it drives me crazy i cant add this to my playlists on spotify. its honestly my favourite song and feels like that moment you realise how absolutely in love you are and how scary and beautiful it is.
My heart completely soared when they performed this again in their Reworked tour last month! Never thought I’d hear this live! WHYYY is it not on Spotify?! :(
But the universe is just an empty space, and all the stars can disappear without a trace, i'm so glad that this has taken me so long, coz its the journey that made me so strong.
To the person who made me know this band, to the person who still means so much to me, to the person to whom I could really say "You told me to just simply wander, rather than take shelter under"......miss you!
You are the cry that turns to laughter You're the hope that ends disaster The words are fantastic. I love SP's songwriting. Gary has a wonderful way/vision with words.
True BUT at the time Chasing Cars became massive I was happy for the band's success and exposure to the masses. I had been a fan since 2001's *When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up* and they had truly come long way since then. But I agree Chasing Cars is one of my least favorites but it came from a great album and perhaps Snow Patrol in their prime. My heart and youth always goes back to Final Straw and listening to their debut album from 1998's *Songs For Polarbears* So many good memories of their shows in 2004-06. Cheers for the good taste!
I'm old, I have this only on mixed cds i burned years ago... it never plays through streaming the album. That should be a crime, it's one of their best!!!
I've got a completely different song on the last track of this CD, though the CD was copied from a friend, but still says Album Eyes Open, and The song is called Warmer Climate, but its completely different. It has a woman singing in the background. Chorus: And miles, and miles, from where you are, I lay down, on the cold ground etc. Any1 can help me out here?
I;ve come to release that,.off all the the songs i've come across, this is ONE song that presses the puttons, raises the hairs on the back off of your neck? You know!

So I’m here because this wonderful person I met shared an SP playlist they made, and said the EXACT SAME THING!! So now SP is on my rotation.
Agreed, brilliant song! Great album, especially the last 3 songs.
Probably the best song they've ever written
Yeah it's so dumb
You tube premium
Usually bonus tracks are just shoved on the end for a little extra joy, but this is the best song on the Eyes Open CD IMO.
Every time I feel dead, I listen to this song.
And then, suddenly, I am alive again.

By far Snow Patrol's best song in my humble opinion; so many fine elements to it.
It's a shame that people only give SP credit for chasing cars.
Too fucking right, I hate that song with a passion because of it

I like this better than Chasing Cars.
such lyrics. I'm lack words. cry in the end.. ^^
Why does mystical genius in our culture have to hide? This is sublime; firmly in my top five.
This track is off the hook. I would play this during winter morning commutes to work.
Songwriting at its finest.
"Edison would spin in his grave to ever see the light you gave".
Literal brilliance!!
KatradioNY I was listening to this exact bit when scrolling through and saw this comment 😊
I have lost count how many times I played it. It was a deep dark space I spent living for few months. Just like dogs chasing cars is how it feels now.
How does this masterpiece of music have so few views? Everything about this song is pure magic. This man a lyrical genius. ❤
My god, how love this song, it's magic...
This is my favourite song ever. The lyrics are so so beautiful :)
The Universe just disappeared........Pure Poetry..........Brings back beautiful memories..... ;-)
I can't believe iTunes doesn't have this or in my arms
In my arms and weight of love(and this) are perfection 🥰
Great lyrics, really makes you think when he says "Lifes something your not caught at!" Get out there and make the most of the time you got hey :)
I'm old, I have this only on mixed cds i burned years ago... it never plays through streaming the album. That should be a crime, it's one of their best!!!
Brilliant tune, great end to the album. They're such a good band,i never get bored of this album, every tune is good.
The last lines r the essence of life .
And finally they played it ♡
Simply amazing!
And I can barely see your face in front of mine, but it is knowing you are there that makes me fine...

I don't expect any less from Gary Lightbody.
This song is so wonderfully witty😍I love it so much!!!
A truly magnificent song.

This makes me think. I'm being referred to hospital on the 14th and this is making me think about that and the future
AMAZING!
Song of 2011 - moving back to a warmer climate - bye bye blighty
I'm really liking this song more than Chasing Cars. Its not just underrated, it maybe the best song on this album.
snow patrol 4 ever!!!
Amazing song, even amazinger band.
I'm so glad i'm not the only one that thought this! haha!
i love this song! :) was it just me though? or does one of the guitar riffs sound exactly the same as the one for chasing cars at 1:02? o__O
love this song so much. i am so annoyed coz I've lost my eyes open album so i cant listen to this very often. :(
Just an FYI its " Edison would spin in his grave, to ever see the LIGHT that you gave"
Martha Wainwright.
Edison was the inventor of the light bulb, or so is claimed. Does that help?
@KatradioNY I totally agree :D
listen to snow patrol and some songs of coldplay, both bands have those soft rockish numbers ;-)
6 year old comments.... wow. Time man, its just. Wow
11 years DAMN🙂❤
Reminds me of a girl name "W"~ What a beautiful she is~
Im not comparing but this song and Echleon remind me of the earth. and sound similar, ovbiously this is a better song but they just sound the same :S
