I'm an amateur photographer, and something like Bonneville Speed Week is Bucket List Stuff. I would love to document such a magical event! Oh, and I also have an MSc in Materials Science & Engineering, so I would drool from looking at all the insane hardware out there. Maybe help unfortunate folks who had mechanical failures with some on-the-spot attempts at failure analysis too.
If you ever get to go to one of the Bonneville events, even if you don't bring a car to run, do it. It is a mystical experience, and as he said in the video, the people are great! (I've gone twice and ran a 24 Hours of Lemons Opel GT. Top speed of 119 mph, but every second of it was fun.)
you ran a opel gt at bonneville? does anyone there know what it even is? im from europe and i dont think i ever saw a opel gt on the road or ever anywhere... not even at shows.
@@Frietpan They are just short of rare here in the US. Regarding Bonneville, here's my first issue as editor of The Blitz, and it is all about GTs at Bonneville. - www.opelclub.com/blitz/files/Blitz-2012-06.pdf
6:30 at what point do you want to add weight, for example if you're running a small capacity naturally aspirated car at Bonneville, where the record might be 150 mph or less, you're probably running on the short course - is that correct? Do you want more weight for stability or is a low/medium weight car better, because you're running on the short course. Thanks for the video, big subject to cover in 10 minutes.
Y'all need to add a donate button. I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today for these great quality YT shows and information😊
What do you guys think about Land Speed Racing?
You need a set of STEEL balls to do it.
It is awesome.
been racing at Bonneville for over 20 years and one thing I kinda like is there is only one idiot on the course at a time, ME!

What is valley fever 😂
Don’t the salt flats corrode the sh!t out of your car? I imagine there’s bits of salt you’ll never get out.
Yep, that's why as soon as a car finishes a run teams often use spray bottles to try and get as much salt off the car as possible
