarily flung through time. The piano might have been a clue, because it's in First Love AND in the Love Yourself Highlight Reel. So that way Jin could have chained him to one time. For Taehyung and scratches, it might be that Jin uses this to pull him into the alternative time with a picture as well. Oof this theory has a lot of holes... don't judge me. Anyway, it could also be that each pair is in a different time. Because we obviously see Jimin and Hoseok together. And Jungkook goes up to "Yoongi's girl" or whatever you want to call her. There's no evidence of if Taehyung and Namjoon are in the same time but yeah. Or they're all just in the same one. So Jin controlled the time travel, and they start over but all that stuff happens.

There are so much meanings to this album even little things that are shown have so mich meaning im mostly focusing on this but on 20:15 Jin is holding a bouquet of smeraldo flowers i think this is important to jin characters feelings in the storyline. if you guys didnt know smeraldo flowers have a whole legend/story behind it. Its quite long so you may have to search it up for more deeper details about it but ill just quickly summarisd it, its about a man born out of wedlock his father was a duke and was already married and had children but he had an affair with his wife with a gardeners daughter who died during the mans birth. His wife and kids found out about the man and wanted to kill the man. The father didnt want that so he hid the man in a secluded castle with beautiful flowers surrounding it which he took care himself. now this is very important because he did not know what love was everyone he knew abandoned him he was apparently very ugly so he hid himself from the world. He didnt love himself. The only thing he cared about was his flowers. One night in his locked up castle he saw a girl climbing over a fence stealing some he got angry so one night he followed her wearing a cloak so no one can see him to know. He wanted to know why she was taking his flowers. He found out that she lived in the village and sold the flowers to create money as she was very poor. He felt sympathy so he let her steal them every night without letting her know that he knew she was stealing. Over time he fell in love with the girl so he made a special flower (smeraldo) that no one has ever seen before in order to show his love. He said he would show the flowers the next day also confessing his love to her even though he was scared that she will run away from his ugliness and reject him. He waited for her to come but she never did so he went to the village to find out she wasnt there. He was later told that she died. Obviously not the best ending no one knows what happens after some people think he died form lonliness and all that time he went back hiding in his castle grieving his loss. Smeraldo in this legend means having to want something but cant get. This could represent in Jin wanting his friends to have happiness but it cant happen. He wants someone/something but cant have it. Smeraldo also mean the truth i couldnt tell/the truth untold and yes thats right the song truth untold that bts composed is all based on this legend and it shows it in the man locked in the castle perspective, to me Jin is still hiding something in this point of storyline which im sure is later revealed during the series i dont really know yet i havent really looked to deep into this but please tell me what it is theres so much deepness in this album i dont know where to go😅 at the end of euphoria Jungkook says "Hyung is there more you're hiding" and also in singularity Tae is holding a smeraldo flower so i think Tae knows what hes hiding but yeah i just want to appreciate all the time, effort and in depth meaning of this album it so unique and i love it i have never seen this in music they all truly deserve so much they are such an inspiration. Hope for continuing success in the future💜

Wow, I'm an army and I had no idea there was this much meaning to the MVs. The Webtoon makes so much more sense! I know this is a fake storyline, but it seems so real and makes me cry... This video was really really amazing. They were all good in acting and justifies their character. I remember dr strange in jins chracter here where he tries to " travels back in time" trying to alter the past so that all his friends life will be spared in loneliness. But however much he tried changing the past, he always losing someone and still the result is tragic ending.soo sad...
