Set against the backdrop of Indian mythology and a dystopian society in the city of Kasi (Varanasi), the film chronicles a journey spanning millennia, from the events of the Mahabharata in the year of 3102 BC (the beginning of Kali Yuga) to 2898 AD. The core of the narrative revolves around the enigmatic figure of Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.[7]
The story behind this movie is inspired from Hindu scriptures that there was a war happened in 3102bc named mahabhrat where a character called aswathama (role of Amitabh Bachchan or that old man) where he was cursed by Lord krishna with immortality as punishment for trying to kill a unborn baby and there was a gem in his forhead which give him powers. So kalki which is an avatar of Lord vishnu (who is protector and preserver of universe) born in after 6000 years of mahabharat to end the kali yuga or saved humanity.

The hindu scriptures are the source of inspiration for this movie. Characters like Kalki(the last avatar of Lord Vishnu , expected to incarnate to save earth from Kali), Ashwatthama(played by Amitabh Bachchan exists in Mahabharat, and was cursed by Lord Krishna with immortality), Bhairava(played by Prabhas, is an another name of Lord Shiva) are taken from our hindu scriptures. Moreover there are 6 other immortals who are expected to appear in this cinematic universe. The 7 immortals are Lord Hanuman, Kripacharya, Ved Vyas, Lord Bali, Parshuram, Ashwatthama and Vibhishan. Our scriptures says that when Kali, the villan will be at its peak, then the Kalki avatar will incarnate and to help him defeat Kali, the 7 immortals will join forces. There are many such references in the movie like Kashi is an actual place in India, Shambala is the place where Kalki will take birth, etc. So, to sum up, the movie is heavily inspired from our hindu scriptures and is blent with sci-fi fantasy. Its an original concept and I am genuinely excited for this movie and the Kalki Cinematic Universe.
If i say marvel also copied of hindu scriptures like thor's hammer inspired by God Hanuman's weapon which he can only lift and vision also inspired from ashwathama from Mahabharata 😅

1) The city is Kashi it's in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh India, which is the Oldest and technically the 1st City of this world and going to be the last.
2) That opposite Pyramid shape thing is "Complex" there is no water left in the world except for Complex and it's beautiful from inside having trees and fountains and all. The main leader of Complex treats himself as a god is "Supreme Yaasin".
3) Kalki Avatar has not been born yet he's inside Deepika Padukone's womb, her name is Sau 80 (in Mahabharat mother of Kalki is Saumati and Lord Vishnu).
4) Prabhas as Bhairava is a Bounty hunter and he needs 1 million Units to live in Complex (Only Rich people can live in Complex) also Unit is the Measuring unit for the source of power to run the Nano technology they are using to run the weapons and the world (Unit is like Money 💰 for them).
5) As per Mahabharat we are in Kaliyuga and this movie is the end of this world Kaliyuga and a new world will start from here as Satayuga.
6) Ashwathama cursed by Lord Krishna and snatched his stone (Power source) during Mahabharat because he tried to unalive a pregnant women but in this movie by the end of Kaliyuga he got his stone back and he will save Sau 80 because she is going to give birth Kalki.
7) Bujji the A.I informed Prabhas aka Bhairava that a 5 star ⭐ bounty of 1 Million units can be received whomsoever catches Sau 80. So, Prabhas tries to catch Sau 80 to receive bounty to live in Complex and Ashwathama is trying to save Sau 80 and Kalki in her womb.
Let me explain why Indian audience is damn eager for this: In Hinduism, there are 4 Yugas (Eras). Satya Yuga (Golden Age) Treta Yuga (Silver Age) Dwapar Yuga (Copper Age) and Kali Yuga (Iron Age). The level of wickedness, badness and misery in world increases in every consecutive Yuga. As years pass, one Yug ends and another begins. Ramayan happened in Treta Yug. Mahabharat happened in Dwapar Yug. Currently we are in the Kali Yug (2024 AD).
