    So when you lay block on top of that plastic / rubber radon barrier, what actually anchors the block wall to the foundation? Is it just sitting on there under its own weight with nothing attaching it to the foundation? Are the dark blue bricks the same as the red other than the color, or are they made differently and are used in specific applications? In your videos, they always seem to be used near the bottom of the grade.

    Do the same as you, I have a technique where I put the trowel between my legs as I go up😁 and when I get higher put the trowel on the block, tried the magnetic trowel holders but kept forgetting I was wearing it 😂

    Go on brother I like that blockwork it's neat 👌 🙌 n the blocksplitter is good only trouble is back breaking i use to put it up on half a pallet of blocks if u know what I mean. Save your back

      Hi mate they are just normal box section ally input them 300mm in on the face brickwork and that's your Face blockwork

      Cheers buddy! A picked it up off Gumtree...the woman selling it wasnt quite sure what it was..have a look on Ebay and Facebook market place buddy. Should be able to find one for sale:)

    Nice work Izzy . Are those blocks made with light weight clay aggregate like fibrolite blocks . ? If they are 20 kg full concretes your one strong man to be lifting them consistently with one hand .

      Cheers fella, and no they are the heavy 7 newton concretes..about 20kg each💪😊 that's why I use to hands when I get a bit higher up:)

      @@IzzytheBricky Most all the houses in Ireland are built with the 20 kg blocks and iv never seen anyone lay them with one hand .your storing up physical problems for yourself in years to come one handing them things . I’d kick that game to touch . 👍

    Where did u find that block splitter I’ve bought h65 hydraulic for on the deck as it weighs a lot but I can cut three blocks in one hit . I wanna get one of those for the scaffold but can’t seem too find a double hinged one like that .when u can’t clamp it I fuckin can

      Ayup David, I just got this 2nd hand for like 80 quid..i wouldn't know where to get a new one from. I'd just look for a 2nd hand one too on Ebay or something like that 👍😊

      Izzy bud look into h65 hydraulic I was surprised got it 2nd hand if u doing big houses with concretes it’s the bollocks cost 475 off e bay can cut three concrete in one hit 👍

      Mate I got it 2nd hand off gumtree..they are well expensive new. But would definitely recommend buddy

      I bought one about 12 months ago bought it cheap thought I’d got a bargain but it was a piece of shit, get what you pay for really my own fault, that one looks a lot better will have a look out for one 👍🏼👍🏼

      Its heavy though...easy 35kg

      Honestly mate I couldn't tell you..I got it second hand...and theres no brand names or markings on it...its about 20 years old buddy but any block splitter will do :)

    as a mason in the us... laying 4" block as a structural member of a building would never be approved by a structural engineer. fascinating the engineering requirements based on geography (I assume) keep up the good work Izzy!

      Isn't it interesting how different locations require certain materials 💪 Over in the US, I see you lads lay alot of 8" 9" blocks in foundations😱 whereas that's never done here 🤔

      Very true it is strange. But ours are two skins of 4” so 8” total plus cinder blocks though mostly filled with concrete are thinner, plus our footing are generally bigger and deeper as our houses are heavier as they’re mostly masonry unlike most timber houses in US.

    Cant beat block splitters, been using them for 40 years a bit weighty to move about but worth it👍

      I wish I had known earlier and saved my lungs from the sthilsaw and grinder dust for the last 5 years
      Was the first time properly using it and I'm well impressed! Grinders still have there place but for this sort or work, ill never use a grinder again🍻👌👍

      @@IzzytheBricky I try not use grinders but sometimes I have to ,always masked up though, ive got dust suppressant system which fits all my grinders and bench saws, dont know if you are subscribed to my channel but I have added a few vids onit this week, great work keep it up👍
